Uhmmm. LOVE.
I thoroughly enjoyed "You Could Do Damage" despite not typically reading mafia-type novels. K.C. Mills delivered a story that grabbed my attention from the first chapter and kept me turning pages until the very end.
The arranged marriage between Kincaid and Nari unfolds with tension and tenderness. What starts as a business arrangement evolves into something genuine, and I found myself rooting for them the unconventional set up. LET IT BE KNOWN- this is the only kind of fake marriage I want to be reading. MKAY?
Kincaid brings everything I love in a male lead :commanding presence, unquestioned power, only capable of genuine vulnerability with the woman he chooses. His transformation from cold businessman to protective partner works because Mills gives him authentic moments over than an unrealistic personality change.
Nari's character seems like a woman trying to find her footing in an unfamiliar world. Her struggles with trust and self-worth feel honest rather than manufactured for drama. The chemistry between her and Kincaid builds at a perfect pace, A little come here- go away, give and take making their connection feel earned rather than rushed.
The supporting cast adds depth to the story, particularly the family dynamics surrounding the organization.
The novel does end on a cliffhanger that left me desperate for the next installment, but quietly......i do not mind a cliffie. I will be waiting for the next chapter in this saga.
As someone who has followed K.C. Mills as an indie author, I'm thrilled to support her traditionally published journey. Her writing has a distinctive voice that shines through in this novel - raw, honest, and not afraid to explore the complicated nature of love when it collides with power, loyalty, and secrets. Also, she stresses me out and I kinda like that.
Mills excels at creating a hero with teeth, a man who commands power but is only soft for his woman. And a heroine that isn't a yes-woman and preserves her dignity.
If you enjoy romance with high stakes, complex characters, and a relationship that defies expectations, "You Could Do Damage" delivers on all fronts. I listened to the audiobook format of this novel and it was well-performed.

You Could Do Damage follows the budding romance of sweet Nari and no-nonsense Kincaid, which is enveloped by power and control. Nari seems a bit apprehensive about how their marriage and relationship started, but I also felt Kincaid did an amazing job of always being intentional with what he says and does, along with being reassuring, Kincaid is everything. He says what he means and means what he says, I love his honesty and his directness. He makes for a great book husband. I am looking forward to a part 2.

Kincaid and Nari were definitely one for the books. Nari comes from nothing and has no family or friends to speak of at all while Kincaid is the polar opposite. He has the wealth, family, & an entire empire to take over once he lands a wife. I really enjoyed this book because of the arranged marriage & these two deciding what would or would not work for them to make it successful. Nari definitely drove me crazy at times with her naivete’ & Kincaid was crazy controlling at times but these two definitely seemed like fate. Definitely looking forward to see what else happens with these two hopefully. Thankful for my complimentary copy for my honest review.

It was interesting.. I did liked the fact that had both perspectives that is indeed very important to me and.. Nari and Kincaid were a couple that found each other in the right time of their lives and that is very important... Also I did liked it that even with the "fake marriage" they were mature for each other

Nari is a bottle girl on the brink of homelessness, and Kincaid is a powerful mafia boss set to inherit his family business, but there's a catch—he needs a wife. One night he saves Nari from an incident at her job, and that sparks Kincaid's interest in the elusive beauty so much so he proposes a mutually beneficial arrangement.
Kincaid didn't play about Nari at all from the very beginning, and Nari was strong-willed and trying to find her footing in this new world she's been thrust into, but they complemented each other rather well. I will say that the miscommunication is strong in this book, and what's crazy is that they make a pact to always be honest with each other and straight-up disregard it, which was frustrating as a reader, but I did enjoyed this book, though. K.C.'s writing definitely sucks you in.
Thank you to Netgalley and Black Odyssey Media for the E-arc.

In this electrifying tale, Nari finds herself on the precipice of homelessness after a devastating betrayal. As their forced marriage ignites fierce desire, the two wounded souls clash emotionally while navigating an increasingly perilous world. Kincaid's carefully constructed life begins to unravel as Nari awakens feelings within him he thought long buried. Their connection becomes fraught with secrets and the terrifying realization that their passion may yet destroy them. With danger closing in from all sides, this thrilling blend of romance and suspense keeps you on edge, questioning what will ultimately win—passion or survival. You Could Do Damage is a worthy-read for anyone drawn to intense, high-stakes stories of forbidden attraction and emotional warfare.

