🔥 ┊ “ my mom is gone. my dad is dead. and my life will never be the same. ”

All We Lost Was Everything centers around River Santos, whose father died in a fire just a few months back. Her mother has been missing for over a year. Just as things are beginning to get easier, new information is uncovered about the fire. River is forced to confront many horrible truths, wondering if she ever really knew her parents after all.

I really wanted to like this book but there was just so much that didn't like:

- I don't think this should have been marketed as a YA book. There were like three sex scenes, and the characters felt like they were in their mid-twenties. I honestly thought they were in their twenties until a high school graduation was mentioned.

- Both the love triangle and the romance felt very cookie-cutter, and I think the book would have been better without it taking up so much time.

- Logan, the love interest, was very boring. He was way too clingy (and trust me, I love clingy men) and he felt too much like a cut-out of what a romantic partner should be like, rather than an actual character. I don't think he should have ever been given a POV, as it never really develops the plot.

- I guessed who the main antagonist was right away; usually, I'm fine with figuring out things before the characters, but here I was just bored.

- What we end up finding out about the parents made me lose all sympathy for them.

- The letters from the mom that were at the ends of some of the chapters were confusing. I wish it was explained what they were, as I first thought they were a part of River's imagination.

- I genuinely forgot this was even a thriller because it only brought in the mystery aspect at about the 40% line and it only began to really pick up at about 70%.

- River constantly made the stupidest of decisions.

I read her first book Everything We Never Said last year and loved it. This book was a good. A mild dark romance and thriller.

Even though the book is YA it didn’t feel like it when reading.

There were a lot of plot twists. The twists to me were pretty obvious but overall I had a find time reading this.

God River can anything else go wrong!? Can anyone else lie to you?! I was shaking mad for her. And was guessing the ending wrong the whole time. Mind blown. So so so good. Five stars without a doubt.

Well, the title was accurate. It didn't undersell a thing. Some parts of the book I had figured out by the 3rd chapter. Still there were enough surprises at the end that I appreciated.

This book had a lot going on at the same time which the author was able make it all work well. Good story with mystery and lots of puzzled guessing. River Santos was a girl with a lot of tragedy and baggage. The story flowed well for me and was a quick entertaining read .

Thank you NetGalley for the advanced e-book edition of this book for my honest opinion

River Santos is living through one of the worst years of her life. Her mom left and never came home, her boyfriend broke up with her, and then her dad died in a house fire that she somehow survived. The only people left in her life are her Tita and her best friend Tawny, as she struggles with grief and losing people she loves. Most of her days are spent working at the local diner with Tawny and fawning over their co-worker Logan who seems to want to pretend River doesn't exist. What happens when Logan is suddenly helping her save face in front of her ex? Just when River thinks things are turning around she realizes that in the real world, everyone is hiding something.

This YA romantic thriller had me drawn in and impatient to find out what was happening next! While some of the plot twists were predictable, the final twist had my jaw on the floor! Highly recommend.

this book was not meant to be read by a thirty one year old women. however, my sixteen year old self would have been obsessed with this book. this book had the perfect amount of romance, suspense, and twists for a young adult book. were there some major plot holes, yes but overall a fun read.

thank you so much to net galley and penguin group putnam for the arc.

River Santos believes she has everything she could ever want—until her world is shattered. A year after her mother goes missing, she loses her father in a devastating house fire, and to make matters worse, her boyfriend breaks up with her. Struggling with her grief, River works at a diner alongside her best friend, Tawny, and meets Logan, a charming new guy who starts working there. Just when it seems like things are beginning to improve, River discovers that appearances can be deceiving. Will she uncover the truth, or will she be left wondering what really happened?

This romantic mystery had moments that felt predictable, but the story delivered satisfying twists and surprises along the way. The characters were well-developed without being bogged down by excessive backstories. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, which even led me to explore more works by Sloan Harlow. If you're looking for a young adult mystery with a dash of romance, this book is a great choice.

A special thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Young Readers Group for the advanced reader copy in exchange for honest feedback.

