This was such an emotional story.  I laughed at times and I cried at times.  I really liked Lexi and how strong she was after all that she had been through with her mom, Daisy and her dad and his new wife and kids.  It was interesting learning of Lexi's past relationship with Daisy. Her mom had a gambling addiction and she had to go live with her dad after her parents divorced when Lexi was ten.

She had returned home to Sunrise Cove to see her sister, Ashley, and to hand out the six letters her mom had written before she died.  They were to be handed out one year after her death.  Those letters helped Lexi learn about her mom and to see her in a different light.  They also provided some interesting roadtrips for Lexi, Ashley, and Heath.

I liked how Lexi reconnected with Heath, her childhood nemesis who she had crushed on.  He had his own childhood demons he was wrestling with and Lexi knew nothing about what he had gone through to protect his younger brother, Cole.   His dad was an alcoholic.Together they were learning to trust and believe they were truly worthy of love, which neither one believed but oh so desparately wanted and needed.

Jill Shalvis knows how to write a contemporary romance. This one is half romance, half contemporary fiction, as there are two relationships: Lexi and her younger stepsister, and Lexi and her childhood nemesis, Heath.

If you want a story where the protagonist comes to terms with her late mother while attempting to earn her inheritance and repair her relationship with her step sister, while the executer of the estate (Heath) is there to support and poke her at every step, this is for you. It's about coming home and finding home.

A very solid family story and romance.

Coming into the last book in the Sunrise Cove series, this one took me on an emotional rollercoaster. Lexi has a lot of complicated feelings towards her mother, for good reason, and being called back home a year after her mother passed to fulfil her final wishes isn't really something she's interested in doing. She's only doing it, because her step-sister Ashley has asked her to come home, and no one can say no to Ashley.

I loved watching Ashley and Lexi grow closer and come to terms that both of them knew different sides of Lexi's mother. Ashley was fun, and watching her meddle in Lexi and Heath's relationship was at times pretty funny. I also loved Lexi and Heath's enemies-to-lovers slow-burn romance. The banter between them was spot on, and the chemistry between them was palpable. Heath's family was wonderful, and the interactions between them all had me laughing out loud.

I enjoyed this from beginning to end, and I can't wait to read more of Jill Shalvis's backlist while I wait for her next book to be released!!

This story hit me right in the feels. Maybe because I had a complicated parent/sibling situation, maybe because secrets about money were always an issue, or maybe just because it's that darn good. Back in Sunrise Cove (though not related to any of the other books besides the locale), we meet Lexi who has returned to town to deal with her mother's will and last wishes. Enter Heath, childhood friend of Lexi's and the will executor and the town's Mr. Fix-it. You have a problem and Heath will solve it. An added complication is the fact that Lexi has to move back into her old childhood home (she moved away to live with her Dad after her parents split) with her step sister Ashley (raised by Daisy, the mom). So many complications!

Lexi commits to staying in town despite that not being her plan, so she can carry out Daisy's last wishes with Ashley. Heath jumps or gets dragged in, keeping secrets all the while which of course complicates his and Lexi's growing relationship.

I loved the complexity of the relationships in this book, the cast of characters never failed to make me smile, laugh and cry. Twists and turns i never expected as each task/wish was completed. This had the typical heart, sass and humor of all Jill Shalvis books.

I voluntarily reviewed an Advances Reader Copy of this book.

Lexi Clark’s life hasn’t been easy, but with despite all the setbacks, she’s carved a place for herself in New Yorks fine object appraisal business. She loves her boss, professionally and personally. When valuable objects go missing though, her firm, and the boss, throw her under the bus without evidence. She’s summarily fired.
At the same time, her stepsister in Sunrise Cove, an idyllic Lake Tahoe community, need her to come home to deal with the remains of their mother’s estate. Sunrise Cove is the site of the neglect and abuse that Lexi underwent as a child. Her “nemesis,” has moved in next door to help his elderly grandfather, and Lexi realizes just how much unfinished business she has.
Beautiful setting, charming and complicated characters and oh so satisfying HEA’s are Shalvis’ many lovely books, and they don’t disappoint in The Love Fix, which was released June 24, 2025, by Avon and Harper Voyager. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced readers copy.

