Thank you to the publisher for allowing me the opportunity to read this book prior to publishing! There is something about enemies to lovers and slow burn romances that gets me excited to read a romance with funny moments and great character growth. Jill Shalvis is becoming an author I am looking forward to reading more and more!

The Love Fix is a cozy, heartfelt romance with all the feels. Lexi Clark returns to Sunrise Cove to honor her estranged mother's dying wish: delivering six apology letters alongside her stepsister, Ashley. Enter Heath Bowman, Lexi's childhood nemesis-turned-crush, who volunteers to help, sparking all kinds of tension and growth.
Tropes I loved:
- Enemies-to-Friends-to-Lovers
- Small Town Drama
- Family Healing
- Second Chances
Shalvis nails the humor and emotional depth, with Lexi's growth and her dynamic with Heath as the highlights. The pacing faltered a bit, with some slow spots and an ending that wrapped up too quickly (where's my epilogue?). But overall, it's a heartfelt story about forgiveness and finding love where you least expect it.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC!

This is my first book of Jill Shalvis that I’ve read and I was really excited as she has so many with decent reviews. With this being “Sunrise Cove #8” I wanted to make sure whether I had to read the other 7 in the series first. I found out that you can read Jill Shalvis's books in any order because they are written as stand-alones. However, if you like reading series you can read them in order and enjoy cameos from characters in other books.

I really was looking forward to this book. I love a good cozy romance with huge character growth and challenging family dynamics. However, I hate to say it but I just barely finished this book (even though I started the New Year vowing that I wouldn’t force myself to power through and finish a book that I felt was a lost cause just because I felt guilty). It was alarming to myself given how promising the author’s star ratings are for other books.
There were too many confusing, inconsistent, irrelevant details for my liking.

For starters: the relationships between some characters wasn’t clear right away. I’m actually still not entirely sure even after going back and re-reading for clarity. Personally, I didn’t think this was a book where I would have to highlight details and reference back complex information in order to keep up with the storyline (like when I dive into world-building books I am 100% prepared to have to do that. Cozy romance? Not so much).

The timeline/history is also unclear for several reasons. I am also surprised at finding out what some of the main reasoning are for why Lexi is the way she is. It all seems a bit melodramatic.

This is also apparently a nemesis-turned-crush but other than some teasing in elementary school, I’m not really sure where their tension comes from? Why did they despise each other in school other than they were both competitive and that’s what boys and girls do sometimes when they like each other? And then there’s the additional, frustrating miscommunication trope.

Next, with the inconsistency of details. There were a handful of times where details in the same scene contradicted each other. For example; a character is wearing a specific outfit and the next minute it’s detailed that her outfit she’s changing out of is completely different.

Lastly, the spice and sex scenes were absolutely lacking and weak. There was so much potential there too.

I know I read an unedited version but I felt this was a tad all over the place, amateur, and poorly written.

Thank you NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for an electronic ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I didn’t feel connected to any of the characters in the book, and I thought the story was a bit confusing to follow at points. I also wasn’t the biggest fan of the author’s writing style.

A sweet story about finding love in many forms.

At first I really related to Lexi, but it seemed like her entire character shifted part way through the book to help wrap the story up how it ended. I don't think the Lexi from the beginning and the Lexi at the end are the same person, even after going through delivering the letters. By the end, I knew what the conclusion would be and was reading to finish.

Really enjoyed this book! The Love Fix, by Jill Shavis is a moving story of healing from past trauma and family reconciliation. Lexi, an estate appraiser had her heart broken and had been wrongfully fired from her job. Just as she was running out of funds, she was summoned back to Sunrise Cove on the one year anniversary of her mom’s death to join her step sister Ashley to hand deliver a series of letters as their mom’s last wish. Embarking on this journey forced Lexi to face some very real childhood traumas and to forge new relationships with Ashley and Heath, the executor of her mom’s estate and former childhood friend. I loved to see the healing journey these characters undertook to learn to build family and friendship- and to risk opening their hearts to each other. Highly recommend!

Not my favorite book by this author, I had a hard time getting into it but it was a nice, cozy quick read. The romance was good and I enjoyed the combination of romance along with Lexi working through some trauma.

This book was okay! The premise of the book revolves around two characters, Heath and Lexi. Lexi has come home to distribute letters to people her mother had chosen before she died. She struggles with wanting to be there for her sister, Ashley, and her disdain for her mother who was never really there for her when she was younger. Attraction grows between her and Heath, who has ghosts of his own, and they start to pick things up where they left off (since they have known each other for a long time).

I think the hook at the beginning of the story is great. It reels you and you get a great introduction to Lexi. But after that, for me, things just kind of stay stagnant. It felt like the story should have been told in first person rather than third, and I have never thought that about a book until this one. I love both the third and first person, but in my opinion, the first person would have enhanced this book so much more.

