Two Seconds Too Late is book 2 of the Jeopardy Falls series. In this story we get to know Private investigators Riley MacLeod and Greyson Chadwick as they search for a missing woman Kelly, which then turns into a deadly chase.

Lots of twists, drama, and clean romance. I loved the story setting and all of the characters in this clean fiction suspense story. I read this story in one sitting because I didn't want to stop reading! I can't wait to read book 3, especially how this story ended on a cliff hanger! I'm definitely going back to read book 1 since I really enjoyed this story.

This is book two in the Jeopardy Falls series. I am enjoying this series, so I am hopeful there will be more adventures for Riley, Greyson, Deckard, and Christian.
There was a random knock on Riley’s door and all she found was a key. The question was who left the key and what did it go to? Of course, chasing after the answers Riley found herself working closer than ever with Greyson (Grey) and had to bury her true feelings for the man. Grey, in turn, had to bury his feelings for Riley which was near impossible when she would sit or stand close to him. Deckard and Christian (Riley’s brothers) were clueless as to what was happening between Grey and Riley.
Kelly and Jared – what had they gotten themselves mixed up in? And why did they do what they did?
All these questions led Grey and Riley down a path to a spa/retreat not knowing what they would find, or if they would find Kelly and Jared.
This is the kind of romantic suspense I like to read. There is just enough unspoken attraction between Riley and Grey to keep me interested, but it doesn’t go overboard. A few shared kisses and some honest communication between them, even in the midst of their investigation. I liked the fact that Riley had to face some of her childhood memories and be stronger than the memories, facing them head on, never abandoning the case she was working on. I liked the fact that both Riley and Grey would call upon their faith in the midst of their troubles, hoping through that faith they would both find the inner answers they needed.
There is a certain vulnerability to Grey that I found relatable. He was afraid to pursue a relationship because of some of his own inner turmoil. It made him vulnerable to admit to Riley how he was feeling, what he was thinking. To me, this makes him an attractive character.
To be honest, I was more caught up with Riley and Grey’s relationship than the actual investigation they were working on.
And that ending? I know there HAS to be more to this series.

Thanks to Justread tours for my review copy.

This is the second book in this series and we are back in Jeopardy Falls New Mexico. This time Riley MacLeod is the main character. She teams with Greyson Chadwick a co-worker to investigate a friend’s disappearance. Her brothers are also back as they are partners in the Investigation business. This book is action packed right from the start.

It didn’t take long to remember the characters from the first book in the series. The opening scene has Riley in a life and death struggle which will play out through the book. What happens gives her nightmares which she has to deal with. At the same time Greyson is also dealing his own struggles from the past.

Riley and Greyson have to pose as a married couple at a retreat to look for clues on a friend’s disappearance which leads to dangerous situations. At the same time fighting an attraction for each other. Riley has grown to have feelings for Greyson that she is sure he doesn’t return. We find out Greyson feels the same way. While navigating danger they are navigating their feelings. Added to the tension is Greyson dealing with past issues that he blames himself for.

The suspense is there from the start and picks up as the book continues. It’s not just the missing friend in danger. Riley has also become a target. Which in turns means Greyson is too. The fact this book is set in December with snow and cold seems to add drama in my eyes. I always find the cold element makes the suspense feel more intense for me. I also found as I got into the book the more I didn’t want to put it down, knowing what would happen next.

This book has the right amount of romance and suspense and deals with forgiving one’s self. Both Riley and Greyson have things they are struggling with and we see them work through the issues. It wasn’t an easy fix but was a natural progression. I don’t like that I have to wait another year for the next book but will be looking forward to it. Dani writes wonderful Romantic Suspense. If you like suspense where you feel the danger check this book out. If you haven’t read book one you won’t be confused reading this book.

Too Seconds Too Late is a gripping, romantic suspense filled with danger, intrigue, great chemistry and an irresistible fake-relationship/age gap trope that kept me captivated from beginning to end!

In Book 2, a standalone read in the Jeopardy Falls series, Author Dani Pettrey delivers an exciting, edge-of-your-seat story that follows private investigators Riley MacLeod and Greyson Chadwick as they track down a missing woman. With danger lurking around every corner and a clever plot, Pettrey takes readers from a secluded couples retreat shrouded in mystery to the flashy, dark streets of Las Vegas. I loved the chemistry and romance blossoming between Riley and Grey as surprising twists and turns were unfolding, keeping the tension, pace and suspense high throughout this story. Using multiple points of view and a sweet touch of genuine faith, Pettrey expertly wove a thrilling mystery that was easy to devour.

Overall, Too Seconds Too Late is a well-written, pulse-pounding read with likable characters, engaging dialogue and elements that kept me guessing. Riley and Greyson's banter, partnership, and personal growth made them easy to root for, and the vivid settings added atmosphere and excitement. If you're looking for an entertaining, faith-anchored suspense novel with heart and momentum, this one definitely delivers!

Ooh, the characters in Two Seconds Too Late are so much fun! I love Riley's spunk, and Grey's backstory kept me guessing all through the book.

