THE AUDIOBOOK WAS PHENOMENAL.
Daphne had her heart broken when Monty broke off their friendship with a few cruel words. One year later Daphne is still adjusting to life in her Seelie form. Her first attempt at entering seelie society left her with deep emotional scars. Now sheโs desperate to become an official illustrator at her job Fletcher-Wilsonโs. Sheโs working on illustrated covers for her friendโs upcoming releases but she canโt seem to correctly capture a human maleโs physique. Daphne decides she must find a human male to use for inspiration and to marry to save her from having to return to her unseelie hometown.
Monty is in a bind, heโs under a mountain of debt and struggle to protect his familyโs secrets. If he can just get a publishing deal for his column he will get a signing bonus he can use to tackle his debt. All he has to do is help a woman form a love connection with his advice and he will have the contract. Daphne seems like the perfect candidate if he can just keep his own feelings at bay.

I was not expecting to be so emotional while reading this story but I honestly couldnโt stop myself from crying over Daphneโs past and the weight Monty has been carrying for so long. At his heart heโs just a sad little boy and I just wanted to wrap him in a hug.

This was a slow burn romance which I felt really fit with Monty & Daphneโs budding relationship. She had so much to learn and he had so much stopping him from pursuing his feelings. When the mirror seen happen I freaking MELTED. ๐ซ โค๏ธโ๐ฅ๐ช

This audiobook was perfection. While I loved reading a Rivalry of Hearts listening to this one really brought it to the next level. The narratorโs were perfect for the characters. I absolutely LOVED Monty and Daffy before but getting to know them was *chefโs kiss*. I felt like the spice level was just right and didnโt impede the story which I love in a book. But also the plot twist/reveal. Tessonja Odette knows how to do romance right. Every time Monty said Daffy dear I literally swooned.

โญโญโญ.5/๐ถ๏ธ My Feral Romance by Tessonja Odette is book 2 in the Fae Flings and Corset Strings series of interconnected standalones. This book is really cute and giving regency romance vibes. Monty is a playboy who agrees to give courting lessons to Daphne, a fae desperate to get married so she can stay in the realm she chooses. But when the courting lessons start to feel too real, Daphne starts to question everything..

Revisiting Monty and Daphne is the absolute biggest joy! These two characters have such huge personalities that they shone in the first book and begged, no screamed to take center stage. The ever flirtatious Monty with his smooth talking and slick persona combined with shy, quiet Daphne (wait, did I say shy & quiet? I meant bold and ferocious Daphne) is the match of the century. So many scenes had me kicking and screaming in glee, other scenes taking me completely by shock, while others had had me burning. Somehow the animalistic nature of Monty and Daphne takes their intimacy to a whole new level. They are utterly adorable, and simultaneously hot as sin. The introduction of book sprite Araminta, in her innocence, provides an added comedic boost that I didnโt know I was missing. What truly made this story though is the character evolution, both Monty and Daphne go through such growth that draws you into their story. I truly feel a part of Faerwyvae, catching up with old friends. I canโt express how much fun I had listening to this story!
The audio performed by Dani Cochrane & Rusty Mewha was a joy to listen to. Both voices switch between characters seamlessly, making it easy to recognize characters shifts. They read with a wealth of emotion keeping you tuned in to all the feels.

This was a great follow-up in this series and was a lot of fun. There were some points where I thought it dragged a bit so I took off a star, however, it was all-around a great read and I thought the narrator did a good job.