Jill Shalvis is the queen of small town romance. I have read so many of her books and they are all great. The Love Fix has a mixture of childhood trauma, miscommunication and of course romance. As always the best thing about the book are the characters. They are all so easy to fall in love with, even the side characters. This is book 8 of the Sunrise Cove series but they can be read as standalones. I do recommend the whole series and legit everything by her.

Thanks to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for a gifted copy in exchange for a honest review.

3.75 ⭐️

If you're looking for a book to just chill with, maybe on a road trip, this one's a winner. Full disclosure, there were a few moments where things got a bit spicy, and yeah, I might have let out a little snort-laugh or two. You'll know it when you read it, trust!

The setting is just chef's kiss – hello, Lake Tahoe! It seriously made me wanna pack my bags and jet off to that magical spot. We follow Lexi, a total boss babe who appraises furniture and just got unfairly canned. She's got some serious trust issues after getting burned big time, and honestly, who could blame her? Her fam sitch is a whole thing, too – parental split, college money mysteriously vanished (side-eyeing Daisy, the stepmom, for that one).

Then Daisy, the stepmom, kicks the bucket, and a year later, Lexi's stepsister, Ashley, hits her up for help with Daisy's stuff. Ashley's trying to bridge the gap, but Lexi's low-key salty that Ashley got to chill with Daisy, who, apparently, was a way cooler parent than her own dad. And can I just say, this whole "sorting through a parent's things" hit me right in the feels. Been there, done that, it's a beast! So, yeah, that totally hooked me.
And obvi, there's a love story in the mix! Enter Heath, a top-tier lawyer who ditched the high-life for something real. He's got a heartbreaking past and is basically a built-in protector for his younger bro. Their push-pull dynamic is everything and keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Lexi's a trip – complex with a capital C, and she's got a ton of emotional baggage, which, fair enough, considering her rough upbringing. Sometimes I wanted to shake her a little 'cause she could be a bit of a negative Nancy and totally oblivious to what Heath was going through. But hey, character growth, right?
Heath himself? Total swoon-worthy material. So patient, so understanding – basically the dream book bae. I kinda wished they'd dug a bit deeper into the stepsister's struggles and her connection with Lexi, 'cause there was some serious potential there.

Now, about Lexi's mom's "redemption arc"... honestly, it didn't quite land for me. She was still pretty much a terrible mom to Lexi, no matter how sweet she was to everyone else. But at its core, this book is all about relationships and how they totally shape us, and I was here for that!

Overall, "The Love Fix" is a triple threat of friendship, sisterly love, and straight-up romance. Everyone's got obstacles to overcome, but watching these characters grow? Pure gold! It's a real rollercoaster of emotions, and honestly, a winner in my book. You should totally check it out!

I’m so sad to see this series come to an end!
The Love Fix is the final and 8th book in the Sunrise Cove series by Jill Shalvis.
I love pretty much everything Jill Shalvis writes, and TLF is no exception.
I found this to be a delightful read. I've loved every book in the Sunrise Cove series, and this one is a fantastic addition. Once again these are delightful characters.
Filled with Shalvis's usual heart, humor and likeable characters, The Love Fix delivers on every level!

Jill Shalvis has added another wonderful book to the Sunrise Cove Series. I have missed a couple of the books in the series, but each book can be read as a stand-alone. Each book gives us a story all on its own, but you will run into characters from other books.
I feel so lucky to have found Jill Shalvis and her wonderful writing style.
Once you have read a book by her you will be drawn to her other books. The covers on each book are all very eye catching!
Thank you NetGalley, Jill Shalvis and Avon and Harper Voyager for the copy of The Love Fix. This is my personal review.

The Love Fix is the eight book in the Sunrise Cove series by Jill Shavis. This was such a cozy summer read! It had the perfect mix of humor, heartfelt emotion, and family-centered moments that really hit home.

This was my second read from this author, and I loved that I could jump right into the series—each book stands alone and feels easy to settle into.

The story follows Lexi as she returns to her hometown of Sunrise Cove to carry out her late mother’s final wishes. What unfolds is a touching journey of grief, healing, and reconnection—especially between Lexi and her sister, Ashley. Watching their bond slowly rebuild felt so authentic and emotional. Definitely a must add to TBR!

