Austin has moved across the country to go to a new high school to be with a high school soccer coach that has played professionally. He’s having a hard time fitting in with the new team because he’s upset the star player, who is also the coach’s son.

Claire is healing from a career ending injury in figure skating. She’s getting a lot of pressure from her mom, and has no idea what she’s going to do now that she can’t figure skate anymore. She meets Austin, and has to try and deny her feelings because he plays with her ex, the star soccer player.

I really liked how Austin had the idea to introduce Claire to different activities to help her find a new passion. She ends up finding it on her own, and I really liked that. Everything ends really well. It was a good YA book.

Rebecca Jenshak has done new adult and adult contemporary romances before--and I enjoyed them all--but now, she's venturing into young adult territory, and well, I'm happy to report that she did not disappoint! Her new series is Frost Lake High, and the first book is Stealing for Keeps, a story that involves the newest player on the soccer team, the ex-girlfriend of the team captain, and one dream he's chasing and another that has ended and left her adrift. Set in the fictional town of Frost Lake, Michigan, readers are introduced to Claire Crawford and Austin Keller, both seventeen and juniors of the local high school. Claire spent all summer recuperating from an injury that ended any hope of her pursuing a figure skating career. Add to that the fact that Vaughn Collins decided to break up with her because he couldn't be a boyfriend AND be an athlete. All Claire wants to do is get through the school year and figure out what comes next, but then Austin came along, stealing a kiss because of a teammate's dare during a bonfire. She thinks he wants to be with her, but when push comes to shove, will the new star player choose her when the team captain himself didn't? Can Austin really make a play to steal Claire for keeps?

I haven't read young adult romance in a while, but Stealing for Keeps made me reminisce about all those years when the only genre on my bookshelf and in my hands was YA. Rebecca Jenshak delivers a heartfelt story about two teenagers who are experiencing changes in their respective lives and find love and friendship with each other when they weren't expecting it. Of course, falling in love and living happily ever after isn't as easy as it may sound, especially when Claire used to be the girlfriend of Austin's team captain. There's a bit of family drama as well, courtesy of Claire's relationship with her mother and Austin's antagonistic younger sister who hates the fact that the family moved from Arizona to Michigan for Austin. But that's balanced out with the lighter feel that's brought by Claire's and Austin's friends. These teens, particularly, Claire's best friend, Lacey, and her ex, Vaughn, and Austin's closest teammate and friend, Rowan, and his sister, Torrance, have piqued my interest, and while I don't know if they will get books in the series or who's going to be paired with whom, fingers crossed that Lacey and Vaughn will be coupled up. Long story short, I loved this series starter and can't wait for more. Five stars!

The author writes this story at an age-appropriate level, which brought me back to my awkward, anxiety-filled high school days. The author created a genuine and authentic high school story that captured how many times we stumble trying to find our feet, navigating home, school, and relationships in our teen years.

Claire's world is rocked after her life plans are derailed, leaving her flailing to figure out where she sees herself in the future as she begins her junior year of high school. Austin has moved to a new school to play for his dream coach and starts the season off on the wrong foot after he meets Claire and crushes fast.

I loved reading this story, and it would be very fitting for a high school teen or anyone who feels nostalgic for a trip to the past.

This is Book 1 in the Frost Lake High Series by this author. It is a heartfelt, young adult romance between new soccer star Austin and once aspiring figure skater Claire. These likeable souls and the unique plot make for an enjoyable read. It is a sweet love story with drama and steam, sexual tension and chemistry, and engaging secondary characters. An entertaining sports romance.

Rebecca Jenshak’s Stealing for Keeps is everything I hoped for and more as the first book in the Frost Lake High series. This YA sports romance is sweet, heartfelt, and completely swoony, making it an unforgettable read that perfectly captures the highs and lows of high school love.

