What a ride! This was a quick thriller with so much drama packed into it. The twists were good, the storyline was intriguing, and the characters were suspicious.
There were two big mysteries in this book and I was so desperate to find answers! I felt like there were some small loose ends that weren’t answered but overall I enjoyed reading this!

The Wrong Sister by Claire Douglas @clairedouglasauthor
Sisters Tasha and Alice are polar opposites. Tasha is settled with twins near Bristol, while Alice travels with her husband Kyle. Expecting a break, Tasha and her husband swap homes with Alice. But things take a dark turn: Alice ends up in intensive care after an intruder attack while Kyle is dead. A chilling note arrives: “It was supposed to be you”. In this sensational thriller from the number-one internationally bestselling author, two sisters discover that the secrets they keep from each other prove to be deadly.
Claire Douglas has done it again; reeling me into another twisty, emotionally tangled thriller I couldn’t stop thinking about.
The premise is fantastic: two sisters, a house swap and a chilling attack that ends in murder, with a cryptic note left behind. It’s the kind of hook that promises a fast-paced, emotionally charged thriller. And for a while, it delivers.
But somewhere along the way, the tension started to fizzle. Much of the book felt repetitive, with the main character, Tasha, stuck in loops of guilt and suspicion. The pacing also dragged in the middle.
I also managed to guess the twist beforehand. But honestly, it didn’t stop me from flying through the final few chapters.
Overall, if you're a fan of domestic thrillers and enjoy slow-burning suspense with tangled family dynamics, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 might still be worth a read. But if you're looking for something fast-paced and emotionally gripping, this one may fall a little flat. It's a decent and an enjoyable read, but not one that will stick with me.

Tasha and Alice are sisters who have different lifestyles. Tasha is quieter with a husband and two children. Alice has a lavish lifestyle with her husband Kyle who is a tech genius. Alice suggests she and Kyle stay at Tasha’s house and she can enjoy time with her nieces while Tasha and her husband, Aaron, can stay at Alice’s villa in Italy. While Tasha is in Italy, her sister Alice was attacked at the house and her husband Kyle was killed. There is also a kidnapped sister in the story. Thrilling and full of twists!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Admittedly, it took me quite a while to get into The Wrong Sister. I picked it up several times over the past few months, hoping it would eventually grab me—but I kept putting it back down. With the publication date approaching, I finally powered through. While there were moments that piqued my interest, the thriller as a whole didn’t fully work for me.
The premise is full of suspenseful potential, and there are a few clever twists along the way. However, I struggled to feel invested in the characters or their relationships. The plot is easy to follow, but much of it felt predictable, and the emotional beats didn’t always land for me.
That said, this might appeal to fans of domestic thrillers and psychological dramas with long-buried secrets. If you're drawn to stories with the eerie family dynamics and twisty elements found in shows like The Watcher or movies like Another Simple Favor, you may enjoy this one more than I did.

This was such a gripping read. From the very beginning, I was pulled into the mystery and couldn’t stop flipping pages. The story follows two sisters who seem close, but when tragedy strikes, everything Tasha thought she knew starts to fall apart.
The tension keeps building with every chapter, and just when I thought I had it figured out, another twist hit. That note “It was supposed to be you” gave me goosebumps.
The family secrets run deep in this one, and the suspense was perfectly done. I felt for Tasha the whole way through. The ending was shocking but satisfying.
Tropes:
✔️ Sister dynamics
✔️ Identity confusion
✔️ Home invasion
✔️ Buried family secrets
✔️ Whodunnit vibes
✔️ You-thought-you-knew-them twist

A really nice, twisty story. I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't put it down, I had to know what happened! I love Claire Douglas's writing style so I'm always ready to read a book from her!

Claire Douglas never misses. The Wrong Sister is twisty, tense, and impossible to put down. I flew through this in one sitting because I had to know what was going on. Every time I thought I had a grip on the story, Douglas dropped another reveal that made me question everything.
Tasha and Alice might look alike, but their lives couldn’t be more different. Still, they’re sisters. They trust each other. So when Alice offers to help Tasha by watching her kids, Tasha doesn’t hesitate. But from the second that call comes in, everything spirals. A violent attack. A dead man. Alice in intensive care. And then that note shows up and it’s clear that this story is just getting started.
This one is all about secrets. The ones we keep from our families. The ones we keep from ourselves. And Claire Douglas knows exactly how to unravel them in the most chilling, addictive way.
If you love domestic thrillers that keep you guessing and characters who feel so real you want to scream at them — this one belongs on your TBR immediately.

this is probably my favorite by claire douglas yet!! it was captivating, fast-paced, and full of a suspicious cast of characters 😮💨 I did indeed binge this in a few hours!!
the mystery elements were on par with claire douglas’ unique ideas - and I loved flipping through the pages to see if my theories were right! reader, I was happy to report that I overestimated myself 😅
there were certain parts of the story that were unbelievable and far-fetched, but for a quick binge, I didn’t mind that much! I was simply along for the ride!
what worked the best for me was the way the characters were fleshed out - between the two sisters, the husbands, the moms, I really felt like they were integral to the story!!

I’m so glad this book popped back up so I could finally leave a review—because it was so good! There were so many twists and turns that kept me guessing the entire time, especially trying to figure out who came in and attacked the family. Every time I thought I had it figured out, something else would happen. It was gripping, intense, and just overall such a great read!

This book is a great mystery that will engage the reader right away. From its many twist and turns and false directions the reader will be taken on a fantastical journey to figure out who really attacked Alice and killed her husband. This is a perfect read if you love a good mystery book.
Thank you to Harper Perennial and Paperbacks and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this title.

