I loved this! It was a great mix between romance and mystery. I was not expecting the plot twist to the plot twist and was totally shook. Well written plot, great character development, an easy yet captivating read. I will definitely be picking up Harlow’s other novel to read and will be recommending this one to whoever will listen to me rave about it!

I’m not going to rehash the synopsis since you just read it. Some of the things I liked about this dark romantic mystery for young adults is the blending of emotional stakes and tension. As someone who lost their father when they were a teenager, All We Lost Was Everything hit close to home and helped me empathize with River on one level.
There are some twists and turns to this suspenseful book that truly surprised me. The book has a fast pace and at times, it was hard to keep up with all the plot twists, some of which I didn’t feel were necessary. The book created strong emotions for me, not just with River’s grief of losing her dad, but the sort of emotions that stay with you after you’ve finished the book.
I’d give this book 3.5 stars because it held my interest and I genuinely cared about River and hoped for the best. Sometimes the multitude of plot twists pulled me out of the narrative, but I still overall enjoyed this book.

This book was a perfect blend of teenage angst and mystery. Definitely an enjoyable read, with a happily ever after ending.
I'm rating it a solid 4 stars.

I loved the characters in this book and how the mysteries were layered into this book. The romance was great and I loved the bits of steam in this book. The journey River went on and how she discovered the secrets of her family was great. This book had me on edge throughout most of this book.

I LOVED this book!! Let me tell you I didn’t see that twist coming! I loved all the characters and how it all came together and the growth with most of the characters at the end!

A little disappointing for me as I just couldn't get into it fully. I'm not sure what exactly was lacking, but something was definitely missing from the story (at least for me).

My download was unsuccessful and I didn't realize until after the title was archived - unfortunately will not be able to read for review.

So many twists! I guessed a few and there a few I should have caught but didn’t. This is a great upper YA mystery/thriller. I ended staying up too late to finish because I was at the good part aka all the big reveals.

This was a DNF for me at 30%. I just was not invested at all & really nothing happened. That being said I do see what some people would like about it. There was some mystery & potential for romance.

Harlow's All We Lost Was Everything is a tale of a young girl that has seemed to be stuck in a string of bad luck. Her boyfriend broke up with her without explanation and she comes home only to end up being caught in her home as it burns to the ground. Thankfully River is saved and rescued by an unknown individual. River survives but her father and all of their belongings do not. River swears that her unknown rescuer is her mother that abandoned them years ago but none of it is ever for certain.
All We Lost Was Everything is not just a love story is a romantic thriller with a few dashes of spice. Do I find it dark compared to what I have read before? No not at all but it is certainly interesting. This to me is more of a romantic thriller with does of suspense.
The main character of River Santos is one the reader can identify with. Anyone that has ever grown up in a small town with a lead to nothing job struggling with grief can sympathize with River's situation. What adds to the plot line is River's search to find who donated two million dollars to her gofundme to help with the insurance costs after she lost her home, her father, and to help with her medical bills when she recovered from the fire.
So there is that mystery along with where did her mother end up and why has her mother not returned home after everything. Within all of these mini plots and storylines there is the friendship between River and her best friend Tawny, and the budding romance between River and Logan.
Logan is your typical brooding dark boy and Tawny the bubbly beauty. Sure it seems kinda typical but the pair of these characters are so much more then that. The reader can't help but be sucked in to the lives of River, Logan, and Tawny. As the story develops and the plot twist and twines the reader can forget this is not just a romance but a thriller as well. There are so many unexpected twists it keeps the attention.
I don't want to spoil it so you will just have to see for yourself. Not everything and not everyone is who they seem. I certainly was pleasantly surprised by this book and look forward to reading more by Harlow. Until next time. Happy Reading!

All We Lost Was Everything by Sloane Harlow
I went into this one ready for an edge-of-your-seat romantic thriller, but sadly, it didn’t fully deliver the punch I was hoping for. This felt very YA (which makes sense- I think it is), and ultimately, it just read a little young for me. That’s more of a “me” problem than a “book” problem, but it did affect my enjoyment.
The thriller side of things? Not exactly twisty. Not exactly chilling. If I had to describe it, I'd say it was more “mildly suspenseful with a dash of angst” than “nail-biting danger meets swoony romance.”
That said, fans of Sloane Harlow or readers who love a soft, slightly dramatic YA romantic thriller might still enjoy this. Just temper those expectations if you’re chasing something truly heart-racing.
Themes:
Small town secrets
First love flashbacks
Grief and guilt
Unraveling the past
Trauma bonding
Would I recommend it?
Only if YA romantic thrillers are your jam and you don’t mind a slower, less twisty ride. Otherwise, this one might not stick with you long after the final page.

All We Lost Was Everything, by Sloan Harlow, is a great read. While I thought it would be primarily romance, this was not the case. While the romance aspect is prevalent throughout, there is so much more to this book. It is an emotional rollercoaster with twists and turns that will keep you on edge. I appreciate NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with the ARC ebook I read and reviewed. All opinions are my own.

3.5 ⭐️ River loses her dad in a devastating house fire. A GoFundMe is set up to help support her in its wake when someone anonymously donates 2 million. She is basically torn between gratitude and suspicion. Her mother is also mysteriously MIA. This book is full of family secrets. There’s also a love triangle subplot. Overall I found it intriguing and I was genuinely surprised with the ending although I didn’t enjoy the turn the plot took. I also think a few side characters feel a bit underdeveloped and I was a bit disappointed we didn’t see closure regarding Logan’s family drama. Overall, this was a twisty ride about grief and resilience.

This book was super emotional, like there was so much going on and I never knew what was coming next. River has so much happening to her and around her that I don't see how she stayed sane. There are so many truths and lies that you find out throughout the book and you also learn things that you never thought would be real. River and Logan's world are so entwined and they don't even realize how much they are entwined. This book had me guessing what was going to come next and almost every time I was wrong because of course the most common sense things isn't what's actually going to happen.

With its mix of dark secrets and steamy romance, All We Lost Was Everything is definitely a heavy, suspenseful read. But not all of the twists and turns seem realistic—and, in the end, it takes a pretty big suspension of disbelief to follow the character through one major revelation after another.

This was a really good read! At first I thought it was just another love story. Nope! It’s about so much more. There is no black or white here, no all good or all bad. It’s so much more than the blurb lets on. Excellent writing with twist you never see coming! Read this one. It’s going to be on must read lists this year.

This was a fun new adult romance with some twist and turns I did not see coming but it didn’t quite live up to the last release from this author. In this book we follow River a young woman whose father died suddenly in a fire and who isn’t in touch with her mother. When her go fund me randomly ends up with a 2 million dollar donation River is not sure who it’s from but wants to find out which leads to more questions than she ever expected. This was a fun read and had some dark angsty scenes but the romance on this one never quite clicked for me. With that said I still really enjoyed the writing the pacing was a tad slow but was still really enjoyable. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future. I would like to thank NetGalley and the publishers for a chance to read this book for an honest review.

I really liked this storyline even though some aspects were pretty predictable to me. There were many more twists towards the end that I didn’t see coming at all! The romance aspect was sweet and the mystery had me flipping pages long past my bedtime. The ending makes the whole story worth reading for me! I would definitely recommend if you enjoy romance with some mystery and thriller too!

This was so good. I loved the plot and characters. It was paced perfectly. I didn't wanna put it down and was on the edge of my seat
