When eighteen-year-old River Santos's house burned down, she lost everything. Her world changed when her mother goes missing and her father dies in a house fire during her senior year of high school. She’s left with an additional mystery after an anonymous person donates $2,000,000 to her GoFundMe fundraiser. River Santos is stuck—in her job at the diner, in the dead-end town. Her mother has been MIA for nearly a year, and the only people she can count on are the aunt she lives with and her best friend Tawny. Things feel like they’re turning around when Logan—the hot guy at the diner who’s always ignored her—seems interested. It’s complicated by her ex-boyfriend Noah, who she really needs closure with, and the fact that Tawny doesn’t think either of them is good enough for River. But love takes a backseat when new information surfaces about the fire. After all these months trying to move forward, River is forced to rethink everything—including the idea that maybe it wasn’t an accident after all. But who would commit this accident? Why did her father died? River isn’t sure who to trust but she needs to figure it out, fast. Because someone has more than love on their mind. They want revenge. Who? Why?

The author writes a story that's grounded in grief and that explores the ways loss can change our perceptions. The novel includes drunk driving, parental loss, fire, and family trauma. The plot twists around. In this fast-paced thriller, Harlow captures the complexities of human emotions from grief to love. Her characters are well developed. Together, the characters move the plot with increasing speed through jaw-dropping twists. Letters incorporated into the story present other points of view, bringing more book from the author/publisher from Netgalley. I wasn’t obligated to write a favorable review. The opinions expressed are strictly my own.

Absolutely a must read. She hit the nail on the head. You are wrapped in and in a chokehold from the very start. Fast paced amazing read.

This book started slow but then it got crazy busy. All in all it was great and I loved it !! I’m glad that river and Logan finally got together they were so cute together.

This book hooked me right away with its mysterious premise—River survives a house fire she doesn’t remember escaping, and the only clue is a dreamlike memory of someone pulling her out and kissing her temple. Then a massive anonymous donation—two million dollars—shows up on her GoFundMe page, and she has no idea who it’s from or why.
Logan, the love interest and coworker, is broody and secretive. His point of view is included in short, darker chapters that add tension, but I found his character didn’t have much room to grow, which made it harder to connect with him. And just as things are getting complicated, River’s ex-boyfriend Noah reappears—the one who broke her heart and left without explanation—bringing even more emotional chaos to her already fragile world.
As River starts looking into her father’s past (after discovering something unsettling in his safe deposit box), her life begins to unravel. The story explores themes of grief, trauma, and identity, with a strong emotional undercurrent.
While I was initially intrigued, I struggled to stay connected to the characters as the plot became somewhat…unhinged. Unfortunately the book just didn’t quite land—but I can see how others might enjoy it.
Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Group for the ARC!

All We Lost Was Everything by Sloan Harlow was a pretty good read. I liked the mystery and the emotional layers, especially how River dealt with so much loss and confusion. The twists kept me guessing, and even though some parts felt a little over the top, I was invested in finding out how it would all play out. I wouldn’t call it a new favorite, but I definitely enjoyed it and gave it four stars.

This book was a fantastic blend of the romance and thriller genres! I loved the added tension of the romantic connection combined with the elements of secrets and mystery. This story truly kept me on the edge of my seat for the entire ride. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a hint of romance alongside their detective work.

Thank you to the publishers for a copy of this book. This was one of those cases where the blurb sounded interesting and the execution wasn’t what I expected. I wasn’t invested in this one and found myself struggling to connect to the story. This wasn’t a bad book.. just wasn’t my favorite.

First and foremost, thank you to the publisher and the author for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. I loved this story and it was definitely worth the read!

I probably expected more after reading the description, but I couldn't get past the 33% mark. The pacing felt very slow with too much time spent on repetitive moments that didn't move the story forward. I had difficulty connecting with River and the other characters.
The house fire that sets everything off seemed suspicious, but the story didn't dig into enough early on to keep my attention. The same with River's mom disappearing without a trace -- a mystery that was just left there without enough mystery or clues to keep me engaged.
I wanted to enjoy this novel, but the pacing and flat characters just didn't make it worthwhile to keep me interested. Maybe the pacing picks up later, but it I just didn't have it in me to move forward. A one star DNF at 33%
I received a DRC from Penguin Young Readers through NetGalley. This review is my own and reflects my honest thoughts and opinions.

