Sloan Harlow delivers yet another gut wrenching, heartbreaking, fiery story of love and loss.

How does she do it? Oh, you know, by casually twisting the knife. Over… and over… andddd…. over. She’s got her story wrapped nicely at first, and then she starts unraveling her plot and reminding you this isn’t a sweet book about romance and grief — at its core it’s a thriller with betrayal and hurt and passion.

River lost everything when her house burned down — including her father. She’s got to move forward, pick up the pieces. But what happens when she realizes she doesn’t truly know the people in her life? Is everyone lying to her? Including her new handsome coworker whose touch burns her up?

UGH. This was so good. It was fast paced, interesting, and every chapter left me wanting to find out more. I would’ve never expected the twist at the end honestly, so I can honestly say this book got me there.

Easy 5 stars. Big thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the early copy!

This story grabbed into my heart and then ripped it out and repeatedly stomped on it (in a good way). It was such an emotional read and I really loved River. After going through things no one should have to live through; especially at her age she just continued to try to put her life back together only to have it shattered over and over again. Sometimes the truth hurts but it is also the only thing that can truly set you free.

When your life flips upside down, the people you trusted walk away, and long-buried secrets come out, you're not the same person afterward. River’s story is a journey of love, loss, survival, and ultimately, finding herself through the absolute worst.
The story is rich and layered, with characters who stay interesting even after their true colors are revealed. It dragged a little in spots, but honestly, every bit felt like it mattered in the end. I enjoyed following River’s journey — it felt real, messy, and completely worth it.

I was fortunate to read @sloanharlowauthor 's debut novel early, and was lucky enough to get sent this one as well! Let's just say, if she writes it, I'm going to read it. This one was such a strong and emotional novel about a girl who's mom left her behind and then lost her father in a house fire and she's living with the after math of that and a 2 million dollar donation she doesn't know what to do with. This one hit me in the feels as I still have a hard time coping with the loss of my dad, so to read about what River was going through was hard because I know what the character was going through. I loved the romance aspect, the drama, and the twists and turns that involved River uncovering secrets.
Be on the look out for this one because you won't want to miss it.

Thank you to Netgalley and Penguin Young Readers Group for the advanced reader's copy of All We Lost Was Everything by Sloan Harlow.

This novel is primarily targeted at a young adult audience, however it contains mature themes and content that some might find spicy. Sloan Harlow delivers a really captivating and emotionally charged story that explores the complexities of love, loss, and the search for truth. I think fans of romantic thrillers will find this novel to be an engaging and thought-provoking read regardless of their age. She did a great job of making this novel both evocative and suspenseful, keeping readers on the edge of their seats with unexpected twists and turns.

No spoilers. Read via kindle ARC.

Wow! The tragedies and the twists (although one I kind of figured, but was still shocked with the whole), there is love and so much heartbreak. The character growth in this was done well. This takes you on a wild adventure of heartbreaks, and keeps you intrigued. I enjoyed reading this, and glad I got the opportunity to read it.

Would I recommend? Yes, if you want to have emotions and feel the feels, this is a good book to give you that.

This book shocked me a lot and that last plot twist….i was like woah. I never seen it coming. I honestly didn’t want this book to end. I really, really enjoyed this.

4 stars!!!

There was a lot going on, sometimes perhaps too much, but it kept you reading. The tragic opening sets the stage well, and I was really interested in seeing how River dealt with the grief and moved on with her recovery. The existence of several secrets gets established early, but then they seem to pile on and on until it's too hard to guess which secret is being uncovered when things are revealed. I do feel like all the threads got tied back up, even if a few of them suffered a bit logically. The interactions between River and Logan were hot, but there was a much more explicit level of sexual detail than I'd expect from a YA novel. I know every positive thing I've just said was followed with a "but", which should not be taken as an indication I didn't like it. I did--it was a solidly entertaining read, with a sustained level of tension, and I was mostly able to ignore the little things that didn't make sense to me.

Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC!

I received this book in January and just finished it today, which should tell you a lot. It definitely had good moments, but at a point, I was praying for it to end. It's longer than it needs to be, and until I got to around 60-65% through it, it felt like it was dragging. There are multiple plot twists that just felt kinda thrown in and it was a bit much for me.

River is my favorite. The side characters are always the best and uniquely from Sloan.
The romance a little and enough.
The pacing was pretty fast for me, and I think easy for younger readers.
The plot was very spirally and the writing were a little filler towards the end.

Perfect if you love:
Who hurt you? Very Deep.
YA but death is here
Murder Mystery Lets make though Vibes
Thriller
DARKKKKKKKKKKKK

Thank you so much to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for this arc!

Thanks to netgalley, the author & the publisher for the ARC. The amount of twists & turns I couldn’t believe the last 30%. I loved the FMC. Talk about morally gray mmc. I can’t wait to own a sprayed edge edition!

All We Lost Was Everything dives deep into grief, trust, and betrayal. Sloan Harlow does a great job capturing River’s emotional turmoil, and the premise immediately hooks you: an anonymous donation that hints at something bigger—and much darker—beneath the surface.

The first half of the novel moves slowly, with most of the focus on River’s day-to-day life as she tries to balance work, personal struggles, and the crushing waves of grief that hit when she least expects it. Nothing major happens for a while, but I did appreciate the way it lets readers sit with her pain. Along the way, we find ourselves questioning, just like River does: who gave her that massive sum of money?

