Just finished Last Night Was Fun by Holly Michelle, and it was an absolute delight! This book perfectly captures the magic of spontaneous nights, unexpected connections, and the kind of laughter that stays with you long after the moment has passed.

The characters are so vibrant and relatable—it felt like I was right there with them, experiencing every hilarious mishap and heartfelt moment. Holly Michelle’s writing is witty, charming, and full of life, making it impossible to put this book down.

If you’re looking for a feel-good read that will leave you smiling and maybe even reminiscing about your own unforgettable nights, this is it. Highly recommend for anyone in need of a fun, heartwarming escape!

Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager and Holly Michelle for this ARC in exchange for my honest review! I absolutely DEVOURED this book! I sat down and read it in one day, which I typically don’t do, but I just wanted to keep reading to see how their story was going to unfold. The tension was CHEFS KISS. I completely fell in love with Gabe and Emmy and their relationship! There were so many points while reading where I was giggling and kicking my feet because of their banter OMG! I also really enjoyed the work place aspect to this book as well, and the tension that brought into their relationship. I definitely need to read more of Holly Michelle’s work!!!!

I actually received physical copy of this in a Bookstagram giveaway after requesting it on NetGalley and read it immediately upon receipt.

Last Night Was Fun was an amazing, can't put down, read that I devoured in one sitting.

I love reading books by Holly James/Michelle as her characters are always well developed and Emmy & Gabe were no exception.

I really loved the You've Got Mail/Hating Game vibes and while a few plot points were predictable, they were well executed.

I also loved the easter egg reference to a previous Holly James work.

I can't recommend this enough.

omg an open door you’ve got mail retelling reminiscent of the hating game???? sign me up!

from the get go this was a romp and although it was all very predictable, i was having too much fun with the tropes (which were delivered flawlessly, ate it up, 10/10) and i now need her next book asap rocky. this was a fast paced, breezy, romantic and fun story!!

I really enjoyed this book!
It's a cute, modern spin on "You've Got Mail", perfectly blended with every I love about "The Hating Game".
Full of banter and tropes, "Last Night Was Fun" is a sweet romcom that makes for an ideal summer read.

This was a great contemporary romance! Emmy was a good main character (I love a solo POV novel!), and I really liked Gabe as the love interest. I enjoyed that Emmy's family played such a big part of the story, Overall, I would definitely recommend to those who like solo POV novels and You've Got Mail!

I received an e-ARC from the publisher.

Last night was fun…because I read this book!

Emmy and Gabe have been adversaries at work for several years. They are both statistic analysts for a baseball team. Gabe is an ex jock nerd hottie who is one of the guys and she is the only girl at work. She is constantly working harder to prove herself and now that they are competing for the same promotion she is determined to beat him, she can’t afford a distraction…until she gets a random text from a wrong number saying “last night was fun 😊” turns out the guy was given a fake number and that fake number happened to be Emmy’s. They strike up a texting relationship and when Emmy asks mystery man to her sisters wedding and they meet, her mystery dream guy turns out to be her work rival! Now they have to navigate their feelings on a romantic weekend in Mexico where there is only one bed 😉

This was such a fun read filled with laughs and an epic grand gesture at the end! It’s third person one POV which isn’t usually my jam but I loved this book! Definitely recommend for fans of the wrong number, enemies to lovers, only one bed and I desperately need a date to my sisters wedding tropes. Thank you Avon and NetGalley for the advanced copy!

I couldn't put this book down! I loved The Hating Game, so this was right up my alley. Workplace rivals to friends to lovers, yes please! Throw in the twist and the fantastic banter between Axe Murderer and Bird Girl and you've got a 5 star book!

The premise of the book is that Emmy gets a text from a random number "Last night was fun. 🙂" and starts up a text message relationship with Axe Murderer. She tells him things she's never told anybody, and vice versa. She invites him to be her plus one to her sister's fancy destination wedding and he agrees, but first, they have to meet in person. Lo and behold, it's none other than Gabe, her work nemesis who is vying for the same promotion she is.

