This was my first book by Erica Vetsch, though I read her novella in the Joy to the World anthology a couple years ago and enjoyed it very much. This book was the perfect blend of historical fiction and a thrilling mystery. I had an idea of who the criminal might be about halfway through the book, but the author put in some excellent red herrings to keep me guessing. I literally gasped aloud at the unexpected twist towards the end, and tears filled my eyes more than once. I appreciated the gentleness of Sir Bertram towards Philippa and her cause, and I grew to love the other characters as well, save the villain and a few odious people. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys inspirational historical fiction with a mysterious twist, and I will be going back to read the author's other books.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this book for the author and publisher. A positive review was not required, and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