Grey makes an awesome male lead. Mysterious, smart, and protective, I love how he cared for Riley.

This book is full of twists and turns, and I like the way that Pettrey pieced it all together. A few things I guessed, many I didn't, but altogether it makes for a really complicated and fun story.

If you like your romantic suspense books to make you think, then Too Seconds Too Late is the book for you!

This is a read with plenty of suspense. The situation was unclear but Riley, Deck, Christian and Grey were immediately ready to jump in to figure out what the key went to and why Kelly had gone missing.
It took me a little to see the romance part of romantic suspense working. The relationship between Riley and Greyson didn’t seem like it worked at first. Even though there was evidence from the first book of the yearning on Riley’s part in the Jeopardy Falls series.
By the halfway mark, I was pulled into the story and invested in finding out what would happen. The love story has a happy conclusion. The conclusion of the mystery feels true to life. Robin Hood types don’t usually escape without consequences.
Watch out for a bit of a cliffhanger at the end that I’m sure leads toward the next book.
I enjoyed reading Two Seconds Too Late.
Thanks to Netgalley and Baker House for the opportunity to read the book.

Two Seconds Too Late is the second in the Jeopardy Falls series but would also work as a standalone. that said, I think it’s always more fun to know some backstory, but it’s by no means essential. Skip tracer Riley has been secretly in love with private investigator Greyson Chadwick for quite some time, but never shown that interest. Grey feels the same but his damage past means he doesn’t want to risk losing someone so prefers to stay not involved. Until a case forces them to go undercover as a couple and make it convincing.

Anyone who reads my reviews knows Dani Pettrey is an auto buy author. Yes I often receive ebooks from the author or her publisher, but I also buy my own physical copy. That should speak volumes. This book is no exception. I liked the extremely clever plot. I liked that the case forced Riley to face the one place on earth she despises, and Grey to face the thing that scares him most. Their characters are appealing and I pulled hard for them both. Two quite late nights were involved in finishing this book quickly. And there were a couple of big plot twists that will impact the entire series too. I cannot wait for book three.

I received a copy of Two Seconds Too Late from the author via NetGalley. The views are all my own.

Dani Pettrey has done it again! I loved this book, as I have loved all of her other ones! This is the second novel in the Jeopardy Falls series. This one is non-stop action and has many different twists and turns along the way. I absolutely loved the chemistry between Riley and Grayson. I almost felt like I was living in their adventures! I highly recommend this book if you enjoy good, clean, romantic suspense novels.

I received this book from the publisher through NetGalley for my honest opinion.

Two Seconds Too Late is the latest romantic suspense from Dani Pettrey. I have never read a bad book by Ms. Pettrey and this book certainly does not disappoint. I loved Riley and Greyson and the way they each face their fears. The hunt for Riley's friend, Kelley, is exciting and quite suspenseful. I enjoyed trying to guess what was going to happen and also enjoyed the way the characters turned to God for help. I highly recommend the Jeopardy Falls series and look forward to book three.

So brew up a pot of tea and settle in for a suspenseful read.

There's never a time that your past doesn't influence you or in some cases haunt you. Working as a PI as a skip tracer, Rylie MacLeod has never experienced this more than now, working her current case.
When her friend Veronica calls to tell her their mutual friend Kelly is missing, Rylie knows there's something not right. Kelly isn't that type of person to disappear and mixed with a mysterious package with an unidentified key inside delivered to her, she knows something is going on.
Greyson has long admired Rylie's skills as a tracer and enjoys working with her and her two brothers, Deckard and Christian. Now he teams up to work closely with Rylie to solve the mysterious disappearnce of her friend Kelly. He wants to keep her safe but Rylie is determined to work the case and keep him safe. As they work to solve this Rylie is confronted with places and people of her past and draws on the strength of her friend and coworker Greyson to keep it together and push forward.
Two Seconds Too Late is the latest in the Jeopardy Falls series from Dani Pettrey. Readers will delight in captivating characters, strong storyline, drama and intrigue. Definitely worth the read.

This book is romantic suspense at its best! Pettrey takes the reader on a nonstop adventure of danger, suspense, mystery, and romance in the second book of this fantastic series. She is a masterful storyteller whose books never disappoint!

This book focuses on Riley and Greyson who while are friends and colleagues, have romantic tensions just below the surface. As they race to discover what happened to Riley’s missing friend before it is too late, they are forced to confront not only their own individual pasts and fears, but also their feelings for each other.

I never saw the ending coming and it has set up book three perfectly to be another thriller! I am anxiously awaiting it for Declan and Harper’s stories.

This suspenseful thriller keeps readers guessing as they witness two pairs of characters running for their lives amid mysterious circumstances. The details of why and what’s involved gradually unfold to reveal what is at stake. And within the greater tale is a romantic conundrum where a guy and a gal who secretly care for each other are forced to flee together and pretend to be a couple, offering them further challenges. Trust is one theme that flows throughout since they must depend on each other. The intriguing characters come across as realistic and the fast-paced plot intense, although I found things a little confusing at times. You can’t set the book aside because you need to know what happens next and next and next and how it can possibly work out. It could be a great choice for a book club to discuss. "You can't fear a life that may never come to pass. Otherwise, you're living it out in your mind all the time instead of enjoying the blessing of the moment."

