This is one book that ever word and description caught my attention. When I thought I knew what happened and who the killer was a twist came along.. The story was interesting and well written. Many things were going on a baby missing for 30 years, a dead husband, unexplained DNA, yet it all tied together.

One part I'm still not complaining clear on was why Tosh was being watched while on vacation with her husband?

laire Douglas is one of my go-to thriller authors. I love how she builds tension in such a quiet, creeping way until suddenly you’re in too deep to put the book down. The Wrong Sister was no exception—eerie atmosphere, family secrets, and a mystery that kept me second-guessing myself the whole way through.

I was fully invested, and the twists were solid (one in particular had me stunned), but I didn’t feel quite as emotionally connected to the characters as I wanted to. There were moments that felt just a touch repetitive or slower than necessary—but honestly, that’s me being picky.

This is a perfect pick if you’re in the mood for a slow-burn psychological thriller with dark family drama and a few expertly placed shocks. Claire Douglas never disappoints—she’s firmly on my auto-read list.

A domestic thriller with a lot of possible suspects. This was a decent thriller with a few unforeseen twist. It was a little slow for me, I would have enjoyed it had it been a little bit faster paced. It seemed like it was missing something. It had a lot of characters that were a bit hard to keep up with at times. However it was still a decent read. I would recommend this to anyone who is a fan of: family drama, slow burn & tension. Thank you NetGalley & Harper Perennial fort his ARC

This one started slow for me, and I was convinced I knew the outcome. However, I was pleasantly wrong and the huge twist got me good! Two sisters who lead such different lives, decide to do a “life swap.” But after what seems like a burglary gone wrong, ending with the death of one of their spouses, the sisters team up to find who is targeting them.

My biggest complaint was that one of the POVs was never fully explained, so I have many questions!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and publisher for the ARC!

How can two sisters be SO different?

Tasha, married to Aaron, lives close to her hometown with their two children. Alice is an uber-smart a renowned scientist, married to Kyle - no kids by choice. Needing a break, Alice offers up their Italian home AND offers to babysit for a week. While Alice may not have her own kids, she sure loves Tasha's!

Shortly into their vacation, Tasha receives a terrifying call that her sister and brother in law have been attacked - killing Kyle and landing Alice in ICU. No one can work out what brought this on... until a note arrives to indicate that the intended target was none other than Tasha.

The ending was one I did not immediately see coming, and in fact many of my theories along the way were quite wrong. I enjoyed the ups and downs and different voices throughout, and would love to read more from Douglas.

Thanks to NetGalley, Harper Perennial and Paperbacks/Harper Perennial and Claire Douglas for the eARC.

4/5
I enjoyed this one, however, I felt like the ending was a little flat for me. I enjoyed the whole storyline but i felt like it could have went a little deeper for me. It was a page turner and honestly, that’s where it’s at for me. If it keeps me interested, than I’m going to keep reading it.

This was an interesting one. The plot ran a little slow after the kick off of the death, but interesting enough to keep me reading. I wish the letter sent to Tasha was explained more in the ending. Overall, a good page turner.

I did not want to put this one down! It was a very well thought out story. It was a bit predictable, but in a bad way. I love connecting the clues.

The Wrong Sister is a decent thriller. I felt like it was more of a slow burn. The beginning starts off quicker paced then slows.
The plot is original. Overall enjoyed but didn’t hook me or leave me wanting more.

Synopsis: Tasha and Alice are two close sisters with very different lives. Tasha is married to Aaron and is a devoted mother to her two children, while Alice is a PhD graduate with a successful career and is married to a wealthy tech businessman named Kyle. Alice wants Tasha to have a break so she offers their Venice apartment to Tasha and Aaron, while she and Kyle move into their house for a week to look after the kids. All is going extremely well until Tasha receives a frantic call from home advising that there was a violent attack at their home leaving Alice injured and Kyle dead. How could this happen and why would anyone want to attack Alice and Kyle? Then an anonymous note arrives telling Tasha “it was supposed to be you”.

Thoughts: Family secrets and family dynamics are at the core of this tense domestic thriller. Every family has a story that they tell themselves and others about who they are. We learn that Alice has always been competitive and an overachiever while Tasha lost her way for some time, acting out, before she settled down and became an exemplary mother. A key part of the family story is based on trauma – the disappearance of Holly, the baby, stolen from her pram when she was only 9 months old. All the personal stories and family stories converge when Kyle is struck down and killed in Tasha and Aaron’s house. This was quite an engrossing read with characters that held my interest, although I was a bit surprised and dissatisfied by the ending.