🔥💔 What do you do when you’ve lost everything… and then someone gives it all back—with strings attached? 💔🔥
River Santos is drowning in grief, secrets, and Diet Coke refills.
Her house? Gone.
Her dad? Lost in the flames.
Her mom? Vanished.
But when someone drops TWO MILLION DOLLARS into her GoFundMe, suddenly she’s got more questions than answers—and zero trust in anyone.
Was it you, diner regular with the weird coffee order? Was it you, rich ex-boyfriend who dumped her pre-fire? Definitely not Logan, the broody bad boy coworker who acts like River's a human inconvenience… right? 👀
🖤 River’s life is a mix of grief, burnt memories, mysterious donations, and messy makeouts—and I mean MESSY. (Let’s just say there’s some ear-licking I didn’t see coming 😅.) But even with all the chaos, this story sucked me in. It’s got:
✔️ Insta-angst romance
✔️ Secrets around every corner
✔️ An emotional gut-punch or two
✔️ Twists that had me blinking at the page like 😱
Is it a little dramatic? Yes.
A little unhinged? Also yes.
But it’s the kind of wild YA-adjacent ride that delivers a hot mess in the best way.
And those final twists? Just when I thought we’d wrapped it up—BOOM. More chaos.
✨“I have already been through yesterday, and once was enough, thank you very much.”✨
^ Honestly, SAME, River.
If you like your romantic thrillers with heat, heartbreak, and a trail of secrets behind every door—add this one to your list ASAP.
🎸 Angst. Fire. Mystery. Ear-licking romance. You’ve been warned.

Tons of twists and turns that keep you hooked. Definitely read this of your looking for a bingeable thriller romance

In this teen/YA mystery, eighteen-year-old River Santos’s house burned down, killing her father. Her mother had disappeared nine months before that, so now she was truly alone. Then someone anonymously donates two million dollars to her GoFundMe. With every person who comes into the diner where she works, she wonders, "Was it you?" When River discovers a long-hidden family secret, she suddenly finds herself questioning everyone in her life, even her coworker, Logan Evans. whom she is attracted to.
This had several mysteries that will keep you guessing until almost the very end, and a bit of romance thrown in for good meaure. Perfect for fans of Karen McManus and Gretchen McNeil.

The pacing for this book was completely off for me. The premise was so intriguing, and the book opens with River's quandary: how does she accept millions of dollars from an unknown source? Yet that story problem gets pushed to the side in her personal struggle to further her relationship with Logan as well as what to do about her ex-boyfriend, Noah. Although Noah doesn't figure into the story as much, River and Logan's relationship definitely takes center stage for a while. The book doesn't quite find its balance between River's financial problems, her love life issues, and her grief. It feels like it switches problems out for one another instead of making them run in parallel. The ending felt rushed and a little too over the top, although, given the limited cast of characters, the book didn't have room to include anyone else in the climax and denouement.
This one just didn't do it for me.

Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin Group for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The beginning of this book. I was in love with River, Logan, Tita Ann, and Tawny. By the middle, I was extremely bored, and the ending was so far-fetched that even I couldn't figure it out for a while. I am stuck because I wanted to love this story. Learning about River, who can't catch a break (until she catches one and decides that until she knows the story, she is going to pretend it doesn't exist). I wanted to love River, and I did again until about 50% through the book, and then I thought she was just over the top. I felt like when the book lost my attention. My thoughts went elsewhere.
The only character that I still like and who makes any sense is Tawny. I get it girl. The ending made absolutely no sense. Really how was everyone in the book involved, intertwined, and I still have no freakin clue. I felt like it happened, and it ended.
My opinion: The book was drawn out in the wrong places and underdeveloped in the right places.

