I absolutely loved this book. I love Peyton’s writing. She weaves such a beautiful story that’s relatable and makes you feel all the emotions. It’s so much more than a hockey romance. I will read anything she writes.

The much anticipated follow up to “Unsteady,” is here featuring Ro & Freddy.

Ro is an overachieving science girly who is assigned as Matt Frederick, the college hockey star’s tutor. Matt aka Freddy is just getting by, dealing with adhd, dyslexia, and dyscalculia, but he’s determined to finish his degree just like he promised his mom.

The whole theme of this book centers around whether or not two people who feel so much shame, insecurity, and truly “unloveable,” can find friendship, support, security and love in each other. Tbh I really hated all the characters who had wronged Ro and Freddy. At the same time, the shame and self-loathing that they both felt got to be a bit much at times.

Not my favorite read of the year, but I will read the next one in the series.

🏒 hockey player
👩‍🔬 science girly
🤝 Friends to lovers
+ shitty dad & abusive ex boyfriend

After reading Unsteady I knew that Unloved was going to be amazing. The chemistry between Freddy and Ro even in the first book was already showing through and it was so cute to see their relationship play out and connect the pieces of the scenes we already got glimpses of.

Freddy and Ro's relationship developed so well throughout the book with this being a friends to lovers the lines blurred from their connections in the past and their actions in the presence the build up had me so giddy. These characters both just give such sunshine energy that made the book feel so joyous even though each character was overcoming challenges.

I loved that we see mental help rep and support in this story. Ro being Freddy's tutor and the actions she takes to help him process different information was so sweet and in turn I loved that Freddy was so supportive in encouraging Ro after her previous relationship and the doubts that it caused.

I was so excited to read Unloved after meeting Ro and Freddy in Unsteady. Freddy really caught my attention in that book, and I couldn't wait to learn more about his story and see him find his happily ever after. Unloved did NOT disappoint! I savored every moment of this book and felt sad when it ended.

Ro Shariff is incredibly smart and loyal, but she has been unlucky in love. Her current "on-again, off-again" boyfriend Tyler is a complete jerk, and unfortunately, he is in the same cohort as her and is in charge. Freddy, a talented hockey player who has signed with Dallas, is trying to survive school and graduate, which is something his late mother wanted for him. He has gone through several tutors in Ro's cohort and is now assigned to her. They both have a lot of trauma to work through. Can they help each other heal?

I loved every aspect of this book. I thought the storyline was well-crafted and offered excellent representations. Freddy was such a sweet and loving soul, even with all the trauma he has faced. I also enjoyed seeing Sadie and Rhys throughout the story. I highly recommend this series!

I feel like sports romances just aren’t for me. I’m not sure why, but I really enjoyed the beginning of this book, and then, bit by bit, I started losing interest. I wanted to keep liking it, but it just couldn’t hold my attention. The story was predictable, and nothing really stood out to keep me fully invested. That being said, it was still cute enough that I finished it, so it wasn’t all bad!

Thank you NetGalley, Atria Books, and Peyton Corinne for the early access copy of Unloved.

Unloved follows the story of Matt "Freddy" an up-and-coming NHL hockey player, who is playing for the Waterfell Wolves. He has a great reputation on the ice, but not in the classroom. When Rosalie "Ro" is assigned to tutor Matt, she must try to forget that Matt was her first kiss, (one that he doesn't remember.) All while she's trying to convince herself that her current "casual" boyfriend isn't terrible to her. Ro is a hopeless romantic with a heart full of ache. When Ro and Matt start talking more and get to know each other, the two must figure out if they can work past their own insecurities to be there for each other.

With neurodiverse representation, Peyton Corrine does a great job of showing the growth of young love.

This is the second book that I have read by this author. This was a well written story with depth and great characters.
Hopefully, the author will write Bennett's story next and I would even love a book featuring Kane.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the digital ARC.

Unloved is a great sequel to the original, Unsteady. I liked this novel even more because I connected to the characters even sooner than the first book. This could be because we already had Sadie's perspective of Ro within the first book, but getting this true perspective on Ro's romance and experiences was even better. I also loved reading about Ro's perspective on Sadie from before the first book's start and during the timeline. It really made me think about how you don't really know what everyone is actually going through even if you are seemingly very good friends. Hoping for a third installment in the series!

