[RTC - ch. 34 and on]
I saw this and requested it before realizing it was an extended excerpt. Usually, those annoy me, but this was sixteen hours long. This book will be fat, and I have zero complaints.
I will tell anyone that listens that this is Brandy Sandy's (Marquise and others prefer Brando Sando, but my sister's book club calls him Brandy Sandy) best series. However, if you're newer to fantasy, or the cosmere as a whole, start with Misborn.
Books 1-3 remade me as a reader. I struggled with book 4, and to date, it is the only one I haven't re-read. That will change. I have clearly forgotten the bulk of this, and need a refresher before starting anew.
Brandon Sanderson is Mormon. You may not think a lot on this as you go in, but I always find religion is important to a person's writing. Everything that affects their life is. I hate the term woke, and I am woke. This book is trying. He is trying.
We explored Shallan's dissociative identity disorder in the last book. She is one of my favorite characters in this series, and I love every time we do a deep dive into her character. It is noted in this book that while she and Kaladin have had moments, due to their traumas, they should not be together. You may think chemistry is important, but so is having healthy attachment styles. Can you tell I've been dating?
My sadboi baby Renarin is out there trying to explore his budding sexuality, while also dealing with extreme anxiety and autism spectrum disorder. I adore him. I adore Adolin. I adore Dalinar, that grumpy old man. Lift knows what's up when she calls him Tight Butt. I digress.
Rlain still struggles, being the only member of Bridge Four that hasn't bonded a spren. We see so little of the listeners outside of Odium's followers that I find myself desperately grasping for each morsel we get of him.
More happens. War is brewing. The big fight is coming. Who will win? Dalinar, as something more than human? Odium, who is not quite Odium? What is Wit up to?
🎧 Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio

There are many things I’m thankful for this Thanksgiving week and getting an extended excerpt on my most anticipated EOY reads is one of them. So thank you #netgalley and @Macmillan.Audio for this generous ARC.
So if I’m estimating correctly, the excerpt (15 hrs 47 mins) is about 23-24ish percent of the book.
Here are my thoughts so far:
- I appreciate that Brandon Sanderson has a small village of people to maintain this level of epic greatness but storms – could someone on that team create a 3-4 page summary at the start of each book moving forward? “Last time on The Stormlight Archive…” I know many fans were able to sneak in rereads but my TBR & life didn’t allow it. :( And even though I fell back into this world easily- I really would have appreciated the little memory bump at the start.
- This continues to be top notch high fantasy. TBH, this series feels like coming home.
- I found myself laughing out loud at dialogue. Syl (what she calls btwn her two legs😅🤭), Lift (I agree- with God like powers, porridge should taste that way), and Armor (the way they communicate is so flipping adorable) all steal the show in this first quarter. I have never been more excited to watch character development unfold.
- In my dream world, Sanderson steps into romance a little more. And he sort of does, but it’s for a couple I’m not 100% sure I’m rooting for. Like I love the characters but unsure if they are well suited for each other. 🤔
- This big baby covers 8 days (I think) and I made it through two of them. Make sure you strapped in for the rollercoaster. With this level of magic, it feels like we’ll be screaming throughout.
So pumped to continue this adventure December 6, 2025! I’m sure it’ll be my entire personality for most of December. 😅

December 6th can’t come fast enough! Brandon Sanderson is a true master at what he does. I’m so glad I’m seeing more people purchase his books at my store because I could rave about him for eons!

I received an audiobook excerpt from NetGalley and OH EM GEE! Not that I expected less, but I NEED the rest of this ASAP! I cannot wait to finish the latest book in the Stormlight Archive.
As always, Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are first class narrators. A masterful performance for a series which deserves nothing less. Sanderson continues to deliver in world-building, storytelling, and these characters *mwah*
EPIC TEASE, SIR.
Thank you #WindandTruthSneakPeek #NetGalley

Two of my most favorite narrators and my favorite author! I don't know how to survive the next 2 weeks waiting for the rest of Wind and Truth! This was amazing! I loved it so much!

It's really hard to review a preview for such a large book, but Sanderson is a bloody genius. The tension starts and just keeps ramping up until the end of day two when things just...explode. I cannot wait for the rest of this book, it's my most anticipated book of all time, beating out the final harry potter book all those years ago.
Well done Sanderson. Cant wait to see where you take these threads in the rest of the book.