Greyson and Riley were fun to get to know. Their romance had the older brother's best friend trope mixed with opposites attract trope. Logical, methodical, serious Grey complemented emotional, go-with-your-gut, optimistic Riley very well and it was exciting to see them partner in field work. Grey carried a lot of burdens - some familial, some from his work, and some personal. Riley struggled through PTSD from her last case and both needed to let go of their fear and lean on God one day at a time. The suspense component of the plot was complex and intricate; I did not see it coming though we did get snippets of the villain's voice throughout the story.
I enjoyed getting to know Deckard from his voice in this story and I'm looking forward to the next book as he reconnects with Harper.

“‘I should have bowed out of the case at that point.’ He looked over at her for the briefest of seconds, and she absorbed his pain—the sorrow raw and at the surface. She longed for him to stop the car so she could wrap him in her arms.”

As colleagues, Grayson and Riley work well together. But when they have a chance to go undercover together, perhaps their desires to connect will rise to the surface. Can they speak the truth about how they feel?

Along with her two brothers, Riley is a private investigator. Grayson also adds his expertise to their firm. The case that they are uncovering had some unexpected elements.

The suspense elements are strong. The slow-burn romance is sweet. And the faith and family aspects also add so much to the story.

This is book two in the Jeopardy Falls series. The characters are connected. I am glad that I read “One Wrong Move” first. But this book could be read as a stand alone.

I read this book as a part of a book tour. I wanted to read and review it. All opinions are my own.

Time is running out for them all....

I'm a longtime fan of Dani Pettrey's exciting romantic suspense so I've been looking forward to the second Jeopardy Falls novel ever since seeing the interesting title. Two Seconds Too Late. Too late for what? Boy, did I find out!

Two Seconds Too Late was one wild ride from start to finish and Dani Pettrey doesn't give any of her characters or her readers a moment's pause to catch their breath. The mystery in Jeopardy Falls book 2 was a particularly good one and I think one of Dani Pettrey's best. The different threads are cleverly woven together into one seamless mystery that keeps you guessing and on the edge of your seat.

Riley and Grey were both great characters. Both of them are flawed but are trying their best. They both have a lot of baggage from the past that keeps trying to derail their search as well as their budding romance. Honestly, I liked how real that made them as they came across as wonderful people who are not impossibly perfect.

Anyway, Two Seconds Too Late is an excellent read and one that is not to be missed. Between the dramatic landscape, the many twists and turns of the mystery, and the romantic sparks I think this is one of my favorite novels by this author so far. Now I can't wait to find out what happens in the next Jeopardy Falls book 'cause I know it will be good....

I loved this wonderful story filled with action, suspense, romance and faith. I really enjoyed Riley and Greyson and their competitive personalities. I loved all the twists and turns. I liked Kelly and Jared. I liked that Greyson was learning to have more faith in himself. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series. I received a copy of the book from the publisher for a fair and honest opinion that I gave of my own free will.

Whew Jeopardy Falls!
With a title like Two Seconds Too Late you know you can expect to encounter some anxiety and time sensitive moments in this book! What you may not anticipate is just how many times two seconds may make a difference! I often say life can change in a moment. Dani Pettrey takes that to heart as she sends her characters on multiple adventures throughout her tales.
Two Seconds Too Late investigates Riley's spitfire personality as she tracks a new friend who has gone missing. Through these pages Riley also gets to pursue what's been simmering with Greyson, fellow PI and partner in, well, everything.
I really like this series and the sibling group Pettrey has developed for these sagas. I like the way she builds throughout the story that gives me an urgency to see what's happening next. I even like that there are unresolved threads that I get to pursue through reading each book in the series. This is book 2. I'm ready for book 3! I know I know patience.
Thank you to Bethany House and NetGalley for the opportunity to delve in to this tale. All opinions are my own.

Welcome to Jeopardy Falls where three siblings have set up a PI unit to atone for their shady past at the hands of their parents. This is the second in the series and the first one I have read. There is a lot of characters to keep track of, and even though this can be read as a stand-alone, I do wish I had read the first. Simply as I think as this series goes, the overarching story gets a clearer picture.

There are actually four siblings, the distant sister did not get mentioned too much, but when she did it piqued my interest. I will also be going back and reading the first book, as this series is really interesting and I am a sucker for sibling stories.

This story mainly focused on sister Riley and her secret love interest and fellow PI Greyson. He is about ten years her senior and is holding on to some guilt from his past that he does not think makes him a good love interest for Riley. Even though he is in love with her.

When he and Riley have to go undercover as a couple in love at a reclusive couple's retreat to help out a friend, their relationship only heats up. Not only that but they have no idea the danger they have stepped into in regard to this case and the missing friend. Pretending to be in love, when they already are, and danger lurking around every corner keeps these two on their toes. And the ending has me looking forward to continuing with this series.

I was provided a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review, and all views and opinions are my own.
