If you’re into second chance romances with a mix of tension and sizzling chemistry, Roomhate is your next read! I went in expecting a fun enemies to lovers vibe, but what I got was so much more. The story is about Amelia and Justin, two people forced to share a house after being estranged for years. The tension between them is so real, and the author does an amazing job of making you feel every emotion. This book is a steamy, emotional ride with just the right balance of humor and romance. If you’re a sucker for a story about forgiveness and love finding its way back, you won’t be able to put this one down!

Justin and Amelia

Justin and Amelia were best friends growing up and spent a lot of time together, until they weren’t. Amelia’s grandma has passed and left her home to Justin and Amelia. But they haven’t seen each other in almost a decade, and really don’t want to. Amelia arrives at the beach house and Justin and his girlfriend arrive at the beach home. Let’s say, it was not a nice welcome. From the beginning, you know there is some hurt there, but don’t quite know why yet.

Then one evening, Justina and Amelia finally have time to discuss what happened 10 years ago. Amelia felt betrayed, as Justin kept something from her, but Justin was trying to protect her. Because of his past, he was blinded by Amelia leaving and it affected him his whole life. But one thing is for certain, it is obvious they have a lot of unresolved feelings.

To say I love PW books would be an understatement. Everything I have read has been so good. Overall, this books is no exception. Other than a few rude comments from Justin, I really did end up liking him and feeling sorry for him. I can understand some comments about Amelia..she jumps to conclusions, she’s quick to judge, and doesn’t want or bother to talk it out. Frustrating, yes! But, everyone likes something different and this one issue doesn’t warrant a terrible book..it’s the opportunity to grow, and she does. She is forced to grow up, as they both are, and they both realize what is truly important and what will make them happy.

Overall, I really did like this. Especially as the story moves on, Justin shows his feelings even if he doesn’t come right out and say them. The way he steps up later on is so sweet and swoony.

I wanted to love this but it was just okay for me. I wanted to love Justin because that is my spouse's name. But Justin was such a jerk at the beginning!!! I did not love his redemption arc unfortunately. I did like Amelia's character but as a public teacher, I know there is basically no way she could have afforded to take a year off of work and have enough money to survive lol. It was just okay for me :(