As a cosmere fanatic the only thing I didn't LOVE was that this was just an excerpt and not the full length book!
Dec 6 cannot come soon enough, this excerpt has me foaming at the mouth for more

I can't WAIT for the rest of the book, this was insane and has you hooked! Sanderson really knows how to hit every mark with every book without it feeling like a repeat

Thanks to #Tor Publishing and #NetGalley for providing me with an extended excerpt of the audiobook. Through their generosity I was able to listen to a quarter of #WindandTruth. Please bear in mind that my five star rating is based on the portion I was able to listen to. It’s been a while since I’ve been in the Cosmere and as soon as I heard Kate and Michael reading Brandon’s words I felt calm. This is exactly what I look for in a book, and I don’t mean calm in the sense that the book doesn’t include action or reveal answers to the questions of fans. I am someone who struggles with major depression disorder and anxiety so calm for me means the book has allowed me for the time I’m in it to escape. A big part of this comfort comes from Brandon’s continued efforts to write about mental health issues within his stories. It’s clear from this book that he has continued his education on these issues and that makes me so happy as a reader. Often times it can feel like people in your life don’t take the time to try and understand you, but to know that your favorite author does is something special.
I won’t give away any spoilers as the book isn’t even released, but am confident fans will be thrilled to be back in Roshar.
Thanks again to Brandon, Kate, Michael, Tor Publishing, and #NetGalley for this preview.

WHHAAAAAATTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!! OMG! This is a review of the extended excerpt and sweet Jesus it is good! If you are not used to Brandon Sanderson's books or haven't read the first 4 books, PLEASE DO NOT START HERE. The world and character-building is chef's kiss but what else did you expect?
Mr. Sanderson has given what was expected with this and I am waiting for December to dive into this world completely. Can we give this cover a hand clap? And the voice actors for his audiobooks are always top-notch. I am honestly at a loss for words... I can't wait for this release!
Thank you Netgalley, Macmillan Audio, and Brandon Sanderson for this EPIC ALC Wind and Truth. I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.

I storming need the rest of this book right now!! Man, the stakes are raised and crem is going down. I can't wait to see where this goes - but also... help? I'm scared??!
Also, what is there to say about Kramer and Reading? Absolutely perfect delivery of every cosmere book. They ARE these characters.

More incredibly epic stuff from Brandon Sanderson. Can't wait to get my hands on the rest! We get glimpses of Odium's plans and it seems like things are coming to an amazing close for this arc.

Delightful teaser for the upcoming book! Narrators are the same amazing duo that narrate the earlier book in this series. A highly anticipated fifth book and finale to the Stormlight Archive by Sanderson, who never disappoints.

5🌟
Thank you netgalley for the arc! I feel like I don't even need to say anything, excpet this was just an except so I cannot WAIT for the remainder of the book. I love Brandon Sanderson, the way he writes, and his characters. I have been following these characters for countless pages (re: thousands of pages) and I cannot wait to see how it ends! December 6th can't come soon enough!

Excellent narration by Michael Kramer and Kate Reading who always perform top notch. I am highly anticipating the full book to release.

