I was expecting a different book based on the cover. Cover and title gives urban fiction or maybe an action packed crime drama, but it was not that.
This story follows 3 well bred privileged sisters into their families web of lies and secrets. We follow them as they attempt to uncover buried secrets lies and betrayal that will shake the very core of their family. I began to wonder if they are smart enough to figure it out before it’s too late. We follow them as the sister bond is tested, and as the rabbit hole gets deeper. I thought I had it figured out… I was close but the was differently a turn I didn’t see them taking. The story telling was a slow incline but that peak was steep! I was a little lost in the beginning trying to figure out where the story was going and getting a grasp of the relationship in this family and the men they were surrounded by. The story does grab you and you become obsessed with the connecting the pieces and I enjoyed that aspect.

A Thrilling Ride with a Few Bumps Along the Way

⭐⭐⭐.75

Briann Danae’s Jack Girlz Atlanta immediately piqued my interest—not just because of its intriguing plot but also because Danae’s pen game is always strong. This book took a different direction from what I’m used to from her, and while I appreciate the bold storytelling, I found myself wishing I loved it more than I did.

The suspense was gripping, and I was fully invested in unraveling the mystery surrounding the Grant family. What was really going on, and why was their past coming back to haunt them? The twists kept me turning the pages, but I couldn’t shake the feeling that the pacing was a bit uneven. The multiple timelines and shifting POVs within the same chapter sometimes made it feel chaotic rather than immersive.

Character development, one of Danae’s usual strengths, felt a bit underwhelming here. I wanted to connect more deeply with the characters, but we didn’t get enough time to truly understand them. There were also storylines that could have been further explored to enhance the tension and make the big reveal more impactful. When the truth finally came out, it felt rushed and didn’t land with the intensity I was hoping for.

Despite these hiccups, Jack Girlz Atlanta was an engaging read, and I’m excited to see how Danae continues to evolve as a writer. If you enjoy suspense with plenty of drama, this one is still worth checking out!

BriAnn Danae continues to draw her readers in with her captivating storylines. From the beginning of the book I was intrigued with what was coming next. The way the storyline unfolded more and more each chapter made for a good read. I admired how through everything, the Grant sisters never folded on each other. Mia, Hazel, and Teyona continued to show up for each other even as they were going through their own personal woes of life. Their parents dark past suddenly beginning to come to the light is shaking up the sisters’ world, leaving them to question whether their parents are who they always thought they were. Especially their mother. The Grants are a great example of how “the perfect family” holds the darkest secrets. If you like some thriller/suspense, family secrets, sibling bonds, and multiple pov, I would recommend.

Baby, this book kept me so entertained the entire time! You really can’t go wrong with a briann Danae book especially when it comes to a family dynamic

What’s done in the dark will eventually come to the light. Something that started off as a quick get up lasted longer than the girls expected. While trying to keep their own secrets of the deception hidden, the girls begin to learn about some family secrets that they were unaware about. They being searching for answers and learn the people they thought they could trust they couldn’t. This was a crazy ride and I will say I was pleased with the ending.

Jack Girlz Alanta by Briann Danae is a romantic suspense that follows sisters Hazel, Teyona, and Mia as they navigate the consequences of their father's troubled past. As the sisters uncover long-buried family secrets, they are thrust into a world of danger and intrigue, making for an engaging mystery. I was hooked from page one, and I appreciated the unique Black family background centered around a unique economic background involving a pharmaceutical empire.
I loved the sisterhood and bon within the sister group, despite their own personal challenges they always stuck by each other no matter what and that is true sisterhood. My favorite sister was Hazel, it was as if she was the black sheep of the family because she went against conformity and stood her ground on being her own unique self and I loved that for her
The suspense in this book was thick as fog from beginning to end and I was waiting for more action overall. The ending came abruptly and I felt like there should have been more.
Overall, while I thoroughly enjoyed the suspense and the portrayal of strong female leads, the rushed elements made me lack full enjoyment but I had high hopes going into this read. It’s definitely different from the authors previous works.
3 star rating and I would recommend. Thank You to Black Odyssey Media via Netgalley for providing me with an ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

This was an interesting story that had me guessing throughout, trying to figure out who was behind everything happening to these sisters. I guessed a few things correctly, and a couple of others surprised me.

