I love the way April Asher writes her Men. They are broody and manly and sweeter than cake. This is an adorable mystery with lots of tension and past barriers to break down. This is a second chance fantasy romance with lot of laughter and good fun. I am crossing my fingers that we get more from this small town as I love the side characters just as much and want to see them find their happily ever afters.

This was a little slow to start but, once it picked up, it was full steam ahead.

Harlow left town when she discovered Jaxon wasn't her fated mate but he was, instead, fated to mate one of her best friends. She returned to town with her best friend's daughter, Grace, when they ran out of options to help Grace with her newfound powers. They both fought the attraction but they had wonderful chemistry, and love, throughout the entire story. There was a hint of it becoming a series and I really hope it is because I want to read more about all of Harlow and Jaxon's friends.

This is so good!! Urban romantasy at its finest! It's warm, cozy, funny, spicy; everything you want really. The characters, though supernatural, were relatable and all genuinely likeable. I want to live in Fates Haven, I want a Jax of my own.. I'd like to live in the book. This is an automatic buy when it's released!

Light and enjoyable second chance rom com, witches, shifters, vampires, and magic that went sideways but no one can figure out why. Good friends, family, and true love round out a feel good tale that will make you want to be their neighbor.

Sweet and simple paranormal romance that I absolutely loved and couldn’t put down! This is my first from this author but not my last.

Well written cozy paranormal romance that had just a touch too much crude innuendo and low brow humor to be a slam dunk for me.
The characters were pleasant for the most part and the plot was interesting, but this was a less educated Stars Hollow-esque town.

People who like that sort of humor will enjoy this.

I really loved this book! The plot has been done before but the author add her own twist which keeps you locked in. Characters are very well developed

This was an enjoyable, light, cozy romance. There were some references to Gilmore Girls and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so if you’re a fan of those shows, chances are high you’ll like this book since the “vibes” are similar.

I enjoyed the small town atmosphere and appreciated the found family relationships. I would definitely be interested in reading other stories about this friend group.

It’s worth noting, that while there are shifters and references to pack alphas there are no knots and the culture is not “why choose”. In fact, the main premise of the book is based on the assumption of relationships being monogamous. This isn’t spelled out in the book of course, but as someone who read a bunch of omegaverse and “why choose” stories before diving into this one, I did have to make a mental switch.

•Second Chance
•Small town festival/competition
•Witch/Shifter
•Cozy Vibes
•Open Door Spice
•Dual POV (Third Person)

I have loved every single one of April’s paranormal romance books, and this one is no exception! Found family, shifter, spice, chemistry…What more could you want? I know! A sequel! 😂

Five amazing stars to another of April’s amazing books!

While I mostly enjoyed the romance aspect (which is saying a lot since second chances can be very hit or miss for me), everything else about the book sadly didn't make me love it.

My major issue is that too much plot detracted from the core of the romance. It felt like the author tried to cram too much story between the second-chance romance between Harry and Jax, the mystery of Grace, the mystery of the magic acting weird, and the world-building for future sequels. It resulted in everything feeling rushed. The book also leaned into the humorous aspects that unfortunately were just too silly and over the top for me.

Romance-wise, I liked that the buildup was slow, but I needed way more grovelling from Harry! It felt like we went from them slowly moving forward to suddenly having one confrontation, and they are back together! I wanted more, and I can't help but feel like it was rushed because so many other plot points also had to be addressed.

Overall, this book was an easy, quick read. There's a lot of potential in this world. If the author can focus her storytelling more, I would probably pick up a future book, especially if it's a rival-to-lovers story between a certain angel and demon!

Harlow "Harry" Pierce thought that her first Fates Haven Finding Ceremony would confirm that her boyfriend Jax was her fated match. When the fates lead Jax to her best friend, Harry left Fates Haven with a broken heart and a promise to herself never to return home. Thirteen years later, Harry has no other choice but to return home to get answers for her goddaughter, Grace. Grace is half-human and half-shifter but due to a one-night stand, her mother does not know what is causing Grace's fiery abilities. Harry hopes Fates Haven's local Alpha might be able to help Grace with her abilities. When Harry finds that Jax is the new Alpha, Harry must put her feelings aside to help Grace and find out what is causing the town's magic to go haywire.

I am a sucker for paranormal romance and this book took me out of my reading slump. Although the plot was pretty simple, the romance (and spice) between Jax and Harry was perfect, and I loved the second chance and found family tropes throughout this book. The ending does open the possibility of another book with Fates Haven characters, and I would pick up that book immediately. If you are a fan of shifter romance, I would highly recommend this book.

A Simple Twist of Fate comes out May 13th.

Ugh I am so sad!

I absolutely LOVED April Asher's 'Supernatural Singles' trilogy, all three of those books were incredible. So I absolutely JUMPED at the opportunity to read her newest upcoming release as soon as I could.

Unfortunately though, this was just not my cup of tea whatsoever. I could not connect with the characters at all and even though I just finished reading this book, its already a blur , nothing outstanding or memorable happened whatsoever. Why is there a dragon on the cover? There's like no dragons even in the book. Honestly, this just seemed to be such an unnecessary "fae" story.

The voice is really strong, but it wasn't my cup of tea. I stopped after chapter 1 (4%). I think this will work really well for fans of whimsy.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC.

This uses the paranormal romantic comedy perfectly to tell a story and was hooked from the first page. The characters had that overall feel that I was looking for and enjoyed the way everything worked in this fantasy world. The overall feel worked well and was enjoying the romance going on. April Asher has a strong writing style and was glad it had that element that I was looking for.

So adorable! This witchy romance was full of just the right amount of sweetness and spice. The characters were quirky and fun! I was able to read this book in one sitting. Such a great read!

April Asher my whimsical witchy queeeeeeen! I loved this book so much even though I am typically not a fan of second chance romances. I love a small town romance trope and this did not disappoint. I really enjoyed the world building and all of the characters were juuuust quirky enough to not be annoying.

Such a sweet and romantic story with a fun and interesting plot. Jax is absolutely swoon-worthy and he made for the perfect love interest. The first bit of the book can be a little hard to get into with all of the world building but trust the process and keep reading. You don't need to remember all of the details as they'll become clearer as you get deeper. The writing reminded me of Ilona Andrews and I highly enjoyed the entire thing. There's some spice which added to the story in a good way. Loved it!

✨️ A Simple Twist of Fate ✨️

My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Finished: 11/08/24

An enjoyable start to a new paranormal romance series by April Asher!

Harry is a witch who ran away from her home town when her boyfriend and best friend was matched during a finding ceremony but years later she heads back to her small town on a mission. But not everyone is ready to let her back into their lives with open arms.

I liked the story and the second chance romance that happens between Harry and Jaxson. At times though it felt a tad rushed with their reunion and Harry seemed a bit obtuse just to make the plot make sense. But her relationship with her aunt and Grace's mother I really liked.

I do appreciate that A Simple Twist of Fate has many plot points and all the characters woven together to make it a great read and doesn't bore you. Asher's work isn't the best romance I've read but her books are always a joy to read.

This was a such a great read!! I love Dual POV, so that was fun, and between the magic and forced proximity, I was hooked and read this in a day! It felt cute and like a warm hug.