Wind and Truth Extended Excerpt Audio Review
Michael Kramer and Kate Reading have such an uncanny ability to embody each of the characters in The Stormlight Archive to such a degree that it is honestly shocking to learn they are not native to Roshar itself! A huge thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, and Brandon Sanderson for the chance to preview an extended excerpt of the audiobook for Wind and Truth. Having listened to each book in The Stormlight Archive, I can say with confidence that Michael Kramer and Kate Reading’s passion for this series, and their connection to each of these characters, is infectious. Although the audiobook for Wind and Truth boasts a massive almost 63 hour total runtime (of which I previewed about 15 hours), it’s easy to lose track of time listening to Michael and Kate bounce between perspectives. One of my favorite minor aspects of the Stormlight audiobooks is that there are instances in which Kate and Michael get the chance to narrate a perspective that is typically narrated by the other based on how they divide up the recording assignments for each chapter. These moments not only happen so seamlessly that it’s almost hard to notice when it does happen, but it is a special treat to see how each narrator breathes life into these characters in their own unique ways. Michael and Kate do not simply read the script for these books, they become these characters.
I started reading and listening to preview chapters of Wind and Truth as they were released weekly starting in July on the website for Reactor Magazine. Now that I find myself at approximately the quarterway point I can reaffirm with absolute certainty that the notoriously daunting task of picking up any book in The Stormlight Archive will always be met with a serious emotionally satisfying payoff to anyone willing to start the Journey. When I first picked up The Way of Kings, I came out of that experience a person changed for the better. Each book thereafter has had a similarly profound impact on my life, and Wind and Truth is shaping up to follow that trend.
As an avid reader, and English teacher, any of Sanderson’s works are a staple in my list of recommended reads. For readers new to Brandon Sanderson’s works, or the Cosmere, Wind and Truth is the fifth installment in The Stormlight Archive. The series starts with The Way of Kings - I personally began my Journey here, and within the first few chapters I became eternally grateful to have rediscovered a love of reading I thought was long lost. The Way of Kings is not the only place to start; Mistborn and Tress of the Emerald Sea are also frequently recommended as excellent starting points. Although they take place on different planets than The Stormlight Archive, the beauty of the Cosmere is that everything is connected. You as the reader have the choice to engage with these connections, no matter how small or monumental, in whatever way you see fit! Both Mistborn and Tress have audiobooks which are also narrated by the legendary Michael Kramer. While I said earlier in my review that both Michael Kramer and Kate Reading could convincingly pass as native Rosharans, the truth of the matter is that I would not be surprised to find out that they spend their freetime worldhopping around the Cosmere and simply come back to Earth to complete these recordings. They are just that good.
Although Wind and Truth is the final book in the first arc of this series, the Journey won’t be ending anytime soon as The Stormlight Archive will span a total of at least 10 books! The depth and breadth of these characters, as well as the worldbuilding, is what really makes Sanderson’s writing shine. Opening this book feels like being transported to another world. At the same time, the realism and nuance with which Sanderson explores mental illness, neurodivergence, gender, sexuality, and more would have you believe he is writing from his own lived experience. Sanderson is known for his proclivity to disrupt genre norms, and these stories are truly a breath of fresh air in the world of Sci-Fi and Fantasy, written by a once in a generation master of the art. That being said, as this is a review specifically for the audiobook version, it would be remiss of me not to mention again that the narration is as equally captivating as the content of the book itself. As much as Sanderson is a master at writing, Michael Kramer and Kate Reading are masters at bringing these stories to life. I am on the edge of my seat waiting for December 6th. #WindandTruthSneakPeek #NetGalley. #WindandTruthHype

Kate Reading and Michael Kramer did an amazing job of narrating as usual.
Sanderson delivers excellence... as usual. Not gonna lie, I did not read book 4 because life has been busy. I missed a lot but easily picked up what the story was laying down and got hooked into this story just like I was before. We will absolutely be buying the audiobook when it comes out and thanks for the opportunity to listen to a bit of it early. Great work all around!

Never in my life have I been more excited for a book release. Listening to 15 hours of this is almost a curse because what exactly do I do while I wait 2 more weeks for the finished release. What I got to listen to was absolutely brilliant and epic. I have no doubts that Brandon Sanderson will nail this first arc to the Stormlight Archive.

Oops, All Sanderlanche! The fifth full installment in The Stormlight Archive starts with the same propulsion that Sanderson is known for bringing to the end of his books. From the very first chapter, readers are treated to new revelations and an urgent reframing of the central conflict that makes this the biggest page-turner in the series since The Way of Kings. Thanks to the fine folks at Macmillan audio, I was able to read the first two parts of Wind and Truth, and I'm eagerly awaiting the rest.
Without going into spoilers, I'll say this entry has everything I have been hoping for as a longtime fan of the series. The world continues to expand in scope as our heroes grow in depth. There are references to other series, but they're organic teases that only heighten the realism of the world. Roshar feels like a lived-in place with a rich history. I'm thankful to spend a few more days in this world of Radiants before the long break leading up to book six. But don't fret the gap--I'm sure there will be years worth of discussion to keep us company!

A great being to 5 book of the Stormlight Archive and th end of this first Era. Can't wait to read the rest of it soon.
