I absolutely devoured Last Night Was Fun in ONE DAY, and it was an absolute DELIGHT that got me out of a reading slump.
A smart & quick-witted female data analyst, ALL of the best tropes (fake dating a coworker? work rivals to lovers?), plus BASEBALL!? This book was my perfect rom com, and it had me giddy kicking my feet with the banter. No notes (except I'm hoping and praying for a Pedro-Beth follow up story).
Thank you, NetGalley & Avon and Harper Voyager, for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I really enjoyed this one!! There were definitely moments where you could see The Hatimg Game through the plot, but there was enough of a difference that it was still its own book. Such a fun rom com!

“I would trade anything to have a shot at being with you.”
Last Night Was Fun is an absolute delight! I enjoyed every moment of this You’ve Got Mail x The Hating Game x splash of tropical paradise mashup!

A Data Analyst protagonist? Count me in!
Emmy is a data analyst for her favorite baseball team, vying for a promotion with her nemesis. When she gets a wrong number text one night and the two hit it off, she has no idea it’s actually her competitor.
This was so fun and I blew through it. I love Holly James’s quick writing and banter with these two great characters! I loved the side characters just as much—they always set the book even more ahead!
Thanks to @netgalley for this ARC!

This was such a fun read! It had all the classic rom-com tropes, and I loved the witty banter between Gabe and Emmy, both online and in person. Thanks for the opportunity!

Last Night Was Fun by Holly Michelle is a delightful romantic comedy that captivates readers from start to finish. Set against the backdrop of a competitive office environment, this novel follows two bitter rivals, Emmy Jameson and Gabe Olson, vying for the same position, their animosity gradually transforming into something much more intriguing.
Holly Michelle's writing style is superb, effortlessly drawing readers into the story and making it nearly impossible to put the book down. The author's wit shines through in the clever dialogue and hilarious scenes, which are vividly described and bring the characters to life.
The chemistry between the main characters is electric, their banter sharp and entertaining. As their relationship evolves, readers are treated to a masterful portrayal of the enemies-to-lovers trope. The supporting characters are equally well-crafted, adding depth and humor to the narrative.
What sets this novel apart is its perfect blend of humor, romance, and character development. The protagonists' journey from bitter rivals to potential lovers is both believable and engaging, keeping readers invested in their story until the very last page.

When one text changes everything...
When Emmy gets a text from a random number that says, "Hey. Last night was fun 🤩 " she decides to text back. Who knew that her new texting buddy, Axe Murderer, would end up being her work nemesis, Gabe.

Cute read that really connects you to the fmc. I kept finding myself saying "can't you see it's him???!!!". You will fall in love with the mmc. Gabe in Mexico... swoon.
Trigger warning: loss of relative to drug overdose

Last Night Was Fun by Holly Michelle kicks off with a wrong-number text meet-cute, and I have to say—I really enjoyed it. The banter is playful, the flirting is effortless, and watching their feelings develop through their texts made for such a fun read.
It’s a light, easy romance that keeps you entertained from start to finish. The tension builds beautifully as they decide to meet, adding just the right amount of anticipation. I loved how everything came together, making it a truly enjoyable story.

Such a cute rom com! It had me smiling from beginning to end. I am a sucker for letter writing and the text exchanges in this book gave me everything I needed. While this book was predictable, it had enough smaller surprises to throughly enjoy! Thank you for the ARC!

I loved this book!! Sure, the fake number that just happened to belong to her rival co-worker is a bit unrealistic. But if you don't focus on details like that, this is a really cute enemies to lovers book filled with tons of witty banter! I read it in one night - I just couldn't put it down! I would highly recommend this fun book to any from com lover who needs a fun escape book.

Oh my goodness this book was cute. I love a good office romance and I especially love it when they are "enemies". There was more to Gabe than Emmy realized and when she finally found out who she was talking to it was hard to merge the two, especially at her sisters wedding abroad, but there was no doubt in my mind that Gabe was all in from the get go. There was lots of tension and banter and that is what I love in my romance so this was a win for me!
Thanks to Avon, Netgalley and Holly Michelle for an early copy.

I did not anticipate being as delighted by this as I was! A true romantic comedy. Fans of You’ve Got Mail & Fever Pitch will love this.
I love that the hidden identity/epistolary elements are handled without the added element of deceit. Gabe and Emmy were so sweet and I thought their chemistry felt really natural. The added depth of their backstories made them feel more real.
The side characters are delightful as well!

A very cute story! I was really happy they found out who they were really texting at the same time and it was so sweet that they could be themselves via text since they were both putting up facades at work. Overall really enjoyed it!

