Harlow "Harry" is a witch, 18 years old, and attending her first Finding Ceremony, where she is supposed to be linked to her boyfriend, Jaxon, who is a cougar shifter. But Fate linked Jaxton with her best friend, so Harry ran from them all. The book fast-forwards to thirteen years later, when Harry returns to her former town, bringing along her goddaughter who is part human and part shifter, and also a bit of a troublemaker. Harry hopes the locals, and specifically the Alpha, can help reel in her goddaughter and help her control her magic. As it turns out, the Alpha is none other than Jaxon - and he is upset to see Harry back, as to him she broke his heart.

This was a great setting with an equally absorbing plot. I loved the writing and pacing, and I appreciated that this was more than a romance centric book as the parts about Harry's goddaughter lent the book a deeper meaning, as well. There was plenty of chemistry of course, but also a deeper purpose. I would love to follow along with these characters and Fates Haven some more.
