Tenure is a steamy and addictive novella that dives into the controversial, yet popular, professor-student romance trope. The story centers on Kiernan and James, whose forbidden relationship is fueled by undeniable chemistry and witty banter. Readers who enjoy a quick, high-heat romance will find this book to be a perfect read.
While the plot moves at a very fast pace, which might feel a little unrealistic for some, it works well within the novella format. The short length allows for the focus to remain squarely on the scorching hot and well-written intimate scenes.
However, the book's central taboo might be a point of discomfort for some readers, as it explores a power imbalance that may feel problematic. Despite this, the romance is a compelling one, with Kiernan often standing up to James's more "jerk-like" tendencies, making their dynamic feel more balanced. For those who can suspend their disbelief and are looking for a quick, sexy read, Tenure delivers an intense and consuming experience.

This was very spicy. It was an age-gap romance involving a minor, which was not my favorite, especially because it was kind of unnecessary. That said, I was glad the attraction was based on more than just looks.

3.5 ⭐ Tenure is an addictive and sexy forbidden novella. One of my favorite forbidden romance pairings is professor and student, and Tenure drew me in from the start. Kiernan and James have undeniable chemistry from the start and their sass and banter kept me on my toes. The spice is scorching hot and well-written. I will admit that James was a bit too much of a jerk for my liking, but Kiernan kept him in line. Their relationship also moved extremely fast in a way that felt a little unrealistic...but Tenure is a fast-paced novella, and I can suspend my belief for the sake of a hot story. If you're looking for a sexy, forbidden spicy romance that you can devour in less than a day, definitely read this book!

I never, ever knew that I could find the subject of Maths to be so hot... yet here I am. This novella was everything I needed and so much more. All of my favourite tropes: age-gap, forbidden romance, and I have now discovered that I am a *slight* sucker for a professor x student trope, which is something I never expected of myself...

I gave this one the opportunity but I just wasn't able to get into it. The writing wasn't captivating me which is sad because I liked the book's premise.

Super steamy taboo story. There was a little f the ick factor on the protagonists age, but honestly given the storyline it works. Look forward to more sexy stories from this debut author.

This book is perfect for readers who crave stories that ignite with forbidden passion, simmer with intellectual tension, and sparkle with a playful rebellion against societal expectations. If you're drawn to characters who dare to challenge the boundaries of convention and explore the thrilling complexities of relationships that defy the norm, then this book is for you. Prepare to be captivated by a romance that will challenge your assumptions, stir your emotions, and leave you breathless.

You're telling me this is a DEBUT NOVELLA?
I would have had NO idea. But damn damn damn this was SO GOOD and I can't wait to read more from this author. Kiernan and James were both really well rounded characters - both with their own flaws, of course - but they weren't irredeemable. And when the two of them came together? My god, Violet can write spice and she can write it GOOD. This book was off the charts hot and I could not put it down. I read it in one sitting and honestly, it's one that I'll probably go back and reread whenever I'm in the mood for something shorter and hot, but packed with feeling and great characters.

I must say that it has been a long time since I’ve read such a good and intense taboo story. I enjoyed the story from beginning to end. What I particularly liked was the dynamic between Kieran and James and how being intelligent is portrayed as attractive.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley.

This put ALL other taboo that I have ever read to shame... I think it was the highschool thing that was problematic for me because the actual smut itself was REALLY well done. I just wish Kiernan was 18, despite the age of consent being 16 this felt icky to me and an abuse of power.

I rated this book 5 stars!!! I absolutely loved it! & read it so quickly I couldn’t put it down. I really connected with the characters & cannot wait to read more from Violet!

This book had a great plot with intriguing characters. I’ll definitely be looking out for more from this author.

Book Review: Tenure by Violet Pearce
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (4/5 Stars)
I just finished Tenure by Violet Pearce, and wow, it was such a thrilling read! This novella was fast-paced, perfectly balanced, and impossible to put down—I devoured it in one sitting. It's an age gap, teacher-student romance that hits all the right notes. Violet Pearce has a way of drawing you in and keeping you hooked until the very last page. If you're looking for a quick yet satisfying read, Tenure is a must!

2.5*
The spice was spicen'. HOWEVER, there were so many issues with this book too. I wouldn't say the issues "triggered" me per-say, but they definitely gave me the ick. For example, the male mc gets into a fight with someone to "protect" the female mc, yet arguably, the things he does are equally as bad. And it was so trope-filled that it felt like the author was trying to put every little thing they could in there, despite it being a novella. It just didn't work for me. You can't possibly tell me that a high school student is BEGGING for anal a couple days after losing her virginity...

The book gives you what you requested, I know the 17y girl can be a little uncomfortable and personally for me that is not something that I normally accept but before you request a book read what the book is about... After this message, the book is fast paced, the spicy scenes are really great and we have a man who knows what he wants and what he founds, we do have a girl, woman growing up who end up finding something she wasn't expecting

Ummm I was sooo uncomfy reading a spicy book between a 17 year old girl and tenured professor. Like when he proposed and wanted to marry her, her parents didn’t care at all. Like what the hell

The tropes in this book are my favorite. However it did feel like there were some plot loopholes in there.
The relationship was developed nicely.

Grumpy, dark haired, tenured professor ✔️
Feisty, outspoken, genius student ✔️
This book is short, sweet, SMUTTY and to the POINT! Exactly what you want in a taboo novella.
The book starts out with Kiernan’s first day of early enrollment to college when she runs in to the grumpy, mean to everyone, professor. They have a love-to-hate- you connection right off the bat and have the STEAMIEST chemistry!!
5 stars! The book did what it needed to do and I had a great time reading it.

The 17 (h) and near 40 (H) arc was unnecessary and did nothing to advance the plot, maybe except make the H question his ethics and ours.
Overall the book delivered exactly what was in the description of the book. Extra spicy scenes and no repetition. Perfect as a stress reliever in November for a student. Or is it just me? XD

4.5 💫
Would it make me a whore if I rated it 5 stars?? Listen I need you to put your rose colored glasses on before reading. They are instantly obsessed with each other and they do be going to pound town.. I wanted more tension but what can you do. It’s smutty and so much fun. Where were these hot professors when I was in school
