Margaret Walker really is a famous person that nobody knows. In these days of quarantine and renewed and increased interest in the Black Lives Matter movement, this book not only is inspiring but will also help raise questions about the white-washing of North American history.

It was interesting reading about this great woman, I must confess I didn’t know anything about, I found the style of the book a bit confusing because some of the quotes were very long and I wasn’t sure who was telling the story, so more often than not I had to go back and read from the beginning and try to follow up the story line.
The fact that the story telling jump from first person to third person made it a bit complicated for me and therefore took me a very long time to complete, but I was happy to learn about Margarete and her time.