Count me in for any story featuring one of my favorite writing tropes, an arranged marriage! Nari and Kincaid had an unconventional introduction....
What followed was a slow, but interesting buildup that intertwined their relationship and Kincaid's standing with "The Families." As I continued to read, jealousy, lack of communication and outside forces set the tone for what will mostly certainly be a compelling wrap-up in the next book, And I for one, am looking forward to it.
Thank you NetGalley, publisher Black Odyssey Media and author K.C. Mills for an advance reader’s copy in exchange for a honest review. All opinions are my own.

whoo boy, what a time!
I was seriously digging this relationship between Kincaid and Nari! I liked the mafia-esque elements to the plot, they were very intriguing! There were some instances where I wanted to basically spritz Kincaid with water, like trying to curb a cat from doing something they're not supposed to, but that means he was written well with all the possessiveness he had.
Nari's feelings of belonging and a fish out of water were explained so well, and I really appreciated the perspective she had going in to the relationship.
All in all a very good time, and I can't wait to find out what happens next!
Thank you to Black Odyssey Media and Netgalley for an e-copy.

You can do damage by K.C. Mills is an urban fiction romance following the budding romance of Nari and Kincaid amidst power and control. I eventually learned to love this book and its characters. I understood Nari’s apprehension about the origin of the marriage and relationship but I also felt Kincaid did a beautiful job always being intentional and honest and reassuring which became overwhelming that it was a constant tug of war but it was written beautifully. Nothing is a easy as it appears and as Nari awaits for the other shoe drop it does and I know for sure it’s more than she could handle but I would love to see her boss up and stand by her man but only time will tell. Kincaid is everything, I love his honesty and his forwardness and he doesn’t play about his wife all characteristics I love in a book husband. I am patiently waiting to see what’s next for Caid and Nari and how they will both grow and progress within this union. I really love the unraveling of how all the parts and characters are connected. This was definitely a slow burn.
4 star rating and I do recommend. Thank You to Black Odyssey Media via Netgalley for providing me with an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I was vibing with this book … until I wasn’t. As I got closer to the end I started to really dislike Kincaid. I wasn’t feeling his arrogance and superiority complex. I get it, he’s a boss but the comments about Nari being immature bothered me.
The story was somewhat predictable as well. I think I could’ve overlooked that if not for my dislike for the MMC.
Also the interaction between Kincaid and Val really bothered me! If the roles were reversed heads would have rolled. He said he was almost tempted. Like ew.
I’ve read some books by K.C Mills and I’ve enjoyed them but this was not my cup of tea. I felt like the story was dragging and then to have a cliffhanger?! I’m not a happy camper

You Could Do Damage" is a captivating and electrifying tale that beautifully intertwines romance and suspense through the arranged marriage of Kincaid and Nari. This gripping novel takes readers on a journey full of passion, intrigue, and undeniable love.
Kincaid, a formidable figure within The Families—a powerful crime syndicate with its roots deeply embedded in every facet of society from business to politics—brings an unwavering strength to his union with Nari. From the very first day, Kincaid's resolute stance and commitment to Nari are palpable. His unwavering dedication and pressure applied in protecting and prioritizing Nari from day one demonstrate a love that is both fierce and genuine.
The chemistry between Kincaid and Nari is undeniable and leaps off the pages, drawing
readers into their world. Their love story is not only about the strength of their bond but also about how they navigate the complexities and dangers surrounding them. Kincaid’s protective nature ensures Nari feels cherished and safe, while Nari’s own strength and determination make her a perfect match for Kincaid.
This novel is a must-read for anyone who appreciates a love story filled with tension, devotion, and an undercurrent of power dynamics that keep the heart racing. "You Could Do Damage" masterfully showcases how love can bloom and thrive even in the most challenging of circumstances, leaving readers both satisfied and yearning for more, especially with the ending.