Thank you @jillshalvis @netgalley for the #gifted ARC and @hambright_pr for the #gifted bookmail in exchange for my honest review, it was a wonderful read 📚💖

This was such a nice read. Lexie is an estate appraiser who has recently been dumped by her boyfriend and fired from her job through no fault of her own. She is definitely an overachiever, but doesn’t seem to have much of a social life. She shuts herself off from people and seems to lack confidence, even though she doesn’t show it. She hears from her “sister” that her mother left a request before she died and Ashley needs her help to fulfill it. Lexie really doesn’t want to get involved, but since she’s not really doing anything else, she decides to make a quick trip there to get it over with. Upon her arrival she finds Ashley at the airport along with her childhood nemesis Heath. After she settles in, Ashley tells her that there are six envelopes they must deliver together to people her mother has wronged during her life. One is to be delivered every week. Heath is also involved as he is the executor of the estate. This isn’t what Lexie has in mind, but she reluctantly agrees to go along with it. This is such a beautiful, heartwarming story that you will be happy you chose to read it.

This book is like emotional baggage meets carry-on chaos. Lexi’s road trip with her childhood enemy (who’s suddenly hot, rude) had me laughing, cringing, and cheering her on. Four stars for the drama, the feels, and the undeniable proof that love might just survive a family-fueled disaster."

Thank you to Netgalley, Jill and her AMAZING publishing team at Avon who I adore!! <3

What to Expect:
⭐ Enemies to Lovers
⭐ Forced Proximity
⭐ Grumpy Sunshine/Freespirit
⭐ Second chance at Family
⭐ Road Trip Bonding
⭐ Legacy from a flawed parent

TW: This book discusses loss of parent due to substance abuse and childhood trauma

My Thoughts:
This is a deep story of forgiveness and healing childhood traumas. Its about healing broken relationships and a second chance at being family. The loss of a parent is the center of the story and the legacy that parent left behind. While the story is filled with a lot of loss, sadness, discussion of childhood trauma and how that has impacted every single person in the story. The story is also about healing. It is about finding love & support in a sister. It is about finding a chance at love which wasn't expected. More so it is about the healing of a broken woman carrying around so much hurt and trauma from decisions both her parents made in the past.

Main character Lexi really uses this journey home to figure out who she is, what she wants and also who she wants to be in the future. I genuinely found Lexi relatable on so many levels. While a bit over emotional at times, you could really see deep down she was ready & willing for change in her life. That she retrospectively learned hard being stubborn & difficult made a huge impact on the trajectory of her life, her relationships & her view of the world.

You will find yourself both annoyed, frustrated & rooting Lexi on each step of the way! You will also fall in love with the sub characters! Heaths Grandpa is one of my favorites! His non-filter "blame it on being old" mindset is just the best! He made me laugh! Also Heaths brother is the same! No filter & hysterical!

Thank you Jill for taking us back to Sunrise Cove! I love every single one of these stories and the location!! You never disappoint!

Synopsis:
Lexi Clark’s life is falling apart around her, so when she’s summoned home to Sunrise Cove, the last thing she wants to do is face all the complications she left behind. Her past, her stepsister Ashley, and especially her infuriatingly gorgeous childhood nemesis-turned-crush Heath Bowman.

Yep, Lexi’s pretty sure being home again just might kill her. She’s an overachieving art appraiser who doesn’t believe in trust, love, or Happily Ever Afters. Free spirit Ashley, on the other hand, is so full of life it hurts to look at her. But Lexi can’t refuse Ashley’s plea to honor their late mother’s final wish to make amends with the people she’d wronged. So, on behalf of her estranged mother’s estate—and with Heath in tow as the executor—Lexi embarks on a road trip to repay all the people her gambling addicted mother owed money to.

Complicating everything are the feelings that well up for Lexi: for her mom, for Ashley, and most of all, for Heath. And for the record, she doesn’t like it, or the way he has of scaling the walls she’s built around her heart. The road trip shenanigans that ensue are both funny and heartbreaking, but Lexi finds something shocking along the way. Acceptance. Family. And unbelievably—if you ask Lexi anyway—love.

Oh Jill Shalvis, you did it again! The Love Fix had me staying up late, waking up early, and not wanting to put the book down. From the first time I saw this gorgeous cover I knew that Heath and Lexi would be a couple that I would want to be friends with. Their histories broke my heart and their relationship helped to put it back together.

