River never seems to catch a break. Her mom disappeared & her dad suddenly died, her boyfriend Noah broke up with her. Her best friend is her only support, but then she meets Logan.
River wants to find her mom who has been missing for over 9 months & believes she is still out there.
The books pacing was off & it lagged quite a bit in the middle.
I totally guessed the twist in the book very early on which is why I rated it a 3.

Thank you NetGalley, Penguin Group Young Readers, & Sloan Harlow for this #gifted DRC!

2.5 stars
This one was pretty good. The first half of the book was really good but the second half was kind of unbelievable. Literally unbelievable. No way can I believe all the stuff that happened to river. I liked her character, tawny got on my nerves, liked Logan, loved tita Anna! The ending felt a little rushed and I wasn’t sure how much time had passed. I feel like she should have spent more time on that and less at the beginning with the love story. Anywho
Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for a copy in exchange for an honest review.

"All We Lost Was Everything" by Sloan Harlow is a dark romantic thriller that follows eighteen-year-old River Santos as she navigates the aftermath of a devastating house fire that claimed her father's life. The narrative delves into themes of grief, trust, and hidden secrets, with a plot that includes an anonymous $2 million donation and a complex relationship with her enigmatic coworker, Logan Evans. While the story offers intriguing twists and a suspenseful atmosphere, I found some character motivations lacking depth, which affected my overall engagement. Nonetheless, fans of young adult thrillers with romantic elements may find it an enjoyable read.

The poor girl, River, never caught a break. For her, it was heartbreak after heartbreak. Logan was a sweet boy. Noah, ughhh, I literally want to forget him. I didn't like him very much, aside from the rare moments when he helped River. The love triangle situation here reminded me of the book Say You Swear.
However, honestly, this book felt a little too long. I started getting kind of bored around the 43% percent mark until it picked up a little at 62%.
Overall, this was a decent read, it was just that the book length was a little too long for me and there were some discrepancies which lead to some unanswered questions.
Thank you to Sloan Harlow, PENGUIN GROUP Penguin Young Readers Group and NetGalley for this arc! 💕

This book had me captivated from start to finish. I was almost certain that things would have played out a certain way with Logan. He was very suspicious and I knew there was a reason for it, but the reason that I thought was not at all the real reason. I enjoyed her relationship with Logan even though he wasn't honest upfront with her about a lot of things.
There were so many twists that I also wasn't expecting. I really liked how all of the characters were connected in some way or another. Every character in this book really did have something that they were hiding and I was shocked by some more than others. As more mysteries got answers, it felt like several more appeared and I think that is what kept me wanting to read more.
I don't know how Sloan kept herself together when she really did lose everything in a sense. I would have probably shut out the world entirely, but she continues to trust people that she shouldn't.
The plot twist at the end surprised me and I would have never imagined that was the way that things were going to go. That's how you know a book is good is when it leaves you absolutely dumbfounded. Thank you to Netgalley, PENGUIN GROUP, and Sloan Harlow for an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion.

Omg. I’m obsessed!!! This book was everything. Be prepared for all of the emotions. I couldn’t put it down.

I loved everything about this book. It kept me wanting to read more and more and had so many twist in it. Im loving this author. I would recommend this book to all my friends and family.

This was beautifully tragic and kept me yearning for more of the story. It was so eloquently written. I can’t stop thinking about the story.

Thank you for the Arc.
Definitely YA angst vibes. Has some good plot twists for sure. Got me with the ending.
Wish more details were given at times. The random letters that would pop up confused me because of when they were placed in the chapters. It almost made it seem like she was getting responses to her texts.
The ending kinda felt rushed and there was no reconciliation for River and Logan. They were just together.
Either way an entertaining read for a YA.