Claire, a talented figure skater, and Austin, a dedicated soccer player, share a connection that is as tender as it is intense. Their forbidden romance (Claire is Austin’s rival's ex-girlfriend) and secret relationship kept me hooked from beginning to end. Jenshak balances the tension of their circumstances with moments of pure sweetness, and their story feels so real that it brought me right back to my own high school years.

What makes this book shine is not just the romance but the depth of all the characters. Each one feels vibrant and authentic, and I found myself rooting for everyone in their own way. Rebecca Jenshak has a gift for making her characters come alive, and it’s impossible not to fall in love with them.

This was my first taste of Jenshak’s YA writing, and she nailed it. Her transition to this genre is seamless, and Stealing for Keeps has only solidified her spot as one of my favorite authors this year. I’m already looking forward to the second book in the Frost Lake High series—I just know it’s going to be amazing!

This was not for me

"Stealing for Keeps" is the first book in the „Frost Lake High“ by Rebecca Jenshak and tells the story of Claire and Austin.

Well. This book was unfortunately not for me. I had the feeling that the book was written for a much younger audience than me.

The characters are quite likeable, but they just lack depth, as I found both Claire and Austin superficially written. Claire's retirement from skating due to injury provided many opportunities to add some depth to the story. However, the high school teen drama overshadows the story.

The conflicts felt like typical high school issues—unfortunately, somewhat unnecessary. Although the basic idea is very interesting, I was unfortunately not impressed by the execution.

Thank You to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC.

I AM OBSESSED!!!

This book was everything!! If Rebecca writes it, just know I’m going to read it. I genuinely couldn’t put it down and begged all my friends to read it. It is that good!!

This book follows Austin and Claire during their junior year of high school. However, they meet in the most unconventional ways… their first encounter ends up with him covered in glitter… and the next is him getting dared to ask her for a kiss. The downside is he’s new to the school and on the soccer team, and she’s the soccer captain’s ex-girlfriend. You might be wondering, what could go wrong, right??? Well, a lot, but this also might be the best thing ever happening to them!?
(Spoiler alert: it is)

This book was everything I needed, and I cannot wait to reread it. I absolutely adore Austin and Claire, and their story is officially one of my favorites. I loved how authentic they both were, and getting to watch them grow as characters. Both of them were dealing with different things in the book, but seeing them lean on one another was so cute. The way they cared for one another had my heart melting. Although, I can’t forget the banter, flirting, and chemistry… it literally had me kicking my feet the entire time.

Overall, I love this book! It’s so fun and the perfect read—you will fly through it!

4.5 STARS!
I double dare you to not smile whilst reading this book. I guarantee you will fail!
This book is sass, flirtatiousness, fun and games, and banter, all wrapped up in feel-good moments and sweet interactions between its MCs. The loyal friendships, the constant gossip mill, and the cute little crushes within this high school setting not only effortlessly transported me into Frost Lake High, but took me back to the angst, the dramatics, and the oh so cringe-fest that goes hand in hand with being a high-schooler. Ahh. Good times, good times.
This is a YA contemporary romance I can absolutely get behind. The premise teases without giving away the entire storyline, and once you start reading, you quickly realise it’s in-depth, full of life, and a relatability with what the characters are going through no matter if you’re beyond your teen years. The plot is well thought-out that was executed amazingly by the writing.
This book has the perfect amount of romantic elements that, in my opinion, is very age appropriate for its targeted YA audience. I’m not even of the age bracket and I adored the youthful romance exhibited in this book. It was giddy-inducing. Claire’s and Austin’s excitement and blissed out feels was infectious! Their budding relationship was a slow-burn that I ended up excited to see build up.
Whilst it’s an overall light-hearted story, it touches on real-life situations and relatable emotions that I easily connected and/or sympathised with. With how lovable— not just the MCs, but their entire friend group is, it wasn’t hard to connect with each and every one of these people and be interested in learning about their lives too.
It’s a page-turning first book in the Frost Lake High series. It not only introduces a mixed cast of personalities I’m eager to see again, but it kicks off an eye-catching world of academia, sports, parties, and all the angsty teen drama in-between.
The writing is easy to digest, with well-paced developments, and although it’s a younger setting in comparison to Jenshak’s usual NA and Adult contemporary sports romances, the vibe is still very similar to her other books. It’s told from dual POVs, so you’re getting to know both MCs personal lives, familial dynamics, and their perspectives on certain relationships and situations.
The friendships are easily one of my favourite things about this book. They provide both timely and surprising comic-relief throughout. They’re also amazing sounding boards and support systems at a time when either or both MCs were in need of advice, a bit of a pep talk, or just a good old-fashion cheering up. I love seeing fictional friends who have each other’s back, and this one had it in spades. The friendships are genuine, with a believable history displaying the longevity.
It’s hard to find fault. I enjoyed it thoroughly. It’s such a vivid story that I easily pictured in my mind, and would truly be ideal for film or tv adaptation. The characters are lively, and the narrative is fun yet equally heartfelt. This book is comforting and I can’t wait to read more from this series.

