I did enjoy this book, but because I didn’t read book 1 I felt like I was missing out on some parts of the story.
I did enjoy what I read and I would carry on.

Definitely going to reread this after I’ve read book 1.

My first Clea Koff novel but definitely not my last. Packed with secrets and lies. Lots of great tension kept me totally engaged.

First novel I've read by this author and whilst I probably would have benefited from knowing the earlier ones, I still really enjoyed it.
Well written, good pace with an interesting plot.

Jayne and Steelie run a Nonprofit Agency looking for missing persons in L.A, identifying bodies and giving families closure where possible, working with other agencies such as local police departments and the FBI where necessary.
In their thirties, their private lives give a lighter relief to the darker elements of the story of bodies being found and a killer on the loose. I found it both interesting and suspenseful. Only when I finished it did I realize that it was the second in a series which I intend to rectify!

I enjoyed this book, but there was nothing that stood out in it particularly for me. It felt like a fairly run of the mill police procedural with quite a lot of filler, but I did like the characters and would try other books in this series!

I really like this series because it’s a bit different than the typical crime thriller and protagonist. Especially considering it’s written by an actual forensic anthropologist (which sounds like all of my childhood Indiana Jones dreams come true!) Yes, I’m aware that there is also Kathy Reichs. I’m just saying that this series is a unique take on forensic anthropology seeing as it pertains to not just the crime aspect, but the identification of missing and unidentified people as a regular goal. I really enjoyed the banter between all of the characters, although Jayne’s relationship paranoia was a bit questionable at times. Overall though, the story was really engaging and I did enjoy reading it. I did know who the killer was as soon as their character appeared in the story, but I think it’s only because I’m incredibly cynical! A great read and I’m looking forward to book 3!

This is the second book I have read featuring hall and Lander by clea koff. I absolutely reccomend that you try these books. They are very well written and I'm certain this will do well in the bookshops.

Solid plot, complex mystery, interesting cast of investigators, all co,bine into a fast paced and engaging mystery. You will root for the good guys and nail bite as they trail the bad guy! Great for mystery fans!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | A Fascinating Forensic Thriller

Going into Deadly Evidence, I didn’t realize it was the second book in the series, and I definitely wish I had read the first one beforehand. While the story stands on its own, I feel like I would have enjoyed it more with the full background.

That said, Clea Koff’s expertise in forensic anthropology shines through every page. You can tell she’s highly educated in the field, and it adds an authenticity that makes the investigative aspects feel incredibly real. The story is compelling, and the details are both fascinating and chilling.

If you’re interested in forensic thrillers, I’d recommend starting with book one, but either way, this is a solid read that delivers on suspense and realism.

This is the second Jayne and Steelie that I have read. I found this one to be a bit heavy going. There were times the story focused on Jayne’s relationship with Scott which was fine and then other times when it was all about the case. The procedural bits were interesting and well written.

I haven’t read the first book in this series, but this works well as a standalone. It’s an entertaining murder mystery. Not really a thriller, but there’s enough action to keep the pace moving and I liked the two central characters, Lander and Hall who work well together and are dire to the story. It’s set in America and with various police and other agencies involved, it’s a bit of a mixed police procedural too. After a body is discovered, it becomes clear that there’s more going on than first thought. There are twists and turns and it kept my attention throughout, so an enjoyable escapist read.

As others have already said, it's better if you read the first book in the series so that you are already prepped with the characters. I hadn't and did feel at times the I was missing something. The story starts with the discovery of a body and the subsequent identification which later leads to the search for a second one. As it's set in America the procedures and agencies involved are different than in the UK so a bit difficult to get into at times. Its a good read with some suspense involved but I was disappointed in what seemed like a hurried ending to tie up all the loose ends. I would try another book by this author as I enjoyed the writing style

Not familiar with this author and this is part of a series. The book is set in LA and reads like an episode of any American tv detective series. Multiple agencies involved, falling over each other’s procedures. Steelie and Jayne come over as the ‘heart’ that’s needed in solving a crime. They look after everyone else’s emotions while helping to solve the murders. A decent enough story but a bit too gung ho for me.

Took a while to get into this but that's because it's part of a series and I started on book 2. Excellently written though and quite dark reading. I'm going back yo read the first.

Having read the first in the series, I was excited to review this book too and it didn't disappoint. Offering lots of intrigue and edge of the seat moments, it was a brilliant read!

After reading the first book in this series in one sitting, I could not pass up the chance to get this one. Dive back into another case of bodies needing to be identified, cold clues, and a group of investigators working together to stop crime cold.

This was one of the better books I have read this month. It was fun, kept you on the edge of your seat, and revealed a case that kept you wanting more. The building of the case, as well as the challenges faced in working the case, brings it a real feel.

I highly recommend this series! The author draws on knowledge gained from time in her career, and brings a new element to crime writing. After working some of the worst scenes in history, being able to turn to writing and sharing some horrors without laying it all out is brilliant.

Clea Koff is an author that I am going to be watching, and I look forward to seeing much more from her.

Deadly Evidence is the second book in the very intriguing series Jayne and Steelie.

I started the book then backtracked to read the first book Silent Evidence and I am so glad I did , I loved it.

Steelie and Jayne are forensic antrhopologists and are dealing with their own personal trauma .

They both are strong characters that are determined to indentify the male body found on campus.

Another body is found and now Steelie and Jayne are racing against the clock and questioning if this is the work of a serial killer.

Clea Koff takes the reader down a path full of twists and turns and kept me guessing to who the murder suspect was.

The cast of characters are strong, they play off each other very well and I cant wait to learn more about Jayne , Steelie, Eric and Scott.

I am excited for this series and I will be one of the first in line for the next book in the series.

Really enjoyable book. Hadn't read the first in the series and took me a while to catch up, however I still greatly enjoyed it.
The characters were well developed and interesting and it's definitely inspired me to read the first book.
Looking forward to the 3rd in the series!