I think that this is a great book for romance readers who enjoy mafia romances and marriage of convenience. Nari has no money and no family so when the wealthy Kincaid Akel offers her a job - as his wife - she has no valid reason to refuse. I personally am not a fan of Kincaid but I can see him as a lot of reader's new book boyfriend

Thank you to NetGalley, and black odyssey for the eARC of this book. when I saw this book by KC Mills, I knew I wanted to read it, and I also loved the title.
4.5 stars
I just finished reading an eARC of this book, coming out on February 25th, and if you love a Millionaire romance, arranged marriage/marriage of convenience, where the MMC will do anything for the female, possessive, touch her and you will get unalive, speak to her and he will put you in your place, not afraid to let everyone know that she is his, you will love this read. Kincaid needed a wife for his pending status in his crime family, and Nari needed a break from her struggling life, she has no one in her life who she can depend on. She had one job marry Kincaid and her life will never be the same. when she agreed to marry this man, she had no idea the world she was entering into and what was required of her. Nari struggled dealing with what was fake and what was real in this new relationship. I enjoyed how the MMC allowed the female to have a safe space to where she could ask questions, how he tried to make her comfortable as much as possible with their new arrangement. I loved the theme of found family after everything that Nari went through growing up. I also liked that it was somewhat a slow burn as well and didn't make it just about sex. I enjoyed the pace, I think this was well written, and I finished this in less than a day and that cliffhanger at the end I need book 2 like yesterday 😊

This is my second read by K.C. Mills & I must say I was really impressed this time around! This got me out of a reading slump.
I was drawn into the whole plot of this story from the beginning. This book gives mob/mafia vibes, where money is power and loyalty is everything. Kincaid is definitely an alpha male, while Nari doesn't let him intimidate her just because of his rank in power & his serious demeanor.
This is a slow burn, but also a insta-love romance. (It makes sense when you read it 😅). The spicy scenes are sexy & don't take away from the plot.
I kept trying to figure out why in the world did Kincaid know that Nari was the one he wanted to be with out of all these women he had access to. Just when I thought I knew the answer, a couple of twists are thrown in. I cannot wait for book number two to come out! I need answers! Now!
Thank you to NetGalley & Black Odyssey Media for the eARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.❤️

Wow, this was my first book by this author and I would for sure read one. What a ride! I enjoy the romance and the pacing throughout.

Amazing romance here. Right kind of spice! I just loved it so much.
I fell in love with the caracters.
A must to read in 2025.

Wow!! I loved this book. If morally grey was a noun it would be Kincaid. Kincaid needs to marry to take over as the head of a mafia-ish type family among a group of families. He is Arranged to marry the daughter of his father’s business associate but he discovers some information that would put his family in serious financial jeopardy if he goes through with that marriage. Enter Nari. Nari is down on her luck and works at an ultra exclusive club as a server. She has notices Kincaid but it doesn’t seem like he notices her until a patron puts his hands on Nari. Since this is that book, he of course has made a grave mistake. Kincaid feeling an odd connection to Nari that he doesn’t understand, decides she is the woman that is meant to be his wife and he goes about making that happen.
So if you like morally grey heroes whose grey is so dark it’s almost black and he will do anything for the woman in his life, this is the book for you. Kincaid, whew, I need a Kincaid in my life. If touch her and 💀 was a person, it would be Kincaid. He had an absolute need to get what he wants by any means necessary… and he wants Nari. Nari, is young but she has been thought a lot in her life and she doesn’t just sit back and let Kincaid boss her around. Their age gap is not always a big deal but when Nari makes rash decisions you can see her youth on display. Kincaid was the ultimate protector and he knew just how to win Nari’s heart. Unfortunately, he didn’t anticipate outside forces working to drive them apart. I loved this book. It does end on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to read book 2.
Thank you to Black Odyssey Media and NetGalley for the Opportunity to review this book.

Nari’s life hasn’t been easy, but everything changes when she meets Kincaid – a powerful alpha male with his eyes set on her. Coming from completely different worlds, their connection faces many challenges. What starts as a business arrangement soon turns into something much deeper. I loved watching Nari navigate Kincaid’s world, and I can’t wait to see where their story goes next! 💫

Thank you Black Odyssey Media and NetGalley for the eARC of this book! I have loved every K.C. Mills book I’ve read so far and this is no exception. I can’t wait for book 2!

K.C. Mills's engrossing romance "You Could Do Damage" delves into themes of love, resiliency, and personal development. Kincaid Akel, a businessman negotiating a criminal underworld, and Nari Collette, a young woman facing homelessness following a betrayal, are the subjects of the narrative. Their love and trust are put to the test by their unplanned marriage. I enjoyed the realistic dialogue, genuine character development, and captivating plot. Because of Mills' lyrical and approachable writing style, characters come to life and their hardships become relatable. With its detailed descriptions that transport readers to the world of the characters, the setting is also important. A thoughtful examination of identity and love, "You Could Do Damage" encourages contemplation on interpersonal bonds and the strength of love.
