Thanks NetGalley and Amazon Crossing Kids for the ARC. I’m very happy to find another Spanish author in the collection.
This lovely book is a must read! The powerful and sweet relationship between grandfather and grandson having fun in the outdoors feels real.
It shares enjoyment and respect for nature and quality time. I love how cozy and emotional it feels. The large vibrant illustrations go perfectly with the story pace. A children book that will be appreciate by any age. Excellent done!

A story about a boy named Emilio spending his summer vacation with his Abuelo, who lives in the forest, and an adventure they go on to the moon.
This book's illustration style is distinct and beautiful, and I especially appreciated the unique angles and perspectives the illustrator included throughout the book, which added a mysterious and quiet mood to the book that brought you into the story. My preschooler especially liked the picture of Emilio imagining that he and his grandfather are different animals on their hike and wanted to spend a lot of extra time looking at it.
The book had a lyrical writing style - which isn't always the easiest thing to accomplish when translating from another language - that sparked the imagination when combined with the illustration. As we read it, we wondered where in the world this book was set; we decided that it felt like it could be either in Argentina or Spain. Then, after finishing it, we looked up where the author and illustrator are from and were delighted to find that the author is Argentinian and the illustrator is Spanish!

Translated from the Spanish by Lawrence Schimel. illustrated by Ana Sender.
Emilio takes the train to visit his abuelo who lives in the mountains near the forest where grandfather tells tales and helps Emilio to appreciate nature and more. Excellent tale about love, family and the world of nature around us.
The illustrations by the Ana Sender are lovingly detailed, delightfully colorful, and FUN!
Well suited for reading WITH someone any age from 4 and up, including ESL, and great for gifting to everyone, but especially to a school or your local public library!
I requested and received a temporary uncorrected eGalley on Adobe Digital Editions from Amazon Crossing Kids via NetGalley. Avail Apr 15, 2025

This was a charming little story about a grandson and grandfather, and both of them clearly having strong imaginations. The art of this book was beautiful and the story was very cute, ending in a way that was fun and tied in cleanly to the title and premise without distracting from the relationship between a grandparent and their grandchild.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for granting access to this book
This is a beautiful story with many important themes. I loved the relationship between grandson and grandfather and it really touched my heart. Furthemore, this book also teaches childen about the beauty of nature, and I believe that you are never too young to learn that. This book is overall very moving and special and I definitely recommend it.

Simple storytelling along with vivid pictures which are sure to pique the interest of child and adults alike. For me it was a return to my childhood days...carefree and filled with uniquely interesting surroundings which can be freely customised with your imagination.
Must read with your little one. Bon voyage to the moon!

How to Reach the Moon is a sweet and charming story about a boy and his grandpa on an adventure to find the moon. The adorable illustrations bring the heartwarming tale to life, making it a delightful read. It's the perfect length for a bedtime story, and my little one, who adores her grandpa, absolutely loved it. A wonderful book for families looking to share a special moment together!

A fantastical and wholesome story with an emphasis on grandfather-grandchild relationship. The artwork is beautiful but not overwhelming for a child. The writing is easy to read aloud to a child and descriptive to encourage imaginative thinking.

This was a really lovely read.
The relationship of the boy and the grandpa is heartwarming, there is just the right amount of adventure for children to feel a sense of wonder as they read, the writing is lyrical, and the illustrations bring it all to life perfectly.
I really enjoyed this book.

A very charming, lyrical, beautifully illustrated picture book about a grandson spending time with his grandfather in the countryside. Quiet and contemplative, with a little bit of adventure. I won't ruin the surprise about how to reach the moon, but it's delightful.

Sweet, touching, and fun. The illustrations are beautiful. I loved the connection with a grandparent. Great story.

A cute dreamy story for children , I for sure would recommend it to my friends who have kids like reading

Wow!! I will be picking up this book immediately!! It is beautifully illustrated-the cover and the title were quick to catch my interest and the beautiful language illustrating the story had me quickly flipping through the pages wanting to continue their journey.
This story captivates so many wonderful aspects, the nostalgia of time with loved ones, long summer days, adventure and that elusive love for the moon! I truly adored their adventure to the moon and the joy in finding it.
Will be sharing and recommending with many friends. Everything is beautifully executed!!

This is such a sweet story about a little boy spending time with his grandfather. It's warm, nostalgic, and creative, as the grandfather tells fantastic stories under the light of the moon. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this.

How to Reach the Moon by Nicolás Schuff is a children's picture book about Emilio, who loves spending vacations with his abuelo. This book beautifully showcases Emilio’s relationship with his grandpa and their adventures. During his stay at Abuelo's house, on a full moon night, they set out on an adventure to meet the moon, traveling through a mysterious forest.
The book is short and lovely, and I’m sure kids will enjoy it. It features plenty of charming illustrations, and the language is simple and easy to follow.
Thank you, NetGalley, for providing me with the ARC of this book.

Featured in a Read with Grandma Session. . .
Ah. . .a book of boys. Young and Old. Hijos y Abuelos (Padres are only implied en este libro). My grandson and granddaughter read through this with me a few times and then we discussed. . .
On the story: we love the trip by train. the words draw a picture of how abuelo looks - and how the wind moves the trees. they eat dinner outside and tell stories. stories with great names like The Adventures of the Mouse-Faced Bird!. Emilio gets to jump into the moon!! I want to jump into the moon!
On the illustrations: I love the plants, all the plants. Emilio's hair, and Abuelo's green hat with feather and flowers. Oh, and his moustache. and his hairy legs. The scary animals that have Emilio and Abuelo shadows in them. . .the moon. THE JUMP!
At the end - How many Stars?: All the Stars. ("can we ask for more or is that against the rules?" one thoughtfully asks; "just say all and they'll get the message," says the sister who knows her way around grownups; "indeed, they will," murmured the abuela in the room).
*A sincere thank you to Nicolás Schuff (Author), Ana Sender (Illustrator), Lawrence Schimel (Translator), Amazon Crossing Kids, and NetGalley for an ARC to read and review independently.*

Warm and cozy! I loved the illustrations and story. I would recommend this to kids and their families.

A Special Bond
Emilio’s trip to see his Abuelo (Grandfather) captures a sweet bond of a grandson and grandfather. This would make a wonderful addition to an at home library. A great bedtime story that could be used to drum up excitement for a sleepover with grandparents.
I received a free copy of this book from Nicolás Schuff (Author), Ana Sender (Illustrator), Lawrence Schimel (Translator) and Amazon Crossing Kids. I am voluntarily leaving a review. All opinions are my own.
