Jill Shalvis’s *The Love Fix* is a heartwarming and irresistibly charming romance that expertly blends humor, emotion, and the messy, beautiful complexities of life and love. With her signature wit and warmth, Shalvis crafts a story about second chances, personal growth, and finding the courage to trust in love again. It’s an engaging read that will have you laughing, crying, and cheering for its wonderfully relatable characters.

At the center of the story is Maisie, a smart and fiercely independent woman who’s always relied on herself. But when a series of missteps leads her back to her hometown, she’s forced to confront her past and the walls she’s built around her heart. Enter Sam, the charming, frustrating, and undeniably swoon-worthy ex who’s determined to repair what was broken between them. Their dynamic is filled with witty banter, unresolved tension, and moments of genuine vulnerability that make their love story as authentic as it is captivating.

Shalvis has a knack for creating characters that feel like real people, with flaws, quirks, and emotional depth that draw you in. Maisie’s journey of self-discovery is as compelling as the romance itself, and Sam’s patience and charm make him the perfect counterbalance to her guarded heart. Their chemistry leaps off the page, and Shalvis expertly navigates their emotional baggage to create a relationship that feels earned and deeply satisfying.

What sets *The Love Fix* apart is its ability to balance humor with heartfelt moments. Shalvis’s sharp dialogue and comedic timing infuse the story with energy, while the quieter, more emotional scenes give it depth. The supporting cast, from meddling family members to quirky friends, adds an extra layer of charm and helps flesh out the vibrant world of the novel.

The pacing is spot-on, keeping the story engaging from start to finish. Shalvis masterfully weaves together the characters’ emotional arcs, creating a narrative that feels cohesive and rewarding. The small-town setting is brought to life with vivid detail, adding a cozy, inviting backdrop to the characters’ journey.

*The Love Fix* is a delightful and uplifting novel that will resonate with anyone who’s ever faced the challenge of letting go of the past to embrace a brighter future. Jill Shalvis delivers another winner with her trademark blend of humor, heart, and sizzling romance. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to her work, this book is a must-read for anyone who loves stories about second chances and the transformative power of love. A five-star gem, *The Love Fix* will leave you smiling and ready to believe in the magic of fixing what’s worth saving.

📚The Love Fix by Jill Shalvis 🛣️❤️

I wanted to love The Love Fix, but it just didn’t hit the mark for me. 🫤 The setup had all the makings of a heartwarming story—road trip antics, an enemies to lovers romance, and themes of found family and forgiveness. But despite the potential, the execution fell flat.

Lexi’s journey of confronting her past and her complicated feelings for Heath felt predictable, and the emotional beats didn’t land as deeply as they should have. The romance lacked chemistry, and while the road trip shenanigans tried to inject some fun, they weren’t enough to save the story. 😕

If you’re a die hard Jill Shalvis fan, you might enjoy revisiting Sunrise Cove, but this one didn’t quite deliver for me. 3⭐️

Thank you to NetGalley, Jill Shalvis, and Avon for the eARC of this book.

Lexi returns home after her mother's death to deal with things from her past. This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.

Lexi Clark’s life is a mess. Jobless, she returns home at her stepsister’s behest. Sunrise Cove holds too many painful memories for Lexi. She grudgingly agrees to honor her mother’s final wish – to make amends to the people she had wronged. The endeavor allows Lexi to see her mother in a different way. She also forges bonds with her stepsister and her childhood nemesis-turned-crush. Can Lexi finally let go of her past resentment? Will Sunrise Cove offer what she truly needs?
Heath Bowman spends his time, and energy, taking care of his grandfather and others. Lexi’s return to Sunrise Cove sends him into a quandary. He manages to convince Lexi to complete her mother’s last wish. Heath finds himself volunteering to accompany her along the journey. He cannot ignore the chemistry brewing between them, but he is hesitant to start something. Will Heath and Lexi’s trust issues stand in their way? Can he let Lexi go once she finishes her task?
Heath and Lexi’s background broke my heart. Both were hurt by a parental figure but in different ways. I understand why Heath and Lexi both keep people at arm’s length. They have been hurt too many times by the few individuals they let in. Since they have so much in common, they understand each other.
What I adore the most about Lexi is how she does not need Heath to fix her problems. She rather meets her challenges and problems on her own terms. I like how Heath never once tried to push Lexi to forgive her mother. Yeah, it often puts him in a difficult position.
THE LOVE FIX is the eighth book in Jill Shalvis’ contemporary romance, women’s fiction series, SUNRISE COVE. Each book in this series can stand alone because each story has a new cast of characters. There is no on-going or carried-over plot.
Jill Shalvis never disappoints me. I know to anticipate humor to lighten up the tough subject matters she touches on in each book. She also includes a quirky pet that warms my heart whenever I read her stories.
Gus, Heath’s cankerous grandfather, is my favorite character. His antics made me giggle. He made the book so dang enjoyable!