As I got to know all the characters and their histories, I just became more invested. I needed Lexi to connect with her sister. I wanted Heath to win over Lexi. I had high hopes that Lexi’s relationship with her deceased mother would somehow get better and heal Lexi’s heart some. This is a lot to ask of an author, a lot to put into a book, yet Jill Shalvis was able to put more than what I expected into the book.

The Love Fix is a perfect summer read. I devoured it in just over 24 hours not wanting to put it down.

Lexi has spent her life pushing people away as a defense mechanism after her mother disappointed her so many times. Now, a year after Daisy passed, Lexi's half sister Ashley calls her home to Sunrise Cove to fulfill their mother's last wish... to deliver envelopes to the people she wronged in her life. And the executor of her estate is none other than Lexi's childhood nemesis/ secret crush Heath. As time goes on and Lexi falls for the town and gets closer to her sister and Heath, can she make a new life here and trust those close to her to be there for her?
The two MCs both had such similar childhood issues and finally learning this about each other helped them soften the hard edges of their past. I had a hard time connecting with Lexi's character as she was so angry in the beginning, but Heath was such a great character. I loved the tent scene! Looking forward to the next book in the Sunrise Cove series!

While this is listed as the #8 book in the series, all of the books are stand-alone. The books are all set in a single location and that is their only connection.

I really enjoyed this book. It is a bit different from many of Ms. Shalvis' books in that it is not really a lighthearted read. There is a lot of angst in this story. The main characters have both had abusive childhoods, and dealt with parents with addictions. While the focus is not on that it does play a very big role in the character's arcs.

Lexi comes back home to fulfill her dead Mom's last wish, distributing letters to people she cared about. She does this with her sister Ashley and Heath - her childhood nemesis. Both Lexi and Heath are fairly broken and do not trust easily. There relationship is more of a slow burn. I really like the growth shown throughout the story for the two main characters. The only one I really had an issue with was Ashley (Lexi's sister). I did not feel there was much growth in her character, nor was she that interesting.

I do wish there had been an epilogue. For me, the ending was a bit abrupt and I would have liked to have read more.

Thank you to Netgalley and Avon for the opportunity to review this ARC.

Lexi Clark's flight into Sunset Cove is stressful, turbulent, just like her life. Having been fired from her job and dumped by her boyfriend, she is still reluctant to come back to visit her step-sister, Ashley, a year after her mother passed away, Sunset Cove holding many unhappy memories from her childhood. She is welcomed at the airport by Ashley and Lexi's childhood rival and crush, Heath Bowman. Lexi is soon talked into helping Ashley honor their late mother’s final wish to make amends with people she’d wronged and to pay back people she'd owed, despite her own resentment toward her mother. As the days and weeks go by, can Lexi learn to love and trust again? And to forgive her mother? A heartwarming story full of quirky characters, told with humor and wisdom, Jill Shalvis specialties!

Sunrise Cove is one of my favorite series. I love how Shalvis blends her love stories with family stories and how everything works out so seamless.

In the Love Fix we have Lexi who is returning to Sunrise Cove a year after her mother died to fulfill the terms of her mother’s will with her step sister Ash. This is the true heart of the story. As they deliver these envelopes they begin to work through their relationship and it’s everything you want it to be.

I adored the romance between Lexi and Heath. They are childhood enemies of sorts and they and up coming together after lots of banter and exchanges and some arguments.

Highly recommend this delightful summer read.

Jill Shalvis has been one of my all time favorite authors, she was the one who introduced me to rom-coms. I have devour all of her books and this one was no different. The Love Fix, the eighth installment of her Sunrise Cove series is a feel-good, heartwarming enemies-to-lovers romance is infused with themes of healing, forgiveness, and found family that will leave readers swooning and smiling. Lexi and Heath’s journey is equal parts tender and steamy, built on witty banter, slow-burn chemistry, and genuine emotional growth. Their evolving connection feels authentic, especially as Heath continually respects Lexi’s boundaries and wins her over with patience and charm. The sisterly bond between Lexi and Ash is another highlight—layered, imperfect, and ultimately full of love. Their reconnection adds depth to the narrative, balancing the romance with meaningful familial healing. Throw in some soul-searching road trip vibes, and this becomes the kind of story that feels like a warm hug. With endearing characters, heartfelt moments, and Jill Shalvis’s signature blend of humor and heart, The Love Fix is a must-read for fans of small-town romance done right. Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this before the release date.
