I enjoyed this book and how it incorporated adventure, hometown, self-exploration, forgiveness, and romance. I've never read her other books in the series but I plan to now. I recommend this book to Emily Henry or Abby Jimenez fans and anyone looking for an overall heartwarming book. Thank you, Avon and Harper Voyager, for the advanced copy of The Love Fix by Jill Shalvis on NetGalley in exchange for my honest review!

I stayed up way too late to finish reading this, absolutely sucked into this book's orbit. It tackled some pretty hard topics, while keeping me smiling and laughing from beginning to end. We see that life truly isn't black and white but rather shades of gray, and sometimes a person who is the villain in your story is the hero in someone else's. This was messy and complicated in the best way. The story was so oddly satisfying to follow along with, but there were also little bits throughout that just made this so heartwarming and fun to read. The dog humor. The mom humor. The meddling family members. It was such a nice balance of funny and emotional. Thanks Netgalley for the e-ARC!

The Love Fix by Jill Shalvis is an emotional story about family, forgiveness, and personal growth. The novel follows Lexi and her stepsister, Ashley, as they fulfill their late mother’s final wishes, confronting past wounds along the way.

Lexi is a complex character with a difficult past, which makes her journey compelling, though her negativity at times may make it hard for some readers to connect with her. In contrast, hunky Heath is patient and supportive while dealing with childhood baggage of his own. While their romance lacks strong tension, it adds warmth to the story. The book’s themes of healing and redemption are engaging, though some aspects, such as the mother’s arc and Ashley’s struggles, could have been explored more deeply.

Overall, The Love Fix is a thoughtful read with some emotional depth. I would recommend it to fans of character-driven stories about family dynamics and redemption.

Thank you to Jill Shavis and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Another must read book from Jill Shalvis.
Lexi returns home to help her sister clean out their her mother’s house after their mother passed away. Lexi and her mother were estranged. Her child hood home is the last place she wants to be.
Their mother requires the sisters to deliver several letters to her friends she wants to right some wrongs.

Along with reconciling with her sister, Lexi also reconnects with her high school crush Heath. They both realize they have feeling for each other.
Can Lexi get over the pain and heartbreak of her mother and come back to her hometown to stay with Heath and have a happily ever after. Or will she do what she does best and leave and go back to her old job?

On the surface this is a cute story of family and love and second chances. But, the characters, Lexi, Ashley, and Heath especially, are a depth of emotion that the author slowly reveals throughout the story. The slow and stead character development make it a much deeper and emotional story that touches on many topics. The characters are not perfect, in fact it is their flaws that make them real and relatable.
Loved the book, and recommend to all.

Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC! This was a sweet and enjoyable read. I found Lexi to be a complex character with a lot of emotional baggage, and I appreciated how the story gradually revealed more about her and her relationship with her mother. That said, Lexi did annoy me at times—she felt overly negative, though I understand that stemmed from her tough upbringing. Her resentment toward her stepsister and her lack of awareness about what was happening in Heath’s family made her feel a bit closed off.

My favorite character was Heath—he was incredibly patient and understanding, which made him such a great love interest. I do wish the book had explored the sister’s struggles with depression more deeply, as well as her connection with Lexi. There was potential for a richer dynamic there that wasn’t fully developed.

The redemption arc for Lexi’s mom didn’t really work for me. She was still a terrible mother to Lexi, and whatever kindness she showed to others didn’t change that. The book, at its core, is about relationships and how they shape you, which I really appreciated.

Overall, I enjoyed the story, even if certain aspects didn’t fully land for me.

Reluctantly returning home to Sunrise Cove for a brief visit to help her stepsister, Ashley, fulfill the last request of their deceased mother, Daisy, Lexi plans to make it an extremely quick visit. Fulfill the final request stated in Daisy’s will and be gone. Only it doesn’t work out that way. It appears she’ll have to stay longer whether she wants to or not, and she’ll have to work closely with Ashley and Heath. Through Ashley and Heath and several individuals they meet while fulfilling Daisy’s last request, Lexi learns more about her estranged mother. And as the three spend more time together, they grow closer. Lexi also starts to let down the walls she’s built around her heart.

An awesome story with witty bantering, laugh-out-loud humor, interesting characters, healing, forgiveness, new beginnings, and a HEA. I loved this story!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Lexi Clark has come back to the fictional Lake Tahoe town of Sunrise Cove to help her stepsister, Ashley, settle their mother's estate. Lexi's experience growing up with her gambling addicted mother was a lot different than Ashley's experience. She married Ashley's dad, and eventually changed her ways, but it was too late for her relationship with Lexi. Ashley & Lexi are charged with carrying out their mother's apologies to people she wronged and/or owed money when she was alive, in order to get their inheritance. Since Lexi was wrongly fired from her job, she is free to go home and needs any inheritance coming her way. Unfortunately for Lexi, going home also means seeing Heath Bowman, the executor of her mother's estate, who she had a crush on years ago. Will Lexi be able to find, not just romantic love, but family love in Sunrise Cove? As usual, Jill Shalvis includes lots of heart and humor in her book. She is one of my must read authors. Thank you to NetGalley, Avon and Harper Voyager for an e-galley to review.

The Love Fix, by Jill Shalvis, was a quick easy read. This wasn’t Jill’s best story, but it was definitely worth reading.
What detracted from the book for me was one of the main characters. Lexi was unappealing. Did she have a troubled upbringing and does she harbor justified resentment, yes, but she always was a downer and not so nice to people that treated her well. Otherwise, I would recommend reading it. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to preview Love Fix!