In this story, we follow 3 sisters as their world begins to unravel because of the secrets of their parents. Mia is the medical career sister who's also afraid to speak up for herself and does whatever their insufferable father wants, choosing to view him through rose colored lenses. Hazel is the artistic sister who sees their father for exactly who he is and takes no shit. She's determined to make her own way in the world and be the black sheep while loving her mother fiercely. Teyona is the baby of the bunch and is unfortunately stuck constantly seeking validation from their emotionally unavailable father.

Once trouble comes looking for them in separate ways, these sisters much figure out how to stop holding on to secrets and work together to save their family. While I enjoyed the twists and turns, I wish some of the timelines had been made a bit clearer. I liked the multiple pov chapters, but sometimes it felt a bit muddled as the povs would change in the middle of some of the chapters/ paragraphs, and this had the effect of disorientation Also, getting the povs of some of the main characters did help to explain some of their feelings and motivations, but they never truly felt like fully realized people. I would have loved to know more about Hazel's boyfriend and his handling of the blackmail.

Sisters…

In this story we get introduced to Mia, Hazel and Teyona who are sisters with a lot going on in their lives. As members of the Grant family, they each play a position based on their surroundings and circumstances. There were a lot of plot points introduced as the story progressed. And while I was drawn in by each breadcrumb sprinkled throughout the story, I believe there were storylines that could have been explored further for a more complete picture overall. 3.5 stars from this reader!

Thank you NetGalley, publisher Black Odyssey Media and author BriAnn Danae for an advance reader’s copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

This was a 3.5 for me.

I requested this book because the synopsis sounded interesting; however, I felt the delivery did not hold up to the intensity of what I was expecting. There were a lot of different storylines that were portrayed throughout the book one being the corporate scheming, another being secrets that the parents had from the past that were coming back to haunt the girls as adults and even somewhat of a love story.

Since there were so many things that were brought up in the book, they each had their own buildup but for me I felt sometimes it dragged and didn't quite flow as easily as I would have liked. The suspense was there but when we find out the motives behind some of the actions that were taking place, to me, I felt like it fell a little flat compared to the buildup that it took to get there. I was happy that the father got what he deserved with how he was acting throughout the book, but there were loose ends with the body situation and the blackmail that was going on.

Additionally, there were moments brought up in the book regarding the personal and professional lives of Hazel and Teyona that I would have liked to see more of because why mention if it it wasn't going to be expanded on. Overall, the book was okay but I think it had too much going on to fully close each loop within the book. Thank you to Black Odyssey Media and Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Briann Danae's Jack Girlz Atlanta is an engaging, medium-paced narrative that delves into the lives of a group of young women navigating the complexities of relationships, ambition, and identity in the vibrant backdrop of Atlanta. The book explores the world of "jack girls" — women who are both tough and vulnerable, embodying a blend of resilience, street smarts, and emotional depth.

The story is centered around a group of women who find themselves in various challenging situations, both personal and professional. Danae’s writing style is raw and unapologetic, effectively capturing the struggles of these women as they balance their dreams, fears, and the pressures of their environment. Through sharp dialogue and vivid descriptions, Danae paints a picture of a world where survival often means making tough decisions, and where the line between right and wrong is frequently blurred.

One of the book's strengths is its exploration of sisterhood and solidarity. The characters’ relationships with one another are complex and multifaceted, showcasing both moments of fierce loyalty and moments of betrayal. This dynamic makes the story emotionally compelling, as the characters evolve in response to both internal and external conflicts.

While the narrative is engrossing, some readers may find the portrayal of certain characters and situations to be overly dramatic or a bit predictable at times. However, this doesn’t take away from the overall enjoyment of the book, as Danae's ability to keep the story moving and the stakes high keeps readers engaged.

In conclusion, Jack Girlz Atlanta is a powerful, gritty, and emotional ride through a world where survival often comes at a cost. Briann Danae's ability to create complex, relatable characters and set them against the backdrop of a vibrant city makes for a compelling read. This book will appeal to readers who enjoy stories of empowerment, resilience, and the complexities of navigating life in the modern world.