Stealing for keeps is the first book in the Frost Lake High series. It is a high school, soccer, secret relationship story full of sizzling chemistry, all the feels, humor and rivalry. It's a cute, fun read about discovering oneself and dealing with forbidden love. This was an enjoyable read and I can't wait for more in this series.

3 ⭐ 1 🌶️

I want to preface this by saying I adore Rebecca Jenshak and her adult novels. I picked this one up because of my love for her stories. However, this one just wasn't for me... It's very much a young adult story that takes place in high school with high school problems causing the conflict. They were surprisingly mature, but I still just couldn't get into the Hugh school drama that fed the story.

The characters were so sweet and I did love the overall storyline. I actually got most of my enjoyment from Austin and Vaughn's storyline to be honest. Their character arcs were really well done and I loved the growth with both of them.

All in all I'd highly recommend this one to young adults and even older teens, but it just wasn't for me.

I absolutely loved Stealing for Keeps by Rebecca Jenshak! This book had everything I look for in a romance—great chemistry, engaging characters, and just the right mix of swoon-worthy moments and emotional depth. From the very first page, I was hooked by the dynamic between the main characters, and their journey kept me turning pages late into the night.

Rebecca Jenshak does a fantastic job of blending humor, heart, and heat, making the story feel both fun and deeply emotional. The romance was perfectly paced, with plenty of tension and build-up that made every moment between the characters even more satisfying. Their connection felt real, and I loved how their relationship developed naturally throughout the book.

The writing was engaging, the dialogue was sharp, and the story had just the right amount of drama without ever feeling overdone. Whether you’re already a fan of Rebecca Jenshak or discovering her for the first time, Stealing for Keeps is a must-read for anyone who loves a well-written romance with lovable characters and a storyline that keeps you invested until the very end. Highly recommend!

This is a very feel good, sweet YA romance book. In the story we follow Austin and Claire.

Austin, he came all the way from Arizona to Frost Lake to fulfill his dream of becoming a professional soccer player. Claire, on the other hand feeling lost after breaking her leg and his skating dream. When these two meet they feel a pull towards each other. But Claire is the ex-girlfriend of Austin's teammate and his team captain.

This sound so complicated and complex but trust me the story is so sweet. I love how the author shows the relationship build up between the protagonist. Yes, it's kind of slow, but I love reading the slow progress, the family dynamics, the friendships. I also love when both the protagonists try to seperate themselves to sort out each of their feelings. Somehow I absolutely agree with the "third act breakup" in the book, even though I'm not a fond of that.

Overall the book is good, and if you are trying to find some feel good, heartwarming, YA sports romance, then you should pick it up. And I'm also very much excited for Rowan and Vaughan more.

Omg. This book was SOOOOO sweet!!!! This book has big Better Than the Movies vibes which I LOVED!! Oh and I read it in 2 days.