I absolutely adored this book! I loved the first one, Unsteady, when I stumbled upon it last year. However, Unloved, to me, was even better! I instantly fell for Ro and Matt and their entire friendship/relationship. The book was so raw and real and truly broke my heart many times. It was sweet that they each were healing parts of the other that they did not break. I also loved that Unloved and Unsteady happen at the same time! It was fun to see almost a behind the scenes of Sadie and Rhys’ relationship. I truly loved this book and characters and still think about them!

whereeee do I start?! I loved the first book and this book is in the same world/timeline as the first and I thought that was so clever!!! This book follows Ro and Matt who’s love story is a slower one and focuses on some other topics. For example toxic relationships, loneliness, dealing with grief, and self worth! It was so well written and tied together. I loved the characters and everyone’s backstory’s! I REALLY LOVED the sneak peaks and different perspectives of Rhys and Sadie from the first book since technically both storylines from the first and second book are happening at the same time!

Well down Peyton Corrine! Excited to read more of her future works!

A book so careful with love and grief, there's no way you can hate it.
Ro is a tolerate it girl. She is the one that sticks up for Matt. But Matt gives it right back to her. I loved this book. And I love how seen I feel. It's refreshing to see that grief is a struggle for everyone no matter how long it's been, and healing is possible with the right people loving you.
I may not be part of the Dead Parents Club as Peyton Corrine says, but l am apart of the Dead Siblings Club. Grief is grief no matter who you lost. I miss my brother, but I know I will be okay because I am surrounded by the best people who show me what real love is like.

LOVED IT!!! Ever since I finished reading it, I JUST CAN'T STOP THINKING ABOUT IT. Between the 2 books in this series, I think no I know for a fact this one is my favorite. I hope more books come out within this series because there are some characters that are so interesting.

It was cute! If you’re looking for a book that’s easy to get into, fast-paced, and just all around an easy and entertaining read that still has elements of angst and seriousness, I’d definitely recommend this book. The main couple, Ro and Freddy, are two cuties, and the side characters are fun and likeable (rightfully so excluding the few who were terrible). The ending and epilogue were cute and it was nice to see them healed and with their own little found family. A little off topic but I am curious to see if maybe Bennet or Toren will get their own book because what little bits and pieces I saw from them had me wanting to know more.

This book was such a beautifully written journey through grief, healing, and love. It follows two people who help each other rediscover not just love for others, but also for themselves after a heartbreaking loss. The way their story unfolds is so touching and real, it’s the kind of book that lingers in your heart long after you’ve finished.
Ro and Matty will forever have a piece of my heart! 💛

This book was as gorgeous as the first book. It touched on topics much deeper and emotional than you would originally think for a college sports romance book, and I was so sucked into the story that I read it in less than 24 hours. Would recommend to anyone!

Thank you to Netgalley, the author Peyton Corrine and the publishers for letting read & review this advanced copy. Unloved is a five star hockey romance novel that comes out Tuesday February 4th 2025. This is the second book following the first one Unsteady in the Undone series, I absolutely love these characters and this series. Ro is a smart hardworking women who is also a hopeless stuck in a toxic on again/ off again relationship who is in her specific school program. In the program she is assigned to be Freddys tutor since her jerk of a boyfriend was being rude and didn't want to tutor him. Freddy is a popular hockey player who is known for being good in bed. Freddy doesn't remember but before meeting Ro as his tutor they actually met freshman year at a party and hit it off. He was Ro's first kiss. Ro remembers and hasn't seen Freddy since until she becomes his tutor. They become close friends and through that and their past relationships and trauma experiences leads them to lean on each other. They slowly start having feeling for one another but don't want to ruin their friendship they treasure so much. This novel is amazingly beautiful along with the characters being so heartfelt and lovable. I adored every minute of reading this book.

Another great read from Peyton Corinne! I had high hopes after loving her first book in this series (Unsteady). Ro and Freddy were great characters and I was drawn into their story, in addition to just really enjoying the New Adult sports romance genre. I did wish that it was a little faster paced overall, but definitely a book that I enjoyed overall!

I loved Unsteady, so I was really excited for Unloved. Overall, I enjoyed the story. I appreciated that we got plenty of POV switching between the two main characters. I loved the FMC and really felt that her struggles were a great match for the MMC. I adored the college party at the beginning where they jumped off the diving board together, and where she told him "I think you could be really easy to love". Such a cute, sweet moment.

I love that the author didn't shy away from the reality that college students are adults with complicated lives and responsibilities that tug in every direction.

However...this book was just too long. The story started to drag halfway through, and I felt that about 20% of this book needed to be edited out for the sake of pace and flow. I didn't feel that we got a great resolution for the FMC's ex-boyfriend considering how much space he took up in the story. I felt that the MMC's three challenges were almost too much for one book - it was a lot to keep track of, and didn't make him feel more complex - it just made it hard to follow.

Plus, it is entirely unrealistic that minor children would be living in a college dorm with their sibling and her roommate, no matter how dire the situation is. (It would have made more sense for them to live in off-campus housing if the roommate's siblings are living there.)

With all of that said, I would definitely recommend this book! Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for an advance copy.