I really really enjoyed this book, It had gotten me emotional a couple times as a realised I loved River as a character. The mystery element to the novel really added that bit of excitement to an otherwise casual romance. As a character I genuinely loved Logan, because even though he had secrets he wasn’t necessarily toxic. The plot point of River losing everything added a sense of uncertainty to what her life would be and I really enjoyed not knowing. The plot twists at every turn was such a fun element.

Thank you to NetGalley for the early copy

First off, I love Sloan Harlow. This book was exactly was I was hoping it would be- dark, twisty, and a little romance. I enjoyed the story and the pacing, and I wanted to know where everything would lead. I read this in one sitting, and I will definitely be recommending it!

Somehow I missed the fact that this was a thriller when reading the description, but I am absolutely not upset about it. This book had me HOOKED. This pulled me out of a major reading slump and I binged it within 24 hours. Was this book a bit dramatic? Yes. Was it definitely a bit of a cheesy YA thriller? Also yes. Will I be recommending this to everyone I see? Absolutely.

I DID NOT SEE THAT ENDING AT ALL! THAT PLOT TWIST HAD ME SPINNING!

Thank you to Penguin Group and NetGalley for the ARC of All We Lost Was Everything in exchange for an honest review.

Overall, I very much enjoyed this read. A tiny hint of dark romance wrapped in a mystery that keeps you coming back for more. I will say first and foremost, I was a little shocked that this was categorized under Teens & YA as I feel the content is a bit too graphic for that, even though the main character is 18 years old. There are aspects that definitely fall on more of the romance side, but to each their own I suppose. In leu of that, I very much enjoyed this book and it makes me want to check out Sloan’s other works.

Long story short, River is 18 years old and reeling from the loss of quite literally everything. Not only did she lose her home to a fire, but she also lost her father in that home on the same night her boyfriend, Noah, dumped her out of the blue. Just prior to the fire that ravaged her life, her mother also walked on out them, effectively leaving her homeless and without any immediate family. She ends up being taken in by her aunt and has her best friend, Tawny, for support. After the fire, Tawny sets up a GoFundMe page for River, and someone anonymously donates $2 million to her cause. But River has absolutely no idea who would do such a thing.

Refusing to use the money, River takes a job at the local diner with Tawny where she meets Logan, a handsome and rather broody coworker who refuses to acknowledge River’s presence. As fate may have it, River slowly breaks down Logan’s defenses and she encounters a different side of him. Could he be the anonymous donor? Slowly but surely, secrets always have a way of eroding and River’s family sure seems to have their fair share of them. Is anyone actually who they say they are? River is about to find out who she can trust and who she cannot.

Filled with twists and turns that I personally did not see coming, River’s story is both heartbreaking and beautiful. I really struggled with having to put this down because…life, but was always excited to pick it back up again. For lovers of dark romance, mystery and thrillers, All We Lost Was Everything is a great read that keeps you engaged from the very beginning. Solid 4.5 out of 5, rounding down for this one! Mark your calendars for May 6th as I’m sure you will want to add this one to your TBR list!

This book was like a ketchup bottle. In the beginning it's very slow and almost nothing comes out or happens but then everything happens at once. I enjoyed it despite the pacing problem. It's spicy, more spicy than I would expect from an YA.

Thanks to NetGalley, the author and the publisher for the chance to read this book.

I didn't realize this is a YA novel until I started reading and that genre isn't my thing. So sorry.

River is grappling with her dad’s death in a fire, her mom’s year-long disappearance, and a recent breakup. With her aunt, best friend, and a potential romance with the broody boy from work, she’s trying to move on. What starts as a story about grief spirals into a wild ride of secrets and twists. A quick, intriguing read in the New Adult genre!

I enjoyed it but wasn’t in love with it. Was pretty spicy for being a YA novel and I did enjoy the twisty twists.

“ Proof that my entire life isn’t a lie”

What is it somebody can lose when they have nothing to lose …everything they have left, their lies, their trust, their secrets, the foundation they have built trust on.

River has just lost her dad, her mom has done one of her famous disappearing acts and somebody started a GoFundMe account for her and there was an anonymous $2 million donation.

This book had so many twists and and turns, I didn’t see them coming, and it had me reading it in in one sitting! I finished this book in a day and I absolutely loved it!