Thank you to NetGalley & Avon and Harper Voyager for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Tell me a book involves rivals unknowingly communicating (phone calls, letters, emails or texts) and then falling in love and I'm IN! I've loved the back and forth since I saw 'Pillow Talk' with Doris Day and Rock Hudson as a kid. Don't know that reference? Think 'You've Got Mail.' It's a top tier trope!
Last Night Was Fun starts with a wrong number text and hooked me from the start. The story of Emmy and Gabe is told completely from Emmy's POV. Usually I prefer a dual POV, but Holly Michelle tells this story so well that I didn't miss it. This was my first book by her and her writing style gave me Emily Henry vibes, which I loved!
This story has great banter, entertaining side characters, MLB baseball, excellent spice, makes boat shoes sexy (how?!) and the most well placed 'Pretty Woman' quote I've ever seen! It was the sweet, swoony read I needed right now. Five stars!

Emmy Jameson works as a data analyst in the baseball industry, a field that’s close to her heart but male-dominated. She has struggled to find the balance between her work life and personal life and has been forced to choose between the two in the past.
Now Emmy is up for a well-deserved promotion. The problem? Gabe Olsen, her work place rival is also gunning for the promotion.
One night, Emmy gets a text “Last night was fun 😊” from an unknown sender. A text meant for someone else turns into a fun conversation with the unknown sender. With the anonymity of having never met, Emmy and her unknown sender find themselves able to connect and open up to each other about things they often have a hard time discussing.
When they finally meet, she finds out the mystery man is Gabe! What are the odds? I mean, surely, Emmy or Gabe could probably calculate them!
Now Emmy must decide if she can reconcile her feelings for her unknown texter with the man she’s been rivals with for years.
The banter between “Bird Girl” and “Axe Murderer” was amusing and entertaining. Fans of Holly James/Michelle will also find an Easter egg to her previous work. Last Night Was Fun was a great, light-hearted read and I would definitely recommend it to others. This book is set to be released on June 10, 2025.
Thank you Avon and NetGalley for the advanced copy!

Thank you NetGalley, Holly Michelle, Avon and Harper Voyager for the ARC!
This was a cute enemy to lovers/secret identity romance that I couldn't get enough of! Emmy Jameson faces an uphill battle in the work of baseball data analyst in a "boy's club" environment. She is up for a promotion she deserves, but the other candidate is an equally talented ex-college baseball player named Gabe Olsen who is always taking her opportunities from her. For once she wants to come out victorious! One night, she randomly receives a text from an unknown number with the message "last night was fun :)" after letting the other person know that they have been given the wrong number, the pair strike up a conversation full of banter and witty comebacks. As the days pass, Emmy opens up to the mystery man about her life and begins developing feelings. They agree to meet up after Emmy is pressured by her sister to invite the mystery man to her sister's Cancun wedding. When mystery man turns out to be Gabe Olsen, Emmy must figure out if she trusts her feelings for mystery man to give Gabe a chance.
I loved the texts convos between Axe Murderer and Bird Girl so much! This book was a light easy read that had you rooting for the couple to succeed! I would definitely recommend this book to others!

Just finished Last Night Was Fun by Holly Michelle, and it was an absolute delight! This book perfectly captures the magic of spontaneous nights, unexpected connections, and the kind of laughter that stays with you long after the moment has passed.
The characters are so vibrant and relatable—it felt like I was right there with them, experiencing every hilarious mishap and heartfelt moment. Holly Michelle’s writing is witty, charming, and full of life, making it impossible to put this book down.
If you’re looking for a feel-good read that will leave you smiling and maybe even reminiscing about your own unforgettable nights, this is it. Highly recommend for anyone in need of a fun, heartwarming escape!

Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager and Holly Michelle for this ARC in exchange for my honest review! I absolutely DEVOURED this book! I sat down and read it in one day, which I typically don’t do, but I just wanted to keep reading to see how their story was going to unfold. The tension was CHEFS KISS. I completely fell in love with Gabe and Emmy and their relationship! There were so many points while reading where I was giggling and kicking my feet because of their banter OMG! I also really enjoyed the work place aspect to this book as well, and the tension that brought into their relationship. I definitely need to read more of Holly Michelle’s work!!!!

First book by this author, I loved everything about it. It was humorous and just a fun story. Definitely recommend for a fun read.

I actually received physical copy of this in a Bookstagram giveaway after requesting it on NetGalley and read it immediately upon receipt.
Last Night Was Fun was an amazing, can't put down, read that I devoured in one sitting.
I love reading books by Holly James/Michelle as her characters are always well developed and Emmy & Gabe were no exception.
I really loved the You've Got Mail/Hating Game vibes and while a few plot points were predictable, they were well executed.
I also loved the easter egg reference to a previous Holly James work.
I can't recommend this enough.