They decide to go to Mexico together, there's a one bed situation and Emmy tries to fight the growing attraction. At first, she has a hard time wrapping her head around the fact that Gabe and Axe Murderer are the same person.

This is one of the best romance books I've read in a long time! Please, please let there be a sequel featuring Pedro and Beth!

“Last Night Was Fun”

Baseball, brains & banter! What more could I ask for in a romance novel? This author was new to me, but I am absolutely adding her to my “auto buy” list. Featuring two enjoyable main characters & a group of side characters that enhance the story, this one kept me laughing. And by laughing, I mean deep belly laughs, often to the point where my husband would ask what was so funny. This book reminded me of the glory days of Hollywood romcoms - it was that good. I plan on purchasing in all formats upon its release in June!

This is a more modern, R rated version of You’ve Got Mail. Very cute and an easy read. I see this as a vacation beach book.

Ummm hello absolutely wonderful romance that came out of nowhere! Holly Michelle, let's be best friends. Was this book statistically plausible, most likely no, but I also love that she called it out for that. But was everything about this book perfection? Yes. A million times YES. The banter, the enemies to lovers, the texts, even the weird bird band jokes. I started this book at 9pm and stayed awake until 3am finishing it. This book comes out in June and I recommend everyone run to NetGalley and try to get an advanced copy!

So glad I was given a chance to read this ARC from Holly Michelle and NetGalley, I will read anything she writes moving forward!

I’m a sports romance girly, so of course I got hooked on this book from the get-go (even though I partially forgot what it was about when I started). A rivals-to-lovers romcom with some serious “You’ve got Mail” vibes, I absolutely devoured each page with all its witty banter and sizzling slow burn. Gabe and Emmy are seriously a perfect pair, and I so enjoyed how their relationship came to be! Plus the spiceeee?? Not too much, not too little, was the perfect amount and fit the atmosphere of the book superbly. The third act conflict didddd anger me a bitttt, but the ending made up for it.

📚ARC REVIEW 📚

Last Night Was Fun⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

When Emmy gets an unknown number text message, she engages in a conversation with the stranger. They instantly hit it off and start texting all the time. She looks forwards to these text all day, since she is under stress at work. She’s up for a big promotion in a male dominated field and her annoying co worker, Gabe, is also in the running for it. Deciding to take it to the next level, she invites “unknown number” to her sister‘s wedding in Cancun. But when they meet before the wedding, she is shocked at who shows up.

This book was easy to binge. It’s so good and I loved the text messages back and forth and the names they had for each other. Their banter was great and I enjoyed the real/deep conversations they had. Both characters had past trauma but were able to grow and help each other. This book did have some spice but can be easily skipped over without missing the details of the story. Overall, I really enjoyed it!

This book will publish on June 10, 2025. Thanks to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for my advanced readers copy. This is my honest and voluntary opinion.

This is fun and lighthearted read about how one coincidental text could bring true love who were fated to be together. Axe Murderer and Bird Girl.were meant to be! Although it was blatantly obvious that it was Gabe and Emmy given the texts that described situations that they both found themselves, Emmy took a leap.of faith when inviting him to Poker's wedding in Mexico. This was a choice that she never regretted even when asked to choose between him and the job in baseball. As Alice correctly stated, you can have both. The ending was perfect.

Gosh I loved this one! It was a cute baseball romance, but the characters also had a lot of depth to them. Working in a male dominated industry, it was relatable to see all of the challenges Emmy faced. I loved that she had a supportive manager, and ultimately, supportive coworkers (even when she wasn't really sure about them). I also liked that Gabe had his own stuff going on, and that their pasts brought them closer together. And my favorite was all the bird puns, I couldn't stop cracking up.

My first read from this author, but I am looking forward to more.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC.