Tessonja has done it again! I was delighted by book 1 but falling in love with Daphne and Monty felt as easy as breathing. Two years after the infamous Heartbeats Tour, these old friends have pursued different careers. Monty is writing his own "Dear Abby" advice column under a penname. Daphne is pursuing art and illustration, living in her human-like form instead of her unseelie Pine Marten body. When they each find themselves in need of peculiar help, they strike a bargain - Monty will serve as her art model and Daphne will let him coach her in dating for his book.
The narrators knocked it out of the park! Dani Cochrane brings a richer, ferocious voice to Daphne who struggles with the unspoken rules of polite society. She is anxious around strangers and puts on a delicate, pitched tone when dealing with the gentlemen she's meant to court. But at her core, Daphne is a ballsy, brash fae who loves bacon and will bite anyone who gets out of line.
Rusty Mewha from "The Off-Limits Rule" (Sarah Adams) voices Monty as a silver-tongued socialite. Though he is the Rake of our story, he isn't broody or silent. Monty is a master at keeping up appearances as he smoothy navigates high society while writing salacious articles for his column. The narrator captures this personality of floating above the mess, when Monty's life is actually in shambles.
The chemistry together is incredible as Daphne softens her heart while Monty is adamant that he will never marry. Readers will inevitably compare them to Simon & Daphne from Bridgerton, but there are core differences in their personalities. I thought it was a darling twist on the dynamic from Shrek, and I mean that with the highest compliments. This was an absolute gem!

Wow what an absolute joy it was get to listen some of my favorite character brought to life in their own book by Dani and Rusty! This audio was so fun and had me laughing out loud at the humor and kicking my feet at the swoony/steamy parts! I thoroughly enjoyed every second of listening! The TENSION, the SPICE, the STORYโ Tessonja really knows how to bring it as always!
I will definitely be recommending this 100% for forever. These characters have my whole heart!
Thank you so much to Tessonja Odette, Dreamscape Media for this ALC!

This was a highly anticipated read for me after reading A Rivalry of Hearts earlier this year. I absolutely adored Daphne & Monty then so I was excited for their book.
This was a really well done dual narration audiobook. It was slow burn and well worth the tension between these two! I loved the background we got from Monty and it made him more relatable and likable too!
I thoroughly enjoy this fantasy series and canโt wait to read about Araminta next!!i

The reviews for book one were so good that I went into this with high hopes. I struggled through 3 hours of this and just could NOT get into it. Perhaps if I would have listened to book 1 first? The narrators sounded like they were faking the accents and the male narratorโs female voices grated on me. I removed from my GoodReads shelf instead of rating because I felt like it must have just been me?

ALC Review: My Feral Romance by Tessonja Odette
Pub Date: December 10, 2024
This series by Tessonja is just so fun!! I had an absolute blast reading book one and book two was just as much of an enjoyable time. I listened to most of it in one evening because I just didn't want to stop!
I love the world and the characters and just feel like I could read an endless amount of books in this series. The relationship between Monty and Daphne is set up really well by book one and I loved seeing how their attraction and relationship progressed throughout book 2. It was sweet, spicy, and captivating!
I need more historical fantasy romances in my life!!
Thank you to Dreamscape Media for the ALC. All thoughts and opinions are my own and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Itโs been two years since the Heartbeats book tour that made up the central plot of A Rivalry of Hearts, and Daphne is now making her way in seelie form working towards her goal of becoming a full time illustrator for the publishing company she works for. A year ago, Monty callously ended their friendship when he was fired from that same company, but is back pitching a book based on the salacious newspaper column where he writes under a pseudonym and gives dating advice to women. Monty gets told his book needs more real life examples, and Daphne gets told the men she draws donโt look realistic enough, and so they decide to strike a bargain for him to be her model and she can be used for his matchmaking so she can find a husband (and permanent male model). The story moves along from there with other secrets revealed and new characters added, and without giving away any spoilers I am so curious to see how the next book goes given that second epilogue! Monty and Daphne truly have one of the most fun relationships Iโve read in a while, and are so well matched you root for them the entire time. I said in my A Rivalry of Hearts review that I wanted to read more Tessonja Odette, but now I think I need to make her books priority reads! I cannot wait for more in this series, and really hope it continues with the same narrators as they were fabulous in this!

While I know these are technically standalone novels in the same world, loved the characters of the first book so much that I was worried about the changing character perspectives still. I typically don't like when a series pivots away from who l become attached to as the main leads, but this did NOT disappoint! I think I may love Daphne and Monty even more than the leads of the first!
I cared about both the MMC and FMC as people, rooted for their success and happiness from the start, and was over the moon with how their story ended up. It was the perfect HEA. I just learned there will be a third installment, and I'm now filled with all excitement and no trepidation because I'm sure I will love those characters too. I look forward to the next story!
The audio was spectacular too. Iโm happy the same narrators as the first book worked on this one! Theyโre so charming and fun, and really bring the characters to life!