I’m pretty sure this was my first soccer romance, and it didn’t disappoint!! If you enjoy YA romances, this is one you DO NOT want to miss!!

From their *sparkly* meet cute, Austin and Claire have a connection that, as much as they try, they can’t ignore. Their only hiccup? Claire’s ex-boyfriend who also happens to be the captain of the soccer team Auston just joined.

This book will totally take you back to your truth-or-dare days, getting ready for dances where you hope the boy you’re crushing on asks you to dance. It’s sweet, swoony, sparkly, and soccer-y! (It’s an S word…just go with it.)

Just read it. Trust me 😉🥰

It has been a minute since I read a YA high school romance. I was raised on high school dramas. This was a reminder of how much I still love them. There is something so wholesome about young love. I know, it's so cliche. I was initially weary of signing up to ARC read this book. I am glad I didn’t sleep on it. Rebecca’s writing is always incredible.

Austin is the new kid in town, and after being dared to kiss a pretty girl at a party, he quickly finds himself in the not-so-good graces of the soccer team captain. That pretty girl is Claire, and she just so happens to be the captain’s ex. Oh, the drama. I loved it.

The beautiful part of this story is Claire and Austin’s friendship. Claire has difficulty dealing with an injury that puts her out of competitive figure skating. She misses skating and feeling like she has something to work towards. Austin makes it his mission to help her find another hobby. I love this plotline. It is endearing.

This book is available on KU. If you are like me and enjoy YA books and young love, you should check out this one.

This is the first book by Rebecca Jenshak that I’ve read, but it definitely won’t be the last, because I fell in love with it.

I really liked the writing style, it clicked with me right away.

The characters completely charmed me, and I enjoyed both the main and supporting ones. I liked that Vaughn didn’t stay a jerk till the end but turned out to be a really decent and nice character, someone whose story we’d want to see. I also really liked Lacey; I think she’s a great friend. I enjoyed Rowan’s character too, as he’s the perfect mix of fun and seriousness. I’m not sure who the next couple in this series will be, but I’d love to see Lacey either with Vaughn (that would be a good enemies-to-lovers) or with Rowan (I imagined her with him most of the book).

I adore Austin, he’s one of the most wonderful male characters I’ve read this year. But that’s not so surprising, as I tend to fall for male characters easily. What is surprising, though, is that Claire became one of my favorite female characters, which rarely happens. The only person who annoyed me was her mom, and I’m glad she softened up a bit in the end.

The chemistry between Austin and Claire was palpable, you could feel it from the first page.

All in all, if you’re looking for a super sweet high school football romance, this is definitely the book for you. Highly recommend!

This book is a sweet, cute, innocent book about high school romance. Austin moves across the country to play soccer for a retired professional soccer player in high school because his dream is to play professionally. The family picks up and moves to make this dream happen, but not all are happy. His sister is upset the most by it, which what teenage girl wouldn't be. Claire is struggling after an injury. She was a competitive figure skater who had a career ending injury. On top of that, her boyfriend, of 2 years, broke up with her to focus on soccer. She is feeling lost and doesn't know what to do with her life.

The meet cute for Claire and Austin was adorable. She got glitter all over him on his way to his first soccer practice with his new team. Cue the fun nickname Disco for him. The story had high school drama, especially since Claire is the coach's sons ex who wants her back. They keep their relationship secret, so Austin doesn't get iced out on the team, but of course, everything comes out eventually.

Claire and Austin were so cute together. He was in my head an ideal high school boyfriend that you would have wanted. The story also had wonderful side characters that kept the storyline interesting.

This book doesn't have the normal amount of spice i read, but it was an easy read (finished it in one day) with really wonderful parts to it.

As a soccer player/fan, I am SO HAPPY to have more soccer romances! This was so fun to read and brought me back to my high school experiences. I thought that it represented high school drama and maturity well! It looks like there will be more in this series and I will 100% be reading them when they release! Thank you so much to the publisher and to NetGalley for the opportunity to read in exchange for a review!