I hate to say it but the story just kind of fell flat in the middle and I found it a struggle to continue reading. But other than that, I do like Heath's character and I think he was well-written.

Thank you to the author and NetGalley for an eARC of this book in exchange for an honest review!

I've read a few previous books from Jill Shalvis, and I find that her style is consistent, and the stories revolve around friendship and family. Was this my favorite book of hers? No, but it kept to her tried and true formula and it generally worked for me. I think the book hit its stride best when Heath's family was more involved and we got more backstory on what Lexi and Heath went through as children. It's a good book to read on a weekend, and when you want to read something that will give you the ending where everyone is happy in the end. 3.5 stars for me.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.

A year after her mother’s passing Lexi returns home when stepsister Ashley pleas with her to come home to fulfill their late mother’s final wish of hand delivering 6 envelopes to make amends with people she wronged.
I really felt for Lexi, being jealous of her stepsister Ashleys relationship with her mom, while Lexi lived with her father. All Lexi had known from her mother was broken promises and built walls around her heart.
Between Ashley and childhood crush Heath her walls around her heart start to crumble.
A heartwarming story of forgiveness amd letting go.

Another fabulous story from the amazing Jill Shalvis. From the heartbreak of feeling unloved, to finding the strength to return to the place that hurt you, to finding closure and new beginnings this story has it all. Set around the splendor that is the Tahoe basin, this just adds to the beauty of this story.

This book was cheesy at times but still a cute, sweet, and easy read. I enjoyed it, although I wasn’t always a fan of the humor.

This is such a fun and engaging read for romance fans . Jill Shalvis delivers a heartwarming story with great characters, a touch of humor, and a satisfyingly sweet resolution. If you enjoy small-town romances with a touch of angst and a healthy dose of charm, this book is worth checking out. Jill makes romance humorous and sexy once again.

A year after the death of her mother, Lexi Clark is summoned back to Sunrise Cove, where she must revisit her past. Accompanied by her exuberant and high-spirited half-sister Ashley and her childhood rival/crush Heath Bowman, Lexi is forced to follow through with her mother’s last wish, navigating grief, unexpected love, and profound personal growth.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to connect to this book as much as I hoped for. It was a struggle to get through, the pacing was kind of slow, which led to me dropping the book several times. It just didn't seem to hook me enough to WANT to keep reading. And while I did finish it, I can't say it inspires me to pick another book by this author. The prompt had so much potential, it just wasn’t executed in a way that satisfied me as a reader.

Thanks Avon | Harper Voyager and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

Jill Shalvis does it again. I love her books and am so thankful for the opportunity to have been able to get my “hands” on this ARC. One thing I’ll always love about Jill is her writing style. The longing and yearning between characters, the emotional growth and character depth are unmatched.

2/5 stars

this book follows lexi as she returns to her hometown after her mom's death to help her sister, ashley, fulfill their mother's dying wish, with the help of her childhood friend/more than friends, heath.

i liked the overall premise of the book, but found it difficult to continue as it just seemed like lexi was stuck in this cycle of self-pity, which eventually got tiring. i also thought the "road trip" mentioned was a long, winding road trip, but it was more of them just visiting the homes or places of the other people they were supposed to find and returning back home afterwards. for whatever reason, I did not like ashley as a character. she seemed so naive to her sister's feelings and pretty much ignored her overall struggle to reintegrate into her life at sunrise cove, or the fact that she was asking a lot from someone who went through a whole lot of struggles and had no intention of reliving them. ashley was asking a lot from lexi and just couldn't seem to understand that it was hard for lexi because lexi didn't have the same motherly experience ashley had.

toward the end, the story did become much more interesting and captivating, and the introduction of other characters, such as heath's family and the lexi's interaction with them, definitely increased my anticipation to finish it. i enjoyed the silly banter between heath and his family, especially with his grandfather.

in the end, I think I started to like the book and the characters a bit more, and I'm glad I finished it.

thanks to netgalley for the arc!

Always love any Jill Shalvis book. This was an easy read with an interesting concept but did not keep my attention as much as others. Still, the writing was great. I’ll definitely read more of her books.

I always enjoy the heartfelt and emotional writing of Jill Shalvis. In this book, we follow Lexi as she travels with her sister Ashley and her childhood crush Heath to fulfill her late mother's wishes.

This is a book about repairing relationships and learning how to open up. Each character had their own issues to work through, and I think their struggles were very well written. I found myself really rooting for Lexi, even when she was being stubborn and bitter. Each character had a lot of childhood trauma, and I think it was handled well. As an only child, I'm a sucker for sibling drama, and I really enjoyed the relationship journey between Lexi and Ashley. I was really satisfied with how that wrapped up.

The relationship between Lexi and Heath was just ok; I didn't feel a ton of chemistry between them. This is book 8 in a series, and I think it'd be helpful to read the others before reading this one. It's not entirely necessary, but I think it would help.

The cover is absolutely beautiful!
