Book: The Doll’s House
Author: Natasha Boydell
Publisher: Boldwood Books
Pub Date: January 13, 2025

I was very pleasantly surprised with how much I liked this book. The whole time I’m reading it I’m thinking this is giving Single White Female vibes. While this is somewhat predictable the writing is excellent and you won’t want to put it down. I was so mad and frustrated for Naomi. It will definitely leave you feeling anxious but in a good way. Is that a good thing? It is when it isn’t your anxiety. It was fast paced and it was twist after twist after twist. I really enjoy the stalker trope so maybe that’s why I loved this so much.

Thank you Boldwood Books and NetGalley for this sneak peak! Publication date is January 13, 2025.

I really enjoyed this book which I received via Netgalley courtesy of them, the author and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Naomi and her family have lived in their flat happily for some time but they need something larger and are selling to move on to a family home. Summer and her daughter buy the flat and by coincidence Summer has a daughter the age of Naomi’s youngest and they meet at school. Almost immediately dark things start to happen, not only does Naomi become the target but her daughter does also. Lives are changed and opinions altered and doubts are cast on who is telling the truth.

It is a very interesting read and one which escalates quickly to some very dark events. The writing is good and the characters have great depth and believability. I wondered why Summer was acting the way she was and the author ties that up so well at the reveal, I couldn’t wait to get to the ending to see how it would unfurl. Highly recommended to those who enjoy a twisty thriller.

The Doll's House is a stalker thriller. Naomi and her family just sold their flat for their dream house. Summer, the buyer of the flat, suddenly is everywhere Naomi is - enrolled her daughter in the same school as Naomi's daughter, in her parent friend group, and even showing up at her new home when she didn't give Summer the address. Naomi feels she is being watched and things are going missing from her home. Who is Summer and why is she inserting herself into Naomi's life so aggressively?

The first half of this book was a little on the slow side for me, it seemed a little repetitive, but it did keep me reading. But the second half had me hooked! Great twists and a good read for those who like stalker thrillers.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for ARC copy for review.

As Naomi sits in a prison cell, she recounts how everything went wrong in the past year. As Naomi and her husband finally sell their flat to move into their new home, it seems as if everything is perfect until she realizes same person that bought her flat is now stalking and trying to become her. With Summer invading essentially every part of Naomi's life, can Naomi figure out why and get her old life back?
I really enjoyed this thriller/mystery. It was an easy read but I felt myself wanting to DNF in the first half because it got too slow for me. The ending was a nice twist. Thank you NetGalley for the book.

I got this book from NetGalley & it was on my shelf so I thought I’d open it just to see how it reads on the first page, like I do with most NetGalley books … well from that first page I could not put it down!

What a gripping psychological thriller this book is! It was such an addictive read & I just wanted to scream at the book, at all the people that wouldn’t believe Naomi about what was going on, but then I was also seconding guessing myself about whether Naomi was actually going crazy & Summer wasn’t doing anything wrong!

It was so full of suspense that you just had to keep turning those pages! The characters were well defined & the plot full of intrigue.
It was such a wonderful twisty read & if you’re a fan of thrillers I know this is a book for you.

It was my first Natasha Boydell but it definitely isn’t my last!

Naomi desperately wants to shift and hence when she gets a buyer for her house, she decides to sell without finding out much of the person. That's when problems for Naomi start.

The buyer Summer starts interfering in her life with such subtlety that everyone starts doubting Naomi. I loved Naomi's pov. You could feel her frustration and desperation as she tries to prove that it's all not in her head. The author did a brilliant job by mixing domesticity with lunacy. The prologue throws you off the game at the start. Every single character is well written and I can relate to how people can fall prey to manipulation. We see quite a lot of them in real life.

I do think that the book could have been shorter and that certain plot lines could have been avoided. Everything worked for me except the resolution. It felt a bit far fetched and hallmark - ish.

Overall I would highly recommend this book and the additional star is for the chillin epilogue.

I thank NetGalley and Boldwood books for this E-Arc and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Thank you Netgalley, Boldwood Books and Natasha Boydell for this eArc of The Doll's House.

I've read a few of Natasha Boydell's books in the past and have really enjoyed her writing style and pacing of her books.

The Doll's House is a medium paced psychological thriller building into a faster pace as the narrative moved forward. Naomi, our main character who after selling her apartment as her family needs more space. Summer, who ends up in the apartment very quickly becomes close to Naomi, a little too close! Soon, Naomi notices 2 sides to Summer and her seemingly quiet daughter.

This book was so engaging and kept the flow and pace really well throughout the book. You have an idea of where it's going, but what does Summer really want with Naomi? The narrative definitely keeps you guessing. It's full of twists, manipulation and gaslighting. It made me doubt myself! I found the end result really satisfying.

4 .25 stars for story graph and rounded to 4 stars for other sites.

The Doll's House by Natasha Boydell is crammed with wonderful suspense and tension. Creepy anxiety crept in and I was instantly immersed in another world, one so electrically charged it sizzled. A thunderstorm could have been raging all around and I wouldn't have noticed. As a rabid thriller reader, this level of engagement is what I long for. A cracking good book.

Naomi and Oliver and their two young daughters, Bella and Freya, leave their beloved home they have grown out of into another larger one. It didn't seem that their house would sell until Summer showed serious interest and insisted on living there with her young daughter, Luna. A bit later, both families had moved. As the two women hit it off, Naomi recommended her girls' school to Summer who took her daughter there. Soon odd events began happening, things going missing here and there, a disturbing doll house, bullying and cliques at the girls' school and Summer dressing like Naomi. For some, Summer could do no wrong. Naomi's friends began deserting her, making her question her own sanity. Did they make the wrong decision in moving? It was one thing for adult women to cause angst but quite another when their daughters were involved. When things reached a breaking point, I felt the raw emotions and tension which hung like a thick and smothering blanket.