Huge thanks to NetGalley & Harper Perennial & Paperbacks for an advance copy! #harperperennialpartner
I've read a few books by Claire Douglas and have quite enjoyed them! This was a fast-paced mystery with so many unexpected moving parts! I was suspicious of a few people throughout, but didn't guess the ending. I was left with a few questions at the end though that I would have like answered.
Overall this was a great read with some well written characters and the two plots mixed well! I highly recommend!

3.5 Stars!
This one is intriguing and full of secrets and family drama!
I enjoyed the multiple POVs and was engaged throughout. I guessed some twists and others I did not or only guessed a part of them.
The pacing is a bit up and down - started off quite action-packed and then becomes a slow burn. There were some details that maybe weren’t needed and some repetitiveness that could have been cut out to reduce the book length some.
Overall enjoyed it though and found it to be an easy read!

The Wrong Sister is a solid domestic thriller. Evenly paced, with two mysteries to be solved, this book keeps your attention from beginning to end. Any book with a cat named Princess Sophia and a dog named Freddy Mercury is a winner in my eyes.
3.5 out of 5 stars rounded up to four stars.

Tasha and her husband are finally enjoying a long-overdue escape to the romantic canals of Venice, staying in her sister Alice’s picturesque apartment. Back home, Alice and her husband Kyle have generously offered to watch over Tasha’s young twin daughters. But the serenity of their getaway is shattered when news arrives: Kyle has been violently murdered, and Alice barely survives a brutal attack.
At first glance, it appears to be a gruesome burglary gone terribly wrong. But everything changes when Tasha receives an anonymous note with a chilling message: It should have been you.
As the investigation unfolds, what began as a tragic crime soon spirals into a complex web of betrayal, buried family secrets, and long-simmering tensions that go back decades. Tasha is forced to reexamine everything she thought she knew—about her family, her past, and even herself. With every page, the truth becomes more elusive and the stakes more personal.
Perfect for fans of Frieda McFadden and lovers of twisty psychological thrillers, this gripping novel masterfully builds suspense and delivers an ending that will leave readers stunned. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, the story takes another turn—one that you’ll never see coming.

The Wrong Sister by Claire Douglas is a highly recommended mystery/domestic drama that begs the question: How well do you really know your sister?
Tasha and her husband Aaron lives in Chew Norton, where they grew up, and have three-year-old twin daughters. When her successful older sister, Alice, and her wealthy husband Kyle, suggest the two stay at their vacation home in Venice while they babysit the girls, Tasha and Aaron are thrilled. They have a strange man following them in Venice, which is unsettling, and then they receive a phone call. Someone broke into their home. Kyle is dead and Alice is hospitalized. The two immediately return home to their daughters while the police investigate. Then Tasha receives a note saying, "It was supposed to be you."
This is an even paced novel full of secrets that will definitely hold your attention. There are two mysteries in the plot. First, is the who and why concerning Kyle's murder and the question if the target was supposed to be Tasha. Then there is the missing third daughter, Holly, who was abducted as a baby and greatly impacted their lives. There are several red herrings, numerous secrets, and multiple revelations along the way.
The complex plot is mainly told through Tasha's point-of-view, with additional chapters narrated by Jeanette, Alice and Tasha's mother, and a few chapters by a woman named Bonnie. Suspicions run high and there is misdirection as secrets and suspects are revealed. The final denouement provides a satisfying conclusion.
The Wrong Sister is a good choice for those who enjoy domestic dramas full of secrets. Thanks to Harper Perennial for providing me with an advance reader's copy via NetGalley. My review is voluntary and expresses my honest opinion.
The review will be published on Edelweiss, Barnes & Noble and Amazon.

I am SUCH a sucker for a sister mystery. As I was reading I kept thinking - would my sister ever? Could she ever? Would I ever?
This was gooooood! Kept me engaged, guessing and completely enthralled!

This book seemed extraordinarily long, but that was probably just because I didn’t find it that thrilling. For a thriller that’s a problem. The writing was average, and I was fairly certain I knew who the perpetrator of the murder was rather early on. There were a couple of twists I didn’t see coming. Really though, I just didn’t feel a true sense of urgency, the police seemed rather lackadaisical, and there were some plot holes that I couldn’t get over.

4.25 stars.
The Wrong Sister is a captivating thrilling read. The story follows Tasha and her sister, Alice, who "swap" lives for a few days so that Tasha and her husband, Aaron, can travel for the first time since having twins. But when tragedy hits home, Tasha is forced to rush back. This book has so many twists - and that final one, wow! I kept guessing what would happen - incorrectly, of course - and that tension made me unable to put down the book.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the e-ARC!

"The Wrong Sister” by Claire Douglas is a captivating 5-star read! Tasha and her husband, Aaron, agree to swap homes and lifestyles with her sister, Alice. Alice and her husband, Kyle, will stay at Tasha’s house with her two young children, while Tasha and Aaron take a much-needed vacation to enjoy, at least briefly, a life of luxury in Venice. But when tragedy strikes back home, Tasha is urgently called to return.
The story unfolds through multiple points of view, beginning with Tasha, Alice, and their mother, Jeanette. Each offers a unique perspective on how events are unfolding. A fourth point of view is introduced later in the book, adding even more intrigue. There are secrets between spouses, between family members, and between friends, all leading to a twisty journey with a surprising, yet satisfying, conclusion. I haven’t read anything by this author before, but I plan to read more.
Thanks to Harper Perennial and Paperbacks | Harper Perennial, Claire Douglas, and NetGalley for providing me with the opportunity to read this ARC and share my honest review.

Really enjoyed The Wrong Sister! The story pulled me in right from the start and kept me hooked with all the twists and turns. I especially liked the way the family dynamics were written — so tense and believable. Every time I thought I had it figured out, something unexpected happened, which made it such a fun, fast-paced read. Overall, a great thriller — would definitely read more like this!
