I was shocked by how much I loved this book. I was a tumblr girl when I was younger, but never much of a fan fiction person. This made me a little unsure if I would like this book or if I would find it cringey. Right away my worries were eased because the writing is fantastic! I loved almost everything about this book, but especially the characters.

I fell in love with every single character. Maybe it’s because I come from a large French-Canadian family, but damn did I love the Chevaliers. The dynamic between them felt so magical. They all felt like real, tangible people and I appreciated it so much. Sam was such a likeable male lead. His dialogue and personality actually felt real. I was worried about extra cheesy interactions/dialogue from him but there was none of that!

The only thing that falls a little flat for me is the ending. This is a very slow burn. I loved the spicy scenes near the end, but I feel like it took away from the ending of the story a little. It made the last chunk of the book feel a little rushed and unsatisfying.

For Molly Dunn’s first novel she did an outstanding job! I have already started recommending this to my romance loving friends and will keep doing it until every reader I know has read it! Do yourself a favour and grab a copy of this one!

With its New York autumn vibes meets a bit of 'You've Got Mail', this was a sweet, slow-burn celebrity/normie romance.

Diana and Sam were very sweet together, slowly forming a friendship while not realising they were also friends online as 'D' and 'S'. Both had a lot of insecurities and growth to do. At times I found them both frustrating (especially Sam for not telling Diana as soon as he realised who she was), but I had to remind myself they were both 21. Refreshingly, I liked Diana's reaction to finally realising who S is, and then being shocked that her reaction wasn't the opposite.

However, I think the pacing was off. It was so slow for things to come to ahead, waiting for Sam and Diana to come clean with each other. Then everything wrapped up in the epilogue with us being told rather than shown how both of them thought about the mistakes they made with each other. To me, epilogues supposed to be about AFTER the couple has gotten together and resolved their personal growth arcs. Otherwise it's just the final chapter. I would've preferred if we saw Diana working towards being a full-time author much earlier on given thats what she dreamed of doing. Some details that didn't make sense (which says this book needed more editing). Giselle and Diana inerhited their late aunt's flat, then the next sentence it says her pmum threatened to kick them out to sell the flat. Which is it? Also the cafe's financial situation. They own other cafes but why aren't they going under too? To me the cafe side plot should've been completely scrapped.

Having said that, I think this was a charming debut, and I would definitely read this author again.

This was a fun romance book!

The characters were absolutely likable and also relatable on some level! I like how they had their insecurities and weaknesses as well as their strengths. I like how we as readers new more than the characters and were able to see how they figured it all out on their own!

I enjoyed the plot aswell. Did I find the thought of Diana writing fanfiction about sam a bit weird once they started hanging out? Perhaps? But otherwise it was okay and I absolutely enjoyd it on so many levels!

A delightful and delicious slow-burn romance. I love a slow-burn romance, so this was exactly the kind of read I needed right now. And you can't beat the fall vibes!

If you enjoy slow burns this is the one for you! When I say slow burn— I mean this is a sloooooow burn.

This was a cute read, and I loved the main charectors in this book. And Diane’s huge family was a nice touch to the book.

I just wish overall that the book had a little more romance, rather than waiting until the epilogue that was vague!

I loved how I could connect to Diana; the premise of her being a fan fiction writer is just so calling to millennials and Gen Z! If you love modern-day references like Taylor Swift and other artists, this is the one for you. I do have to say, I appreciated the familial relationships Diana had with her family, but I got very lost in keeping up with everyone and who they were 😔 I felt like the book could’ve done without some of the information about her family, but I still loved the bond. There were also a lot of plot holes in the restaurant's financial situation, but they owned many others. It was about memories, but it was made a huge deal and mentioned very late in the book. Also, NO PLANS ON THE RELATIONSHIP?! I wish the slow burn stopped 60% of the way through to see more of the relationship unfold! This was an adorable read, and a lot of the time, I was screaming at Sam just to TELL HER, iykyk, but the burn was worth it! It is an adorable read; thank you again, Molly, for letting me read this beautiful book 🤍✨