I. LOVE. SLOAN. HARLOW.
The first book was so good so when I saw this, I had to apply and I’m so happy I got it. I absolutely am obsessed with her writing. I love romantic thrillers, so I just had a feeling this was going to be amazing and I was not wrong. I am obsessed with River and Logan. The book shocked me a lot, and that normally doesn’t happen and that last twist was, chef’s kiss.😘 !!!
Honestly, my only complaint is that it was over too soon😛 Sloan is going to be an auto buy Author for life for me. I need more statttt
I’m behind on Instagram reviews, but I will edit my review here when I make the graphic and post onto Instagram

Thank you to NetGalley, Penguin Group and Ms. Harlow for the opportunity to read an ARC of this title. An honest review was requested but not required.
MY GOD THE DRAMA THIS BOOK SERVED. It never stopped. Come for the mystery, stay for the five gazillion plot twists, she said. Poor little fledgling adult River is all alone in the world, but for her aunt Ana and her bestie Tawny. She shut down following her dad's death in a house fire (!) that she herself barely survived (!!) that obliterated literally everything she owns (!!!) that was preceded by a breakup with her longtime boyfriend (!!!!) and followed by the disappearance of her mom (!!!!!!!!!!!!). Things could not possibly get worse for poor River, you say? Ha ha, reader, you are incorrect. Foxy fellow diner employee Logan is lurking in the shadows, being nice one day and ice cold the next. Sad sack ex Noah is back in the picture, too ... if River wants him to be. Secrets upon secrets start emerging and all the sudden it's full on Friday-Night-Lights style TV drama. Honestly there were so many twists and reveals I had to reread a few sections. If you like teen/new adult drama and angst this book has it and then some. It was entertaining but it was also ... A Lot.
Recommended to Colleen Hoover's younger-end readers and readers who want a telenovela in book format. ⭐⭐⭐

This had the perfect combo of romance & mystery. I was a little shocked at the steamier scenes seeing as this is labeled as YA. It did present a good amount of twists & "i didn't see that coming" events. I liked some of the characters & hated others. I will say that I read a lot of YA & usually enjoy them....the writing in this just seemed very mediocre. It felt like this was a debut but it was in fact. the authors second book. I think the premise was amazing, it just wasn't executed well. I did enjoy the story & the twists. The cheesy romance was also a great distraction from the other things going on in the book. I will definitely be giving this author another chance in the future as i did enjoy the book for the most part.

This book was extremely emotional and had me in my feels. River’s mom left and her dad died in a fire that nearly killed her too. Her ex is back in town and she still has feelings for him. Her coworker, Logan, never speaks to her and she desperately wants him too. If it weren’t for her best friend, Tawny, and her Tia Anna, she would have lost everything. A mysterious $2 million dollar donation lands in the go fund me they set up for her on the day of her dad’s funeral. She doesn’t know where it came from so she won’t spend it which I don’t blame her for at all. That’s a lot of money for someone to give anonymously.
There were some great twists in this story that I didn’t see coming and I really enjoyed those. River’s grief was so tangible throughout that I could feel it and her strength to carry on really resonated with me. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an e-ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
At first this book was a bit slow, but about 1/3 of the way through, it picked up for me and I couldn't read it fast enough!
The novel follows River, who just lost her dad in a tragic fire - her mom had previously left them and she hasn't heard from her in months.
As she spends her days at the diner she works at, she starts crushing on a co-worker, Logan. Her best friend Tawny things he's all wrong for her, much like her ex, Noah.
One day, new information about the fire emerges, and River starts to question everything that she thinks she knows.
Was the fire an accident as originally thought?
There are several twists in this book that I didn't see coming. I really really enjoyed it!

Another great book from Sloan Harlow! She has written two books now and I’ve loved them both! When I wasn’t reading this book, I wanted to be reading it. I enjoy thrillers and romances and Harlow’s books definitely have elements of both genres. While reading this book as an adult, I had fond memories of parts of my teen years (which doesn’t happen often). The romance between two of the main characters was interesting and realistic. The twists throughout the book were unexpected and engaging. I look forward to more books by Harlow and will be following the author.
