I found this to be a really good read. This is the first thing that I have read by Susanna Lane, and I was not disappointed. I loved her writing style. I am a historical fiction fan, so this was right up my alley with the end of Civil War Era setting... and a man searching for his brother . I thought the characters and story were both well laid out and descriptive. I can't wait to read more from this author. I highly recommend this to the history/historical fiction readers.

Thank you Net Galley ARC, Hat Creek, and Susanna Lane

This is a new author for me. I’m happy to have found her! Her characters are so well written. A man who served in the Civil War is now searching for his younger brother. Will he like what he finds? The adventure and story is believable. I hope you read this story.

"Enduring Promise" by Susanna Lane is a captivating story that drew me in from the very first pages. The characters are richly developed and intriguing, while the historical setting immerses the reader in the vibrant world of the late 19th-century American West. Lane skillfully evokes the attitudes and cultural nuances of the time through her gripping scenes and the complexity of her characters.

The story follows Bryce Enders, a man who, after a heart-wrenching failed romance in Texas, has tried to build a new life in the unforgiving landscapes of Montana’s gold fields. The harshness of his surroundings mirrors his emotional state as he grapples with his past. Everything changes when a sensational newspaper headline reveals the wild escapades of his younger brother, Cort. Intrigued yet troubled, Bryce feels an undeniable pull to travel to Ogallala, Nebraska, where he is shocked to discover that Cort has not only married but is also thriving as the owner of a large cattle ranch. This revelation stirs a mix of emotions in Bryce, who has endured his own share of challenges, having served bravely in the Civil War, sought fortune through gold panning, worked as a train guard, and managed cattle on the rugged frontier.

On the other side of the story is Hannah, a woman caught in a web of her own making. She struggles with the conflict between her unwavering Christian values and the painful reality of her situation. Bound by sacred vows to a cruel husband, she is trapped in a life that may be leading to her own undoing, especially as her husband’s fate becomes uncertain. When Bryce intervenes and expresses his determination to free her from this oppressive situation, it heightens the tension between them, complicating Hannah’s internal battle with her faith and personal desires. Additionally, a dark secret from Bryce's past begins to resurface, adding layers of complexity to his motivations and actions.

As a devoted fan of historical westerns, I found "Enduring Promise" to be a thrilling read, brimming with action and emotional depth. Lane's narrative combines adventure with profound themes of love, sacrifice, and the struggle for freedom, making it a standout addition to the genre. The interplay between Bryce and Hannah, with their distinct yet intertwined journeys, creates a compelling tale that kept me engaged until the very last page.

Enduring Promise is the second book in the promises series by Susanna Lane, in the book we meet Bryce he rides in to Ogalla and asks the bartender if he knows any Enders. When the man says yes Bryce knows his long ride is over he has been looking for his Younger brother Court. When he finally reunite with his brother his long weary journey of heartbreak is an over not too long after arriving he meets the neighbor Hannah who he falls instantly in love with which is married to a jerk of a man who is MIA and has left her destitute trying to keep the little farm together. Then relatives of his first love arrive with his 12-year-old son Ray and Bryce doesn’t know what to do with this nor how to raise a child but intend on doing his best. The whole time begging Hannah to divorce her know good husband and marry him. When things couldn’t get any crazier a tornado happens then they learn the husband of his first lov Gabriellae and the reason he left Texas isn’t search of Reyes and the whole time Hannah is still clinging to the oath she took to a man she didn’t love nor wanted to be married to. Will Hannah‘s husband Lars ever come back or will she ever be rid of him so she could be with Bryce and will Bryce and his son Reyes have a cordial relationship at the very least? Let me just say I am a big fan and I mean a humongous fan of historical western romances and was so excited to get this one but this book has a lot going on. I mean for one thing Bryce it’s unlike any cowboy I’ve ever read in any romance book he reacted to problems like a petulant child not to mention this book pretty much played out like the first book that and I’m OK with knowing somethings going to happen but every chapter they hear a tornado then Gabriel‘s husband was around on his way to his brothers they almost hung him and I could go on and on not to mention when he went to the ribbon Catillia and said he was coming back with a wife and he came back and the whole family including the ranch hands were upset with him. Not to mention the big wedding dinner that lark and Teresa made for when he returned from the dance, even though they knew he wasn’t returning with a Bride. I’m going to be honest and say I stopped reading this book at 88% because when the final thing happened and Bryce once again threw a hissy fit I was out and was so done with this book. I find most Romance stories are basically wash rinse spin and repeat except for a few great reads but most of them are basically predictable but this one was not only predictable instead of letting you get to know the characters to extend the story it seems she kept putting one dramatic part after another whenever things would become OK there would be something else happening. I love historical westerns and read a lot of them I would’ve finish this one it’s not for the excessive need for anger tears and forgiveness over and over again it just got old. Not to mention these were the strangest cowboys I’ve run into in the western romance. I feel bad and as if I’m being too hard on this book but having read so many historical western romances I’ve come to expect Cowboys to be Cowboys and not act like drama queens. #NetGalley, #SusannaLane, #EnduringPromises,
