(I received a free copy of this book from Net Galley in exchange for an honest review.)

A fun, horror-style zombie retelling of Alice in Wonderland. Alice is minding her younger sister when the Zombie apocalypse hits. She has to find safety but is thwarted at every turn - by a strange man and by two stoners. The world has gone mad and she doesn't know who to trust.

Well, that ended up as a bit of a train-wreck, didn't it?

Mash-ups can be really good if you allow the original material to breathe inside the newer material. They work if the new material is near the same quality of the original (I mean, this is Lewis Carroll so it was never going to be AS GOOD AS). They work when the prose and dialogue mash well together - especially if you are going to take straight from the source material...

I can see the intention - mash up the whimsical and the absurd of Alice with a bloody and gritty zombie apocalypse. Sounds like a great idea. Just didn't work at all.

And that is disappointing...

This title is very much up my street and I loved how the well known tale got twisted especially on that stand out cover!

This book was reviewed on my blog a very long time ago. Since then I have migrated to a new blogging home and this review is either hiding in my archives or somewhere in the ether. (Sad times)