If you like a good slow burn, this one might be for you, because it’s a sllooooowwww burn.
I loved the premise of this, but really felt like something was lacking. I think there should have been more show of the interactions between Diana and S, since the depth of her feelings for him was such a big deal at the end of the book, but we are really only showed a handful of their interactions and so never really get that deep foundation she refers to later.
This was cute and I really liked the MCs and I loved Diana’s huge family. I think my main issue with this one, is that it’s almost TOO realistic. I feel like a lot of us read romance to read things that are at least a little better than our every day lives, but this one feels so realistic in how it was handled that it kind of takes me out of romance feeling. Even the HEA was really only HFN because….

They don’t even get together until the literal epilogue and there were zero discussions on how they would move forward with their relationship, after there being so much angst about him going back to touring. This was so drawn out and our crops were not watered.

* I’m confused. At the beginning of the story, she says her family owns multiple businesses, not just the cafe. Now they are “fighting for their survival” when just the cafe is doing poorly??
* Also, the cafe finance part wasn’t mentioned at all until around 60%. That’s wild
* I truly don’t understand why he won’t just tell her. Like he hasn’t ever stated any actual reason why he’s not telling her
* Her decision-making skills are very strange to me
* Weird bit in chapter 22 where it seems to switch between Sam and Diana’s POV in the same section. Couple sentences apart
* Yeah, this whole chapter seems to be a mixed POV and it’s throwing me off
* He’s making this so much worse by not telling her
* Why so much focus on staying the designer brands of literally every item of clothing anyone wears?
* I thought Coralie was moving to Greenwich?

I loved the premise going in but quickly found myself disinterested. Too many characters, too much back and forth and not enough clarity.

The premise so this book sounded so good, but the execution fell flat for me. This read like fanficfion but in a bad way. I did think the romance was very nice though.

Por lo regular me alejo de libro en donde los personajes están a principio de sus venintes porque se me hacen inmaduros y aunque aquí, ambos protagonistas son jóvenes, no me incomodo ni sentí como desconexión con la historia,.

If you live laugh love slow burn this is the one for you. The tension? The angst? The longing? SO perfect. Friends to lovers with rocky roads between. This was a sweet easy read. I love the family dynamic & how realistic it was to be in a larger family. I loved the mental health rep for anxiety & how that can affect day to day life no matter who you are. Diana & Sam absolutely frustrated me at some points but it makes it real in a sense. I loved both characters individually & together, they deserve happiness after their last year or so of life being harder.

A super quick read for the fall season

This read like bad fanfiction which is ironic because of the plot. It felt like a Wattpad novel and not in a good way. I would rate this zero stars if I could but sadly I can't so 1 star.

for every delusional person who has dreamed of their celebrity crush falling in love with them (even if you wrote weird fan fiction about them) this book is for you. i won't lie! is it realistic? not at all. is it the best writing i have ever encountered? not really. but this is fun, and silly, and hopeful, and a perfect cozy read. sure, there were parts of the plot that i didn't feel came together in the end, and some issues that never really got resolved. but, if you read this, you have to overlook the fact that this is completely unrealistic and enjoy it anyways, and if you do, you will like it!

What a darling story!! I just loved the characters, and their journey through love. The setting was perfect and the storyline just gave me all the feels. Wonderful job Molly Dunn!

Shades of "You've Got Mail", and who doesn't like that! (And gee, doesn't he sing that Nilsson song? wink wink). Anonymous online, they fall in love - in the family restaurant, yep they fall in love in person, but both hold back. Whew! A fun read, a fun trope, and a great cast of characters. A must for romcom fans!

The story was a bit hard to connect with for some reason. I like the plot idea and thought it would appeal to my romance style. Great cover! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.

I finished this one in one go.
I really liked the premise but the execution missed the mark for me a bit.
I loved the banter between the leads but the writing it self was far too wordy. Every detail of items, places were described with extreme detail and it was great but it felt more like a literary fiction novel than a romance novel. Loved the prose but it felt a bit too much. I would try this author again she did a good job making me care about the characters and the dynamics were there so there's that.