"You didn’t know,” Heath said. Looking distraught, she shook her head. “She’s so . . . cheerful all the time. I guess it’s an act.” “It’s not. She says she’s processing things just fine, but that it takes far less energy to be positive than negative."

This book is deep. It made me misty eyed. Lexi is back in her hometown to settle her mom's will and wishes, along with her childhood friend Heath, and her sister Ashley.

Her mom had written notes to people she had wronged and they are to deliver them. Along the way, they discover who the mom was as a person, and how much they need each other now.

Great fade to black romance!

review and rating N/A, I will not be reading or reviewing as it was not clear this was #7 in a series! Writing this as I do not feel that discrepancy should penalize my netgalley page

The Love Fix was the perfect fix for a snowy afternoon. Sunrise Cove set the scene for Lexi and Heath's love story. Returning to the Cove to settle her mom's estate, the idyllic setting is filled with troublesome memories. Making waves is Lexi's feelings about Heath as while it's a handsome exterior, their competitive nature requires treading water.

Required to stay in Sunrise Cove as part of her mother's will, Lexi grapples with her past while struggling to forge a path for herself. Will she be brave enough to tether herself to the place that provided rocky shores? Thank you to #NetGalley and the publisher for the early edition of #TheLoveFix in exchange for an honest review. I'm a fan of the author's work as each story pens a feeling of returning home and to characters who warmly greet your arrival.

Definitely a winner. A story of second chances and facing a past that is nearly impossible to forgive. Lexi's relationship with Ashley has always been difficult because of her estrangement with her mother. She has to struggle with facing her bitterness and guilt around her mother to finally forge a better relationship with Ashley. She also needs to unburden herself of the secrets from that past to find anyway free from all her resentments and struggles. I liked Ashley and that she pushed Lexi to let her in. It was her constant faith in Lexi's love for her that allowed Lexi to finally reveal the truth of how hard her life's really been.

Her past with Heath and his relationship with her mom Daisy keeps her walls up with him. However she can't help the attraction she's always had to him. Heath is just as wounded from his abusive father. Once they both reconcile what keeps them apart, they finally push to open up a path to be together.

I loved that Heath let Lexi call most of the shots in their romance. Unfortunately I think that really could've made the outcome much worse by setting an example of being a bit of a pushover. Thankfully Lexi saw it for what it was and demanded he let her love him as much as he loved her.

I can’t believe this series is up to number eight! I’ve read and enjoyed most and like the author. It can easily be read on it’s own. The themes always have family, friends or frenemies with a touch of drama, romance and heartfelt emotional quandaries. The richly developed characters have the author’s signature wit, humor and sarcasm flowing throughout their interactions. A bonus for me is the setting the area of Lake Tahoe, a place I’ve long wished to explore. Lexi is returning to her mother’s home to wrap up lingering loose ends after her death. Her stepsister, Ashley, is nothing like Lexi and longs for them to be closer, emotionally and physically. Lexi has just become unemployed, is bitter, resentful, emotionally walled off and just fine being alone. The mother left the girls letters and instructions for settling old debts. A neighboring close friend of the mother turns out to be a competitive, appealing man from Lexi’s past. Heath’s as guarded with emotions as Lexi, with just as many demons in his past. He is there to help deliver the letters and assure their safety. The ensuing road trips to carry out these wishes reveal a mother Lexi never knew. Their journeys were filled with surprises, revelations and experiences none of them could have expected or prepared for. I enjoyed each new letter and the resulting outcomes. I didn’t immediately relate to all the pent up resentment or other traits Lexi was burdened by. I was much more drawn to Ashley with her bubbly, positive attitude. Heath had his own set of issues along with the patience of a saint. Another heartfelt story with meaningful life lessons.

I always love a good enemies to lovers romcom and this one was just what I needed. I have loved Lexi and Heath for quite some time and enjoyed seeing their increased banter in The Love Fix!