Jill Shalvis is my auto read author for a hallmark-ish story with slight closed door spice. Jill Shalvis always provides a wonderful plot with lovable characters and a positive message. The love fix is no different. Lexi travels home after her career is over to meet with her step sister and fulfill her estranged mother’s last wishes. Lexi, her step sister and her school enemy, Heath undertake the adventure of making amends with her mother’s loved ones. This book contains found family, second chances and repaired relationships, all in sunrise cove. I laughed, I cried and fell in love with yet another Sunrise Cove family. HIGHLY recommend!

The Love Fix was another great addition to Sunrise Cove. The story focuses on a complicated stepsister relationship, even more complicated mother (who was passed) daughter relationship, and some love mixed in. The way the subplots come together are woven as Jill Shalvis always does in a delightful heartfelt way.

Quality, uplifting read from Jill Shalvis in the Sunrise Cove series. Lexi’s life is complicated. Even more so, when she returns home to help her sister fulfill their mother’s last wishes and reconnect with her childhood frenemy, who is now a grown smokeshow. The story speaks truth about the complexity of relationships and does justice to the power of resilience and vulnerability. Recommended read.

The Love Fix by Jill Shalvis is the 8th book in her Sunrise Cove series. Each book is written as a stand-alone. A year after Daisy dies she wants her daughters Lexi and Ashley to hand deliver 6 envelopes to people to make things right and say goodbye. She was a terrible mom to Lexi and gambled but finally made her life right. Lexi Clark’s life is in shambles so she reluctantly returns to Sunrise Cove. Waiting for her is her step sister Ashley and her nemesis Heath Bowman. Lexi has a lot to overcome, feeling forgotten, abandoned and no one ever having her back. This book is full of Forgiveness, Family, second chances, and learning to cope with what we can’t change. So curl up with this great book and lose yourself in this story. Thank you to the author, # NetGalley, and # Avon & Harper Voyager for the arc book. This is my honest review.

The Love Fix follows Lexi who has been called home by her step sister Ashley to fulfill their mother’s last wish. The two have to work together to deliver 6 envelopes to people whom their mother had wronged in the past.

I really wanted to like this one so I’ll start with the things I liked. I really appreciated the healing journey that Lexi and Ashley and thought that it was well done. I could understand why Lexi was jealous of the relationship that Ashley and their mother had. Lexi only knew walls and broken promises, something I could relate to.

However, for as much as I could relate to that part of Lexi, that’s pretty much where it ends. I thought Lexi was stuck in a perpetual cycle of self-pity which was hard to relate to. I also thought there would be more of a road trip aspect to this book, but it is a very minor portion of the story. I also felt 0 tension between Lexi and Heath. They were barely enemies and their initial problems could have easily been fixed with a little communication.

I think I would have appreciated this book if I had read the other books in the “series”, though definitely not required to read this one. People who like the other books in this series will probably enjoy this one.

Thank you to the publisher for allowing me the opportunity to read this book prior to publishing! There is something about enemies to lovers and slow burn romances that gets me excited to read a romance with funny moments and great character growth. Jill Shalvis is becoming an author I am looking forward to reading more and more!

The Love Fix is a cozy, heartfelt romance with all the feels. Lexi Clark returns to Sunrise Cove to honor her estranged mother's dying wish: delivering six apology letters alongside her stepsister, Ashley. Enter Heath Bowman, Lexi's childhood nemesis-turned-crush, who volunteers to help, sparking all kinds of tension and growth.
Tropes I loved:
- Enemies-to-Friends-to-Lovers
- Small Town Drama
- Family Healing
- Second Chances
Shalvis nails the humor and emotional depth, with Lexi's growth and her dynamic with Heath as the highlights. The pacing faltered a bit, with some slow spots and an ending that wrapped up too quickly (where's my epilogue?). But overall, it's a heartfelt story about forgiveness and finding love where you least expect it.
Rating: 4/5 stars
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC!

This is my first book of Jill Shalvis that I’ve read and I was really excited as she has so many with decent reviews. With this being “Sunrise Cove #8” I wanted to make sure whether I had to read the other 7 in the series first. I found out that you can read Jill Shalvis's books in any order because they are written as stand-alones. However, if you like reading series you can read them in order and enjoy cameos from characters in other books.

I really was looking forward to this book. I love a good cozy romance with huge character growth and challenging family dynamics. However, I hate to say it but I just barely finished this book (even though I started the New Year vowing that I wouldn’t force myself to power through and finish a book that I felt was a lost cause just because I felt guilty). It was alarming to myself given how promising the author’s star ratings are for other books.
There were too many confusing, inconsistent, irrelevant details for my liking.

For starters: the relationships between some characters wasn’t clear right away. I’m actually still not entirely sure even after going back and re-reading for clarity. Personally, I didn’t think this was a book where I would have to highlight details and reference back complex information in order to keep up with the storyline (like when I dive into world-building books I am 100% prepared to have to do that. Cozy romance? Not so much).

The timeline/history is also unclear for several reasons. I am also surprised at finding out what some of the main reasoning are for why Lexi is the way she is. It all seems a bit melodramatic.

This is also apparently a nemesis-turned-crush but other than some teasing in elementary school, I’m not really sure where their tension comes from? Why did they despise each other in school other than they were both competitive and that’s what boys and girls do sometimes when they like each other? And then there’s the additional, frustrating miscommunication trope.

Next, with the inconsistency of details. There were a handful of times where details in the same scene contradicted each other. For example; a character is wearing a specific outfit and the next minute it’s detailed that her outfit she’s changing out of is completely different.

Lastly, the spice and sex scenes were absolutely lacking and weak. There was so much potential there too.

I know I read an unedited version but I felt this was a tad all over the place, amateur, and poorly written.

Thank you NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for an electronic ARC in exchange for an honest review.
