I truly enjoyed the twists and turns in this book, but I felt the heartbreak was a lot. She couldn’t catch a break. Definitely kept me interested.

This book had me hooked from the start! River is going through so much—grieving her dad, dealing with her mom’s disappearance, and feeling stuck in her small town. Then there’s Logan, the mysterious, hot diner regular who suddenly seems interested. Add in her ex, Noah, and things get complicated fast. But just when she starts thinking about love, shocking new info about the fire that killed her dad turns everything upside down.

I couldn’t stop reading because I had to know how it all connected. The mystery was definitely the best part—full of twists, tension, and that constant feeling that something wasn’t quite right. I also loved the dual POV and the letter interludes, which added so much depth to the story.

If I’m being honest, the romance felt a little too instant for me, but I was way more invested in the secrets surrounding the fire, her mom, and her family’s past anyway. And in the end, I loved how all the different pieces came together.

If you’re into books that mix romance with mystery and keep you guessing, this is definitely worth a read!

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book was exceptional. It is the second work I have read by Sloan Harlow, and I am truly captivated by her writing style. I find myself deeply engaged with her characters and their narratives, often taken by surprise by the numerous twists and turns throughout the story.

Wowza this book was a surprise! When you meet River, she’s already had it the worst one possibly can. Her mom has disappeared, her house burned down and took her father’s life with it. Not to mention her boyfriend broke up with her right before. The story takes us through River trying to figure out her new normal and discovering that not everything is as it seems along the way. I really didn’t anticipate the twists in this one and read it within a day! The first half is a bit slower but it really picks up at the end and will have you guessing!

Everything We Never Said was one of my favorite books last year, so I could not pass up the opportunity to read this! I had no idea what was going on, and once again, that twist took me OUT. Go in blind if you can but stay for the bomb drops.

Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Group Penguin Young Readers for access to this title. All opinions expressed are my own.

First, this book was a pure guilty pleasure. Second, I didn't even read the synopsis when I chose it, it was the cover that seduced me to hit the "Read It" button.

Narrated by River and Logan, All We Lost Was Everything is part mystery and part romance- two ingredients that kept me turning the pages. It takes a little time before the twists arrive but when they do, it is worth it! I can see my teen readers gulping this book up fast. The chapters are not too long and the plot never fizzles. I will say that this is also sometimes described as "dark romance" but the sex scenes are not too outrageous. No one needs to panic if you see your teen reading this title.

I loved this book! The cover is what initially peaked my interest, but ultimately I decided to give it a shot thinking this would be an easy read, just a typical romance with perhaps a few twists and turns - which I do rather enjoy. I really wasn’t expecting this to keep me engaged, but I found the complexities of the storyline, characters and how everything plays out in the book rather surprising. Most of the time with thrillers I have the ending figured out well before I’m half way through…..I was correct in thinking there would be some twists but things didn’t exactly play out as I had thought they would.

I got the same vibes with this book that I did when reading some of Colleen Hoover’s books and also the first book of the Knockemout series (Things We Never Got Over) by Lucy Score. I will absolutely be sharing this book with fellow romance readers. Those that are considering the description of dark romance, please keep in mind that all though there are spicy parts, this is not smut. If you’re looking to dabble in a mysterious, drama filled romance with some steamy sections, then this might be just the book for you. I will throw out there that there may be a few triggers for those who are sensitive to alcohol abuse, loss of a parent, and grief.

I would like to thank Sloan Harlow, NetGalley, and PENGUIN GROUP for the advanced copy of this ebook in exchange for my honest review. Very rarely do I give out five stars but this book really caught my attention and kept me wanting to know how everything would work out in the end. I can’t wait to see what Sloan Harlow comes up with next

Love, love the book! This is the second book by Sloan Harlow that I have gotten the pleasure to read because of NetGalley. River has lost everything. She's young, her mother went on a hike almost a year ago and never returned but she had done this in the past and River had hope until her house caught fire and she escaped but her father died in the fire. She truly lost everything. She has her Aunt and her best friend Tawny to lean on as she navigates her new life. She works at the local restaurant where she meets Logan. River is totally into Logan but the vibe is not returned. River also is trying to find who donated 2 million dollars to her GoFundMe from when her house burned. The story takes you on so many turns of realizing who is really there for you and what it means to live.

Thank you Netgalley and Penguin Group for allowing me to read this e-Arc!

This was def a lot longer than I expected the story to go which I didn’t like so much and I caught myself getting bored which was unfortunate because I wanted to like this book a lot but I think it wasn’t it for me which is totally fine!

You got some twist in here for sure that keeps you on your toes and I thought the author did well with that but could have added more details with the characters as I felt it lacked a little.

Overall I thought this story was okay and would recommend it to others.

The book in the start is terribly slow but the end was something I did not see coming at all. So, I was glad that I didn't leave the book hanging and finished it.

River never seems to catch a break. Her mom disappeared & her dad suddenly died, her boyfriend Noah broke up with her. Her best friend is her only support, but then she meets Logan.

River wants to find her mom who has been missing for over 9 months & believes she is still out there.

The books pacing was off & it lagged quite a bit in the middle.

I totally guessed the twist in the book very early on which is why I rated it a 3.

2.5 stars

This one was pretty good. The first half of the book was really good but the second half was kind of unbelievable. Literally unbelievable. No way can I believe all the stuff that happened to river. I liked her character, tawny got on my nerves, liked Logan, loved tita Anna! The ending felt a little rushed and I wasn’t sure how much time had passed. I feel like she should have spent more time on that and less at the beginning with the love story. Anywho

"All We Lost Was Everything" by Sloan Harlow is a dark romantic thriller that follows eighteen-year-old River Santos as she navigates the aftermath of a devastating house fire that claimed her father's life. The narrative delves into themes of grief, trust, and hidden secrets, with a plot that includes an anonymous $2 million donation and a complex relationship with her enigmatic coworker, Logan Evans. While the story offers intriguing twists and a suspenseful atmosphere, I found some character motivations lacking depth, which affected my overall engagement. Nonetheless, fans of young adult thrillers with romantic elements may find it an enjoyable read.

The poor girl, River, never caught a break. For her, it was heartbreak after heartbreak. Logan was a sweet boy. Noah, ughhh, I literally want to forget him. I didn't like him very much, aside from the rare moments when he helped River. The love triangle situation here reminded me of the book Say You Swear.

However, honestly, this book felt a little too long. I started getting kind of bored around the 43% percent mark until it picked up a little at 62%.

Overall, this was a decent read, it was just that the book length was a little too long for me and there were some discrepancies which lead to some unanswered questions.

Thank you to Sloan Harlow, PENGUIN GROUP Penguin Young Readers Group and NetGalley for this arc! 💕

This book had me captivated from start to finish. I was almost certain that things would have played out a certain way with Logan. He was very suspicious and I knew there was a reason for it, but the reason that I thought was not at all the real reason. I enjoyed her relationship with Logan even though he wasn't honest upfront with her about a lot of things.

There were so many twists that I also wasn't expecting. I really liked how all of the characters were connected in some way or another. Every character in this book really did have something that they were hiding and I was shocked by some more than others. As more mysteries got answers, it felt like several more appeared and I think that is what kept me wanting to read more.

I don't know how Sloan kept herself together when she really did lose everything in a sense. I would have probably shut out the world entirely, but she continues to trust people that she shouldn't.

The plot twist at the end surprised me and I would have never imagined that was the way that things were going to go. That's how you know a book is good is when it leaves you absolutely dumbfounded. Thank you to Netgalley, PENGUIN GROUP, and Sloan Harlow for an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion.
