Sweet small town romance, with some depth. A great addition to an excellent series. An author who in later publications has really honed her craft but you can see the solid foundations in these earlier works. Definitely worth a read!

This is 300+ pages of awesomeness. I knew the story would be good, being vaguely familiar with the author and enjoying her books in the past, but it is much better than I expected. There are dozens of fabulous lines and narrowing down my favourite is impossible as I was literally laughing out loud at times.
The synopsis was not the whole focus, but more like a starting point from which the story sprang. While the plotline of trying to find a date to your ex-fiancé’s wedding is a great hook, this book became much more as it took us through the wedding and the weeks beyond. It really does make you feel like a part of the main characters’ lives, a part of the community.
This pair had a vague interest in each other for some time but never acted on it, and their interaction over the years helps prevent that insta-love commonly found in YA, NA, and novellas. I cannot say how quickly these two convert from fake-dating to engaged, because I completely lost track of the timeline due to pure enjoyment of reading this book. Neither character is perfect, but they tend to bring out the good in one another and watch over each other. Emmaline and Jack are just such good people in general that they felt like the perfect fit. By being a part of their everyday lives a reader just feels that much more invested in the outcome of their romantic relationship.
This is a wonderful book by a wonderful author. Honestly, the book is good and I would wager the others set around Blue Heron are just as well-developed as this one.

Anice read. Felt more like a movie than a book and that was actually good considering it didn't feel like a slog at all. If you like chick-lit movies then this book would serve you right.
