When the Gingerbread Boy joins the rest of the class for a lesson on making things with shapes, he finds the tables turned when the shape dog he creates runs off on an adventure. The class will need to think creatively and work together to get the dog to come home. The rhyming text lends itself to being an engaging read aloud, but with its limited text and simple story with its nods to the traditional one will also appeal to new readers, who will be excited to see this favorite character in a graphic novel format.

The Gingerbread Man series is always a great addition to any library. This story had rhymes that flowed well and the illustrations are colorful and eye-catching. The format is great for early readers, none of the pages are over-filled or too busy, yet the story is engaging enough to keep kids interested.
I love the Gingerbread Man books for storytime because of the rhyme schemes and playful stories. Now that there are graphic novels of this character, I think he will be a great addition to the shelf for fans of Narwhal and Jelly and Shark Princess.

This book is a fun little romp perfect for earlier readers. The words per page and words used are great for a newer reader just beginning to experience graphic novels. I will admit the publication date confuses me though as a Gingerbread Man themed book released in June seems alittle off. A fall or Winter release would make alot more sense and probably would lead to more interest in the book.
