I really wanted to like this book more than I did because the historical time period stood out to me --- and determined my immediate request.

But while the heroine was fascinating and her determination to see her past wrongs righted held the elements of a fast moving historical story, I found myself finding it hard to slog through the pages.
I wanted to fall in to the world, rather, I found myself carefully dipping a toe in.

But, an extremely interesting premise and a great historical rendering of a time period often ignored in historical fiction.

This was a good book, sorry not great. No matter what I feel something gets lost in translation. So wish I was able to read this in German. Would be interested in reading the second book in their series.