This is an interesting book that tends to span many genres. From the cover you think dark mystery and then you start reading and it seems a little YA romance, then it gets a bit explicit, then back to mystery thriller. This was a little confusing in my opinion, of course books can be many things but this was like the author wanted to meld a lot of things together. MY only complaint would be either write a YA book or don't. The toeing the line at the beginning and then going overboard was a bit jarring.
The next spot that was confusing was the letters from mom. Which perhaps this will be figured out in the final verison in terms of formatting. It came off like River was getting responses from her mom and it wasn't. Again probably an electronic version to print version can fix.
All in all a quick read but I would prefer her previous publication over this one.
Thank you to Netgalley for the copy of "All We Lost Was Everything"!

River Santos's life is upended when she loses her father and her house in a fire. With her mother MIA, she tries to pick up the pieces and carry on with the help of her best friend and her aunt. The mysteries are endless - why did her boyfriend break up with her? Who is the anonymous donor to her Go Fund Me page? Where is her mother and why hasn’t she returned? This thriller (with some romance!) was enjoyable and I didn’t see any of the twists coming.
That said, there were some clunky moments. Specifically, the placement of the letters from mom. I think they should’ve been their own sections and not placed randomly at the end of some chapters. I also wasn’t totally sure who the target audience was for this book. It gave me YA vibes, but then there were some romantic scenes that gave me pause - the characters are technically adults but I felt that some of the sexier scenes were more graphic than I’d expect from an otherwise YA seeming novel.
Thank you to Net Galley and Penguin Random House for the advanced copy.

I think my high school students will love this book. I thought I had the ending figured out, but I definitely didn’t! There’s suspense, mystery, emotion, and romance all rolled into one.

This book was pretty good i don’t have any complaints whatsoever I’ve always loved Sloan and there is nooooo disappointments AT ALL

This was haunting and chilling truly a good thriller book. I love Sloan's writing and I will read more from her in the future.

Very chilling and haunting. this book made me feel so many different emotions. I absolutely loved it.

I enjoyed this book from the beginning. Learning about the characters and building a relationship with River right out of the gate kept me engaged the entire book.
There were twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting that made this book that’s much more enjoyable!

LOVED IT.
I did not see any of those twists coming. I had limited time for reading when I first started the book, so my pace was slow, but once I got to where you learn Logan has secrets, I blew off my whole day just to finish because I absolutely NEEDED to know what his deal was. I loved how River was confrontational when she found shit out, too. We didn’t have to wait forever to get answers every time she learned new parts of the mysteries in her life.
It was spicier than I expected, so if you don’t like that, you may want to pass.
This was my first Sloan Harlow book, but I’m a forever fan now and may have to go back to read her debut. Thanks, NetGalley and Putnam for the ARC.

River learns that in a world of bittersweet blessings, every silver lining has its cloud. Working at the local diner, River finds herself constantly wondering who the mysterious benefactor could be. It's definitely not her hot but aloof coworker, Logan Evans, who seems to have a personal vendetta against her—until he unexpectedly comes to her rescue in front of her ex. Sparks fly between them, but trust issues are an ever-present storm cloud. As River navigates the tangled mess of secrets from her family’s past and the hidden motives of those around her, she learns that sometimes, the people you least expect are the ones who can help you the most. The mystery of the anonymous donor keeps you guessing, and Logan’s protective side adds an extra layer of swoon-worthy drama. I loved the relatable characters and a roller-coaster of emotions. This is a compelling read that balances heartbreak and hope in equal measure. It’s a story of resilience, unexpected allies, and finding light even in the darkest of times.
This book is perfect for those who enjoy a blend of romance and intrigue, this book will leave you turning pages long into the night.

I like where the story is going but this book gives me the vibe of my Wattpad phase. If my younger self was reading this, for sure I’d be raving about the book. If you’re seeking for a YA romance, mystery, and plot twists, then this is for you. The only problem i had when reading the book was the obvious plot holes.
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

Thank you to Sloan Harlow and NetGalley for this eARC!
I loved this book! It had me hooked from the beginning. I was constantly wanting to read another page! The mystery, the who dun it, the romance, and the thrill of it all were amazing. I kept forgetting I was technically reading a YA book! I really would love to read about what happens to River after the book ends!