This was so cute and wholesome, I love that this was just like any ordinary romance but you add that bit of fae creatures involved and it was stepping into my favourite childhood book as a kid, minus the smut ๐
I loved Monty and Daphne, the narrator were absolutely brilliant, I found myself wanting be fictional character.
My only downside was that I really wanted Daphne to have her revenge on those who made fun of her and called her a monster but I suppose she did the right thing by just accepting herself for who she is, with Montyโs help.
And Iโll say Montyโs farther can go and have shove it for all I care because he is why women really on other women to right about fictional men who arenโt arseholes ๐
All and in all I loved this audiobook and I canโt wait to hear how Araminta gets herself out of that one ๐ง๐ผโโ๏ธ

This was a super fun book to listen to! I loved the narrators, the same ones for book 1 too! I was actually a teeny surprised about Monty and Daphneโs pairing, but it WORKS!
Monty is this in a big mess, and heโs trying his hardest to untangle his troubles, while Daphne pined for him and long to stay where sheโs lived her independent life! So they both end up helping each other.. and well then the chemistry and fun begins!

This was a really cute and lighthearted fantasy romance where the far are all some type of animal shifter. We get the story of friends to enemies? to friends again to lovers! It was a quick listen and kept me entertained. Recommend as a great palate cleanser!

This was such a DELIGHT to listen to! The perfect interconnected stand alone where the first book truly is only supplemental to the story of Monty and Daphne. I could not rave enough about the ration of plot to funny lightheartedness, because it was quite literlaly perfect. Despite the characters only being intimate together maybe twice on the page, the build up, the pining, the WANTING felt so much more addicting than mindless smut, and it was SO WELL DONE! I cannot wait to read Tessonja Odette's other works!

4 stars
I'm not a big fantasy reader, but I'm trying to read more of it to get more of a feel for it. I didn't realize this was Book 2 in a series, but it didn't hinder my understanding of the book at all. I do want to go back and look into Book 1 though. This was such a fun book!
The way Tessonja wrote this book was so beautiful and fun. A new-fantasy reader like myself had no problem keeping up with all the Fae stuff and the explanations were perfectly done to where I didn't feel talked down to or like I should've known what things were or anything. It was a great blend of Regency (also something I don't read) and fantasy. I for sure came for the romance, but I think I'll stay a while for the fantasy with this series.
Daphne is socially awkward and we get a little background as to why (assuming this was delved into more in book 1) and Monty puts on this facade so people don't realize just how good a guy he really is. They strike up a deal to help each other and cue the fireworks. Friend to lovers is also not my favorite trope, but it really worked here with these two. Daphne really just being kind of clueless about it all and slowly putting the pieces together about her and Monty's relationship and her feelings for him was fun to watch.
Araminta had me cackling and that little sprite deserves her own book.
Dani Cochrane and Rusty Mewha did such great jobs! First time listener for them both for me and I really enjoyed the way they brought all the characters to life!

Audiobook review: I was so excited to see this ALC on NetGalley after reviewing and loving the audiobook for A Rivalry of Hearts. Especially with the same narrators!
This one was great! I am loving this series! This is a perfect romcom with a sweet romance, some spice, a bit of magic, and lots of bacon! I love Daphne and Monty together and this one had some unexpected twists that really kept things interesting.
The narrators are both wonderful, I love having dual POVs and dual narrators. They both bring something special to the book and it's so enjoyable to listen to! Such a high quality audiobook too!
Thank you Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for the ALC!

I am often weirded out by the idea of non human creatures like fae, werewolves, and mer creatures banging humans. But here I am listening to this. I loved the first one and I love this one. I love the narration. The story is so sweet. Also I guess it is hot when you get passed my weird issues.

"You may be a fool, but you're my fool."
Oh my goodness! This book is incredible! We met Daphne and Monty in the first book, and I loved them then, but now I love them even more! Monty is such a rake, and I adore him! Daphne is shy and awkward and 100% relatable! Their banter is ๐ฅ I already want to start this book over again!
