As always with The Stormlight Archive, this series is deliciously complex. I haven't found any authors, barring Robert Jordan and Tolkien, that can match Sanderson's level of complexity and world building. With multiple POVs, from characters we love and know, dark and twisted "evil" characters, and characters that are not even "human".

This epic tome starts off reiterating that Dalinar Kholin has challenged the evil god Odium to a duel between the two of them. If Dalinar wins, then Odium will leave Roshar, and the people and creatures of Roshar will be saved from the endless cycles of breaking and remaking the world. If Dalinar loses, then he must join forces with Odium in taking over Roshar and all the other lands he wishes to overtake.

The Knights Radiant, including Shallan and Kaladin are embarking on separate quests. Shallan is attempting to release an unmade in order to learn more about them, and at the same time trying to find a way to heal the broken and abandoned Shardblades in Shadesmar. Kaladin is set to travel with Szeth to release one of the Herald, Ishar.

Wind and Truth is said to be the last book in this story arc in the Cosmere Universe. Sanderson said he plans to do five more books in the Stormlight Archive series, but they will be a "separate arc," I'm not entirely sure what that means.

If you're looking to get into Sanderson books, I would recommend starting with Mistborn. It is an amazing book, while being much less complex that the Stormlight Archive series.

A Thrilling Taste of What’s to Come

Having just finished the extended preview of Wind and Truth, I’m more eager than ever for its release. From the very first chapter, Brandon Sanderson hooks you with his description of Roshar and all of the realms within the Cosmere . The plot unfolds with a perfect blend of tension, intrigue, and of course just the right amount of Wit, leaving just enough unanswered questions to keep you craving more.

What stands out most is the seamless weaving of themes between each of the view points we’ve come to expect, and a few new ones who will quickly become favorites. If the rest of the book holds up to this preview, it’s bound to become one of my favorite books of the year. I can’t wait to dive in fully when it releases.

To say that I was psyched out of my mind to have the privilege of reading and listening to advanced copies of the Wind and Truth excerpt is an understatement. I was already eagerly awaiting its release on December 6th, but after reading the 16 hour teaser I’m practically vibrating with anticipation. It’s readily apparent that Sanderson took time and care to write the final installment of the first arc. The characters are growing and the point of views are expending. Fans of the Stormlight series can expect more Cosmere exploration and several new and unexpected romances! I have my audiobooks preordered and ready to go!

Thank you, thank you, thank you Brandon Sanderson, Tor, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for my digital and audio excerpt copies!

I received early access to the audiobook and am absolutely blown away. So far, I'm feeling that Wind and Truth may just be my new favorite in the series. I can't wait to finish up the rest of it when it comes out! Review to be updated once I finish the entire book!.

As a fan of the Cosmere, Sanderson has done a great job already with Wind and Truth. From the characters to the connections, there is so much I'm enjoying. I will be continuing on with the book when it's released on Dec 6th.

Thank you to NetGalley and Tor audiobooks for this early release. It is an extended excerpt, but I was able to dive into immediately after finishing Rhythm of War. Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are still doing an amazing job at bringing the characters to life. I can't wait for the epic conclusion.

I was lucky enough to get an extended preview of the audiobook for Wind and Truth. I don’t want to give anything away, but here are a few points I’d like to highlight:

Β·Length: The extended preview was only the first 15 hours (so about a quarter). It’s wild to think that even this preview could be complete novel in itself.

Β·Cosmere Interconnectedness: The gloves are truly off. The connections across the Cosmere are everywhere. You know it’s been building to this moment, but stillβ€”wow.

Β·Craftsmanship: On a technical level, it delivers exactly what you’d expect. Michael Kramer and Kate Reading knock it out of the park, as always. The prose is clean and straightforward, the plot is coming together beautifully, and many questions I had going in are already being answered.

The rest of this is going to be managing expectations, Sanderson himself said it best when he warned us not to expect and "ending" (like Hero of Ages, for example). This is only the halfway point in The Stormlight Archive, and that's mind boggling.

But if the rest of the book is anything like this preview, it’s shaping up to be an easy 5/5. I am SO excited for publication date!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this review excerpt.

Stormlight Archives are my first books by Brandon Sanderson, and I continue to love it. Are they long? Oh yeah. But I'm excited for the rest

Brilliant as always.

It did feel a little weird at the beginning with Kaladin not being super duper depressy but it evened out. I can’t wait to see what happens after the end of the extended preview!

The fifth and final book of the first half of the Stormlight Archives (a mid-season finale if you will) and it is exactly what I expected, absolutly magnificant. The extended preview which was given to me by NetGalley is absolutly fantastic and does an absolutly fantastic job in setting up the last book. Assuming you have read the other books in the series you would know that the first half of the book tends to be drier then the ends. With the level of tension and action happening in just the first 25% I am so excited to see the ending of this book and the mid-season finale. I am most interested to see what is going on with Szeth and Kaladin. Overall the audiobook was also amazing as usual, with both Kate Reading and Michael Kramer's great performances. I have no complaints about this book and am over joyed to have been given the opportunity to review this excerpt due to NetGalley and Tor.

WOW!!! That is all I can say for the first 15 hours at least. There is always something more with Sanderson books and that is true for Wind and Truth so far. In this battle against Odium everything is on the line for Roshar. The tensions are real as all the players are moved into position on this cosmic chessboard.

I'm hopeful and so scared for all the characters that have become real people in my heart. Dalinar and Navani are probably one of the best written couples in Epic fantasy as their love story isn't the center of the book by any means but just something that adds to the overall depth of the story. The world building is probably the best I've ever read in Epic Fantasy and the interconnections to Mistborn, Warbreaker and Elantris are more pronounced in Wind and Truth. While you don't need to have read those books to understand there are cosmere easter eggs for those in the know.

