It was a magical read and one that brought adventure. From the cover, I was expecting something different from what I read. I think that cover was quite darker than the story.

The Changelings is a fun, magical adventure with a great main character and a cool world that pulled me in right away. The story moves fast, has heart, and touches on family and belonging in a really sweet way. A few parts felt a bit overdone, but overall it was a super solid read! Thank you, NetGalley!

I really liked this middle grade, fantasy read.
I enjoyed reading a story about changelings and world building was super cool. The idea of changelings having different abilities and powers was very intriguing.
It had a wonderful, brave protagonist. The characters that joined her on her adventure were delightful and I had an absolute ball reading this story.
I'm buying myself the paperback so my kids can read it as well.

It’s been 9 years since Christina Soontornvat’s popular book was first released. With a new cover, it’s perfectly packaged for a new group of readers.
The Changelings follows Izzy, a girl who has always believed in magical worlds, but never understands how completely different Faerie is until she finds herself there. Izzy is bright and inquisitive and driven by love of her family.
Soontornvat’s world-building skills are strong. Dropping readers into a world both familiar and foreign, the author leaves room for imagination to fill in the gaps.
The Changelings is full of mystery, adventure and magic. Readers will be happy to discover the second book, In a Dark Land, will be rereleased in October.

I received an electronic ARC from SOURCEBOOKS Kids through NetGalley.
Izzy has never felt she fit in. She is fascinated by fairy tales and folk legends and prefers to study those than engage with others. We meet her after her family has moved to a new country to live in her grandmother's house. When her sister disappears, she seeks help from the mysterious older woman next door and follow her to Faerie. This launches a series of adventures both alone and with new friends until they rescue Hen, themselves and defeat the evil queen.
Soontornvat brings the settings to life so readers feel they are moving through the villages and kingdoms engaging with a variety of creatures. The characters start a bit flat but slowly share more of themselves as they build to the climactic scene. By the end, Izzy has learned more about who she really is and where she thinks she belongs. It sets up the next book so readers will be eager to see how the story continues.