From the beginning this book had me shook, because why is the dad pushing the mom down the stairs while the children watch in horror?! NOW THAT'S THE LAST SPOILER YOU WILL GET OUT OF ME! GO READ THIS WELL WRITTEN BOOK BY ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING AUTHORS ON THE PLANET. This story has everything, suspense, a mystery, spice, and drama.

Whew!

Briann did an amazing job on this book, she never disappoints!

Matthew and Kimberly had 2 daughters, Mia and Hazel which Mia being oldest, they both witnessed an argument between their parents which lead to Kimberly falling down the stairs and becoming ill. That fall lead to Hazel resenting her father and her father despised Hazel, why?

So many secrets, lies, blackmail, foolery, and shenanigans throughout this story, the girls found their mother's journal and all the secrets started to unravel as one of the girls found out Matthew wasn't her daddy and both parents had affairs. Talk about what you do in the dark comes to the light and Karma is a ____ Matthew days were numbered!

This was a like a mystery story to me, those girls showed Matthew how to the play the game and his entire life came crashing down right before his eyes.

The story was well written, it kept me on edge and the ending did not disappoint!

Thank you Netgalley for such an amazing book in exchange for my honest review!

BriAnn Danae's "Jack Girlz Atlanta" delivers where many urban novels fall short—authentic characters navigating Atlanta's unforgiving streets without the usual glamorization.
Kiana's journey through the ATL hustle feels grounded in reality. She's smart but makes mistakes. Loyal but protective of her own interests. The relationships between the women show real complexity—trust issues, jealousy, and genuine bonds forged through shared struggles.
What impressed me most was how Danae captures the day-to-day grind. These aren't just shootouts and dramatic showdowns—it's the anxiety of close calls, the tedium of watching corners, the small victories that keep you going. When tensions rise between Kiana and her former mentor Zaria, the conflict builds naturally from their circumstances rather than manufactured drama.
The Atlanta setting feels lived-in rather than tourist-brochure familiar. Danae writes about specific neighborhoods, local spots, and regional slang with the confidence of someone who knows this world firsthand.
This novel doesn't shy away from consequences either. Characters face real fallout from their choices—legal troubles, broken relationships, and the constant psychological toll of the life.

"Jack Girlz Atlanta" stands out as a thoughtful, genuine addition to urban fiction. Recommended for readers who appreciate street lit that keeps it real.

(( 3.5 ))
This book kept me interested throughout until the ending. I think the ending was rushed & even with the reveals, they could have been rolled out more dramatically. Overall, I still had a good time.

Family or everything …..even murder? …. BriAnn Danae gives us a story of 3 sisters who have indoored trauma and secrets their whole lives. As secrets and lies unravel, the bound between them is tested and what they thought they knew ….and who they thought they knew is revealed to be anything but.

I will say this different than what I usually read from BriAnn but I enjoyed it and I hope she writes more like this. I was locked in and engaged and stressed haha.

I enjoyed the storyline so much but I felt like there were parts of the story that fell short for me. Parts that I wanted more from but overall I enjoyed it enough to keep reading.

I love BriAnn dowwwwn. But this wasn’t a favorite for me. It didn’t feel like a normal BriAnn book coming from an avid reader of hers. Something was missing.

This book follows sisters Hazel, Teyona, and Mia as they face the consequences of their father’s past, uncovering long-buried secrets and confronting danger together. The mystery and thriller elements were engaging, keeping me invested in solving the case, and I loved the Black family background in pharmaceuticals. The dynamic between the sisters, despite their complicated relationship with their father, was a PLUS—Hazel stood out as my favorite because of her independence and refusal to seek his approval. LOVE THAT FOR HER!

Additionally, the ending felt rushed, and the minor characters lacked development, making them somewhat forgettable.

Overall, while I enjoyed the suspense and strong female leads, a few missing elements—such as better timeline organization and deeper character exploration—kept this from being a favorite.

Thanks NetGalley and Black Odyssey Media for this ARC!