There have been some absolutely wonderful moments so far and with about 75% of the book left to complete I'm sure in true Sanderson fashion there will be even more.

- Adolin with the music spren and Ryshadium Gallant, was one of my favorites.
- Kaladin and Syl...omg I'm so hopeful that this turns into the thing I've been shipping forever!
*crosses fingers* *prays to the Stormfather* *swears by Ash's Eyes*
- Kaladin with Dalinar and that special request and writ...*tears up*
- A spren following Dabid around!
- And more SO MUCH MORE!!!

Friday Dec 6th (Because Sanderson said) is the release of the rest of the book and I'm so Storming Ready for this.

Narration:

Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are old hats at almost all things Sanderson. They again came to their role fully prepared and give a fantastic performance of a complicated cast level of performance needed for the narration. I have liked all of their prior performances and this one also is going well for the dual narration.

Performance: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

Diction: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…
Pacing/Flow: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…
Sound Effects: limited at the introduction

Brandon Sanderson comes back with Wind and Truth and as always, the audiobook is a hit. When the page count of a book is so daunting, audio always helps me get ahead and feel accomplished. The narrators always do a great job on Sanderson's work. Thank you for the extended excerpt! Can't wait for release day!

Kate Reading and Michael Kramer will NEVER let me down, They bring the story to life. I have already reviewed the story itself, I just wanted to focus on the absolutely stellar performance (as always) they NEVER let me know. Absolutely insane.

This fifth and final book in this arch of the Stormlight Archive focuses on the days leading up to the contest of champions between Odium and Dalinar. It picks up with Shallan and Adolin in Shadesmar which is a creative device that allows us to be reminded what has taken place in the end of "Rhythm of War" as they were not in the Cognitive Realm at that time. There are several lines of the book to include deeper insight into the backstory of Szeth and his homeland, Shallan's quest to deal with her continued connection to the Ghostbloods, how Dalinar leads the nations in light of the challenges before them and also reveals more about Wit. Also brought into question is what happens to a world or worlds when a god becomes another or is destroyed.

Thank you Macmillan Audio and NetGallye for this extended excerpt. The incredible talents of Kate Reading and Michael Kramer are again in full glory with their narrations. They bring to life each character with unique flourish and insight. You will find yourself immersed in the story and visualize the richness of Roshar, Shadesmar and the other locations this story takes you. The verbal depictions of illustrations in the book further enhance the experience.

A highly recommended addition to the series and one I'd suggest choosing in the audio version. There is nothing better than Reading and Kramer transporting you into the imagination of Brandon Sanderson. This book had a slightly different feel from the others. There was a bit more perspective and growth or completion to characters. It has a note of farewell and a resetting of direction. You'll enjoy getting more facets into established characters and some mysterious new ones as well.

πŸŒ¬οΈπŸ—‘οΈ EXCERPT REVIEW πŸ—‘οΈπŸŒ¬οΈ

I was lucky enough to read the first 15 hours of Brandon Sanderson's Wind and Truth. What can I say? Sanderson is masterful in his world building and it seems like book 5 of The Stormlight Archives is no different.

We are thrown right back into the world as we left it. Shallan has less secrets, Kaladin is weirdly positive, and Dalinar is listening to others. Let's just say, with things going this well, I expect s*** to hit the fan πŸ™ƒ

My one suggestion: I would highly recommend reading some kind of summary or review before tackling this one - I forgot just how intricate his worlds are.

A big thank you to NetGalley and Tor for the advanced excerpt!

The story itself is fantastic with complicated characters with diverse problems. Brandon is great at giving characters depth by providing character flaws that make characters relatable and make them feel real in a way that just doesn't happen in other books. Brandon Sanderson also gives many characters a level of over the top silliness that provides comedic relief, and let's you enjoy the series as a fantasy story, rather than a drama.

Micheal and Kate are the very best reading pair. Narrators can make or break an auidiobook and these two always add to the experience. They are both great at distinguishing characters and providing the perfect accents to characters that add to their overall demeanor.

Since this is later in a series of books, a series that is also part of a greater universe, the story can get a bit confusing, but Sanderson does a great job at recapping relevant storylines at the start of the book.

This book is setting up to be something absolutely spectacular and I'll be jumping back in where this left off right around when midnight hits on the 6th. Sanderson is amazing and Kate Reading and Michael Kramer are doing an amazing job reading it.

Brandon Sanderson once again proves why he is the king of intricate multi-layered storytelling and world-building. We pick up with Dalinar's challenge with Odium, which couldn't make the stakes any higher, with the future of the entire Cosmere resting on this single contest. Every moment feels like a ticking clock, building hope and tension for the reader. Each of the series' beloved characters are on a quest to discover mysteries or find something within themselves. The writing balances these storylines while maintaining the clarity of the plot. The shifting perspectives permit the reader to access the story's scope and the character's intricate impact that propels the narrative forward. The creation of complex characters like Kaladin and his struggle with inner demons allows him to showcase growth and resilience across the series. Every character feels purposeful, and their interactions display emotional depth. While this book has a serious tone, great moments of wit and humor lighten the mood and serve as delightful banter to develop joy against some intense moments. I was drawn in from the first sentence and am yearning for more. I received an audiobook extended excerpt. The same narrators continue voicing the characters from the series. I honestly could not image anyone else bringing Sanderson's world to life except Kate Reading and Michael Kramer. They immerse the listeners into the storyline and connect them to each character with emotional nuisance. They are absolutely captivating. Thank you, NetGalley and Tor Publishing.