If you enjoy a disarming thriller you can zip through while feasting on the words, make it this one. Gorgeously written and wonderfully thought out.

My sincere thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for providing me with an early digital copy of this enticing novel.

The Dolls House by Natasha Boydell did not disappoint with the suspense in her latest novel. Psychological thrillers is my jam, I love this genre and have read many books in this category, because of that it has become harder for me to really get the impact of the thrill and excitement. That was not the case with this book.
This book gave me anxiety! But I am not complaining.

Besides giving me anxiety (in a good bookish way) this book was very fast paced. From the second chapter on it was full speed ahead, continuous action and no slowing down and no boring lulls.
Make sure you have a few hours to yourself to read because you will not be able to put the book down.

Naomi and her husband are selling their little house and upgrading to a bigger house now that they have children.
Summer is our crazy psycho lady that bought Naomi's old house. Summer doesn't waste time becoming the new Naomi. Summer enrolls her daughter into the same class as Naomi's daughter Freya is in. Then she shows up uninvited to the mom's group night out with her blond hair now the exact same brown color and style as Naomi. She becomes the center of attention and Naomi is pushed to the side. To make matters worse, Naomi's best friend in the group of moms now becomes Summers best friend and she takes Summers side when Naomi confides in her that Summer is stalking her and becoming her. The mom group doesn't take what Naomi seriously as they are all under Summers "spell" they tell Naomi that she is being crazy and don't believe her until.......

You will have to read the book to find out!
It will be worth it

Naomi and her family have just bought a new house. The woman who bought their old house shows up on her doorstep one day and this tale begins. Summer, the woman who bought their old house begins to form a friendship with Naomi but starts to emulate her, she gets the same hairstyle and color and even buys a dress that matches one of hers. Then Summer begins to try to take over Naomi's life, steals her friends and even breaks into her home to steal some of her things.
As twisted as this seems things shockingly get worse and there are more than a couple of twists and revelations to come.
Who is Summer and why is she so drawn to Naomi?
I gasped several times reading this book. I loved the back to back twists near the end. What a ride!!

This one was creepy! I can’t imagine someone entering my life and causing complete havoc, turning all my friends against me, and making me seem crazy! Enjoyed this, but sure hope I can sleep tonight!

When Naomi sells her flat to Summer, she thinks that Summer is nice and maybe they’ll keep in touch since their daughters go to the same school. Soon though, Summer starts to dress like Naomi and copy her haircut. The daughters are caught up in a schoolyard bullying situation, and before Naomi knows what’s going on, Summer has turned everyone against Naomi and her daughter. This novel of apparent stalking and imitation is definitely anxiety inducing. Readers will feel on edge when Naomi describes what Summer is doing to her. Readers will also feel outraged with how quickly Naomi’s friends turn against her. But then, readers may feel outraged again when everything is tied up with a bow and the friends are forgiven with very little explanation. So, this book makes readers feel, but not in a good way. The pacing of the novel is horrible. Readers feel anxious with Naomi for the first 80% of the book, and then the reveal occurs and the book races to a finish line that wasn’t at all satisfying. The author tried to introduce a new conflict at the end of the epilogue, but even that just felt sort of obvious and disappointing. This book had potential, but the pacing may be the reason to skip out on this one.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this title from NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Description:
She lives in my old home. She looks like me. She dresses like me… And now she wants my life.

Naomi is devastated when the sale of her apartment falls through, jeopardizing her family’s move to their dream ‘forever home.’ But things take a hopeful turn when Summer, a sweet and single mother, steps in to buy Naomi’s old apartment.

At first, Summer seems like a savior, but soon she starts showing up uninvited. She enrolls her child in Naomi’s daughter’s class, befriends Naomi’s friends, and even begins dressing like her. The situation becomes even more chilling when Naomi discovers a doll’s house that is an exact replica of her new home.

Naomi tries to convince herself she’s imagining things, but it becomes clear Summer’s intentions go far beyond admiration. What does she really want? And how far will she go to take over Naomi’s life?

My Thoughts:
This book is gripping, unsettling, and filled with twists that left me reeling. From the very first chapter, I was hooked. Natasha Boydell has done an incredible job of creating a tense atmosphere that keeps you on edge throughout.

I felt deeply immersed in Naomi’s emotions—her frustration, anger, and fear were palpable, and I couldn’t help but put myself in her shoes. Summer, as the antagonist, is terrifyingly manipulative and gave me chills. The twists were brilliant and completely unpredictable, constantly overturning my theories about where the story was heading.

That said, the pacing did falter toward the end. The final chapters felt slightly dragged, which took away some of the intensity and made it a bit frustrating to finish. Despite this, the overall narrative was captivating, and the characters, especially Naomi, Freya, Bella, and Angela, were memorable and well-developed.

This is a thrilling read for fans of psychological suspense, offering an engaging story of obsession and deceit. I highly recommend this book!!

Intriguing, twisted, and tense, The Doll's House delivers the chills when one woman begins to insert herself into the life of another. Naomi was thrilled when Summer bought her home so that she and her family could move into a bigger home with a garden. Summer was as sweet and mysterious as her perfume. Things could not be better until Summer showed up at Naomi's new home, became friends with Naomi's friends, and even started dressing like Naomi. Throw in a doll's house and well, you have yourself a creepy, twist filled book!

I enjoyed this one. It was entertaining, with an underlying vibe of creepiness and unease. I had many questions going through my mind while reading this, the main reason being why is Summer doing what she is doing? I didn't see the reveal coming and enjoyed the twists, turns, and unnerving sense that something wasn't quite right with one of the characters. This kept me on my toes and was an entertaining read.