I've only read a couple of Jill Shalvis books, but they seem to be reliably entertaining, if not groundbreaking, and this is no exception. The story proceeds in a workmanlike fashion, although I could have done without the odd interlude where the main character, against all the good sense she has previously exhibited, confronts a gangster. Enjoyable, pleasant, and sometimes that's just what you want.

The Love Fix by Jill Shalvis aims to deliver a heartfelt story, but it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. While there were some funny and touching moments, I struggled with how the characters treated Lexi. It often felt like her pain was dismissed too easily, making it hard to connect with the story on an emotional level.
The pacing was fine, but the plot felt predictable, and many conflicts resolved far too neatly to feel realistic. This took away some of the stakes, leaving the story feeling somewhat superficial despite its emotional themes

The Love Fix by Jill Shalvis is a slow-burn light-hearted romance with some great funny moments and enjoyable side characters. The story follows Lexi who is struggling after losing her job and is now having to navigate her feelings associated with the loss of her mother. When she returns to her childhood home she has to work with her sister Ashely and childhood nemesis Heath to honor her late mother's last wishes.

I felt the pacing of the story was good, there was an intriguing storyline and things that were being revealed to us as the story was being told. We got to see the growth of the characters as they worked through their issues. The chemistry between Lexi and Heath was fun to read as they had great banter. Grandpa Gus was probably my favorite side character, he had me cracking up a few times.

There was a little romance in the book, but it was mostly closed-door.

Lexi is in Sunrise Cove and whether it she wants to be there or not she has unfinished business. Unfinished business with Daisy, her sister and the attractive next door neighbor that she can't seem to get away from fast enough.

I really enjoyed the pacing of this book, I thought the development of the three main characters was perfect. They all had their real life problems that seemed to be dealt with in very real life ways. I really appreciated the sarcastic and funny one liners throughout the books. I also really enjoyed the strong female leads intertwined with damsel in distress moments as well. Far too often stories have female leads depend on male leads whereas in this story the male lead was used for support.

Loved this read, loved the setting and descriptions of Lake Tahoe while I'm looking out in the gloomy Midwest.

Thank you NetGalley for this digital ARC!

Coming home to face the hurts from her past finds Lexi face to face with the demons she never thought she would overcome. Throw in her flighty sister Ashley and her arch nemesis Heath and you have a story filled with redemption, understanding and in the end love. A great addition to the series.

Lexi is back in Sunrise Cove a year after her mother’s death at the request of her younger stepsister. Lexi and Ashley have a strained relationship, mostly due to the fact that they experienced very different Daisy’s. With Lexi back in Sunrise Cove Ashley is able to uncover a lot about why Lexi has avoided her hometown like the plague. On top of being back home there’s also the issue of Heath, Lexi’s childhood frenemie who she’s secretly crushed on forever. Now he’s living next door to her for 6 weeks and ignoring their sparks seems impossible. But Lexi has a life back east. Will 6 weeks in Sunrise Cove be enough to convince her to stay? Or will Lexi get the hell out of dodge as soon as her time is up?

Jill has a knack for writing cozy romances. This book along with her others feels like coming home. There’s always such a strong family connection on top of the romance which I love. Heath and Lexi’s inability to communicate did frustrate me, but their back stories did justify it. If you like romances with family drama, childhood wounds, and cozy small-town vibes this one’s for you!

Thanks netgalley and the publisher for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Love Fix by Jill Shalvis. Slower paced romance and family relationship story. A good edition to the Sunrise Cove series but not a favorite.
Thank you to the author, Avon and Harper Voyager and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book.

Thank you NetGalley, for the an advance copy of this book! I wish I loved it but….it was T E R R I B L E. The intrigue the author is trying to make wiht the sister squad and the brothers doesn’t hit for me - I’ve never met a guy that emotionally aware and it seems very forced. Name a team of men that name their emotions and feelings openly at every turn, I’ll wait.

Lexi? She’s just a hot ass girl who feels sorry for herself because she was wrongfully fired from her job AND SLEEPING WITH HER SUPERVISOR OKAY? The “crackling air” that often occurs between heath and Lexi is far from steamy and electric. Also..there are a lot of characters.

PROS:
the author definitely kept the plot tight and there weren’t TOO many twists.
It was short.

CONS:
It wasn’t good.

Sorry, Jill. I wanted to like it, I swear.