The story finally picks up when we get small glimpses into Logan’s point of view, although those moments are few and far between. I honestly wish we had gotten even more of Logan earlier because that’s where the real intrigue starts building.

When the twists finally hit in the second half, they’re genuinely surprising and pull you in. I found myself flipping pages quickly as the mystery unraveled. However, the pacing at the end felt rushed. The final act packed in major reveals and plot developments that would have been more powerful if given more time to breathe. I would’ve loved for the final twists to be explored in greater depth rather than being sped through.

Genre-wise, it’s marketed as a thriller, but it leans much more into romance than I expected—and honestly, more than I personally wanted. Readers looking for a sharp, twisty thriller might feel thrown off by the heavy focus on the romantic relationship.

If you’re in the mood for a quick, emotional read with thriller vibes and a strong romantic subplot, All We Lost Was Everything is worth picking up. Just go in expecting more heartache and healing than a high-stakes mystery. It’s a story about loss, moving forward, and how even the darkest secrets can eventually come to light.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for providing me with an eARC of this title.

This book was very much not for me. I had read a young adult novel from this author previously and thought it was fine so I wanted to give their adult novel a try. I have learned that I do not enjoy romantic thrillers. I wasn't invested in the mystery, and I actively hated the romance. When the male protagonist started praising the female protagonist for being a virgin and talking about how he was going to make her first time so good she would never want anyone but him, I was officially checked out. That kind of talk is not at all for me. I don't enjoy it at all. I found the sex scenes to be extremely cringey, but that was probably because I hated the male main character so much.

As far as the thriller aspect of this book goes, I didn't really care too much. Once everything was revealed, it didn't really pack a punch for me at all. This really just wasn't the book for me.

Rating: 5⭐️/5

Romantic, mysterious with twists and turns that I did not see coming. I was absolutely obsessed with this one from start to finish. I thought River was such a great FMC and loved having some dual POV with Logan. I really, REALLY enjoyed that all the characters intertwined in some sort of way.

I really am into thrillers lately I guess, but this scratches the thriller and romance itch!

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

I am not sure why but this book did not work for me. However, as I always say when I don't like a book, just because I did not like the book, it doesn't mean that someone else won't like it. It also doesn't necessarily mean that I may not like another book by the same author. Or even that I may not like the book if I try it again in the future...

This is a little mix of everything. It has mystery. It had romance and it had a lot of twists! There’s so many things that happened that I wasn’t able to predict! It had me on the edge of my seat! This is such a fun and twisty read!!

Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for this ARC! ❤️

Was it cheesy? Yes. Was it dramatic? Yes. Was it definitely a YA book. Yes- and guess what?!? I binged the book and loved it for what it was.

River's world has crashed down around her. Her father died in a house fire the same night the love her teenage life abruptly broke up with her, and her mentally unstable mother is in the wind. All that's left is her adoring Filipino aunt and her ride or die best friend Tawny. While navigating her new life, and ignoring the mysteriously gifted 2 million in her bank account, River is caught up in a whirlwind love at first sight with the traditional Mr. Dark and Mysterious Logan. Can River's heart heal amongst all the lies she uncovers and will her mom return- read it and find out.

The twists were fairly predictable and the love interests were extremely dramatic- but what do we expect from a trio of teenagers. This was a great YA thriller with a touch of romance. It was a very easy, quick read, and I highly recommend it.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

I was deeply impacted by this story and its characters—what a plot! The mystery surrounding the anonymous $2 million GoFundMe donation to a teenager who has endured unimaginable hardship instantly pulled me in. She’s lost so much, and as she struggles to adjust to her new reality, she also begins to question whether the money is tied to someone from her past—a past she’s no longer sure she remembers correctly.

The author did a phenomenal job conveying the protagonist’s grief. I could feel the weight of her loss—it was palpable, and at times, crushing. One character who really stuck with me was her new friend from the diner where they work. He rubbed me the wrong way from the start; there was something unsettling and almost invasive about him that made me uneasy the entire book.

Admittedly, the pacing frustrated me early on. By the 60% mark, I found myself asking: what’s happening with the GoFundMe mystery? What exactly went down with her parents? But sticking with it paid off. The ending delivered dark, twisty revelations that left my head spinning and deepened my empathy for the protagonist. She was living a complete lie—and it made me view her not only with sympathy, but with admiration for her resilience.

An excellently written, emotionally gripping novel.

I enjoyed this book. The writing was great, it was an easy read, and it hooked you in and kept you engaged the whole time. I didn’t want to put it down, which has been a big deal for me lately!

River’s story was heartbreaking and crazy. She had gone through so much in such a short period of time, turning her life completely upside down. The way she was able to show people kindness while going through her struggles was amazing. Her friendship with Tawny was so sincere and it’s a relationship you yearn for has a teenager/young adult.

Logan was mysterious in the secrets he was keeping but I felt like he had River’s best interests at heart the whole time. I never doubted that. I like the development of their relationship a lot.

*Spoilers*
The twists were crazy. I wasn’t entirely happy that there were multiple twists involving multiple different people. Felt like a little too much for me but overall they were great revelations. I kinda hated the Tawny twists because I was such a huge fan of their relationship from the beginning.

The letters from River’s mom were confusing. The way they were positioned in the chapters made it seem like we were actually getting responses from her actively. I think just format-wise they needed to be spaced out or have a page break to make it more clear that they were separate from the chapter.
