Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book!
An interesting collection of short stories. While the ideas were fun and worth the read, the writing wasn't quite there. I wasn't able to connect with any of the characters when we didn't even get to know them. Each story came down to "tell, not show," and each page was a repeat of "They did this. They saw this. They then did this. Then this happened." For example, in the first story, rather than detailing the van's route, we should have gotten Lauren's feelings about this supposed meeting with her father or her "obsession" (according to the synopsis) with the digital world. Was she nervous about the stranger beside her? Did she even consider she was being kidnapped?
We didn't get the chance to enjoy the characters or even experience their emotions when the writing was too busy over-explaining everyone's movements.