Thanks to Harper Collins for the copy to read.

This is my first read from Douglas and honestly I might not pick up another. The book has several twist that were a bit predictable for this reader. However I understood the author’s intention. I was expecting more of a thriller since the book is described as a dark suspense thriller, but I don’t see where.
Also this book took forever to pick up in several places it was like a slow burn and I wanted an explosion. Once the phone call was received the book picked up a bit but Douglas slowed it down again. The reader is afforded some suspense when the story shifts to Venice, especially when speaking of the alleys.
However it felt like the author has a big bowl and added all that she could to it. I think because the story was told in different POV / point of views hence my struggle with the pace.

This book was more of a family drama with some mystery thrown in. It was slow at first but then picked up and became a fast read, It was a little unbelievable to me, but baring that was an interesting read 3.5

This book involves two sisters, Tasha and Alice and a family full of drama and secrets. Tasha and Aaron are married with twin girls and Alice is married to Kyle. Alice and Kyle are very successful and have a no kid lifestyle. Tasha and Aaron are burnt out, exhausted, and feeling the strain on their marriage. Alice and Kyle decide to watch the kids and let Tasha and Aaron stay in their house in Venice to give then some time away.
Tasha and Aaron are enjoying Venice, when they get the call from back home, saying Kyle is dead and Alice is in the hospital. Why were they attacked and who did it?

This book is a classic case of life isn't always what it seems! A big thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC in exchange for my honest review

I’ve enjoyed every Claire Douglas book I’ve read and this one was no different. It was a slow burn with twists and turns I didn’t figure out and some that I did. I didn’t feel as much of a thriller vibe from this as I was hoping but it was a well rounded story with an ending that brought it all together wonderfully.

Omg, omg.. I absolutely could not put this book down I've said this before but 100% I read this book in less than a day. The twist and this book is unbelievable. That's all I can say you just got to take a chance and it's going to grab you I promise you...

The book masterfully weaves together family secrets, mistaken identities, and unexpected twists. The story centers on two sisters leading drastically different lives: Tasha, who lives modestly with her husband Aaron and twin daughters in Chew Norton, and Alice, who enjoys luxury with husband Kyle in London and owns a Venetian holiday villa.

When Alice offers up their villa so Tasha and Aaron can vacation in Venice, Tasha eagerly accepts despite reservations about leaving her daughters, concerns rooted in a complex family history that includes a third sister, Holly, who mysteriously disappeared as a baby.

What begins as an idyllic Venetian getaway takes a sinister turn after a few unsettling incidents. Then comes devastating news: Alice and Kyle were attacked in Tasha's home, resulting in Kyle's death. Upon returning home, an anonymous note reading "It should have been you..." heightens the tension.

The narrative unfolds through multiple perspectives—Tasha, Alice, and their mother Jeanette—revealing that everyone harbors significant secrets. Douglas excels at creating an ominous atmosphere, particularly in Venice's secluded alleyways, while maintaining a realistic pace that rises and falls with the changing viewpoints.

"The Wrong Sister" succeeds through misdirection, compelling family backstory, and intricate plotting that keeps readers guessing until the final revelation about Holly brings the story full circle. A captivating read that balances red herrings with genuine surprises throughout.

I didn't give it 5 starts because I wasn't thrilled with the ending. Things were tied up a little too neatly and there were loose ends - like the incidents in Venice - we never found out what that was about.

Thank you to Harper Perennial and Paperbacks, Claire Douglas, and NetGalley for the advanced electronic copy The Wrong Sister. All opinions are my own.

Tasha and Alice are sisters, but live very different lives. They decide to do a life swap for one week. During this time, an attack and murder happen at one of the sister’s home and a note is discovered that says “It was meant to be you”. The family has to work together to find out what is going on and, of course, it gets crazy and everyone is a suspect.

I am shocked to discover that this is the first Claire Douglas book I have read. It will definitely not be my last and I am already looking into her backlist to get caught up. I read this book in less than a day and simply could not put it down. The characters were well developed and it was a very twisty plot, while still remaining very believable (which isn't an easy thing to do). I felt the pacing was spot on throughout the entire story. It was such an original premise that it will not easily be forgotten. I will definitely be recommending this book to my thriller loving friends.
