This was my first read by this author, and it won't be my last. As a book nerd, some of us have the fantasy of someone paying us to be around books, and for Sabrina, who was just let go from her Library job, this was placed right in her lap. I was drawn in from the beginning and enjoyed the book. There were a lot of twists, surprises and turns throughout the book. And I was not expecting that ending, although it did have me feeling some kind of way about it. It was an exciting read, and I can't wait for the next book from the author.

I was really excited to read Angela Henry's new book The Family Lies. I really enjoyed her other book Her Pretty Lies. The Family Lies follows Sabrina who is down on her luck and was fired from her dream librarian job. She can't believe her luck when the wealthy and handsome CEO of Dorsey Industries, Theo Dorsey, gives her the chance of a lifetime to be their private family librarian. Before she even arrives she gets weird warnings about the family. Lots of strange things happen and she is determined to figure out what is going on. Honestly the first 80% was just okay. It felt like a lot of build up. The last 20% had a TON of twists and turns all the way to the very last sentence, but I wish we had more breadcrumbs during the main story. This was pretty good overall, but I did enjoy Her Pretty Lies better.

Immersive, Edgy..
Secrets, lies and betrayal abound - and that’s just the start of the issues in the Dorsey family. When Sabrina is employed by this wealthy family as a librarian, she becomes immediately aware that something is not quite right. It’s not too long before she begins to ask herself who exactly she can trust. A twisting psychological suspense with a pacy plot populated with a well drawn cast of characters and a well imagined and atmospheric backdrop. Immersive and edgy,

I received an ARC of this book and I didn’t want to put it down, I needed to know what the hell was going on and what was going to happen next! I will say it did get a bit confusing with all of the different character POVs, but I think if I would have read this all in one sitting I might not have been as confused, the stopping and picking it back up again the next day made me forget who was who sometimes. Overall, this was an interesting storyline and had my attention the entire time. If you’re wanting a thriller that grabs your attention right away, has you second guessing every single character you get introduced to and a crazy family dynamic and background then this is for you! I highly recommend this, just don’t start this one at night because I guarantee this one will draw you in and you won’t end up sleeping because you’ll want to keep reading it!

The Family Lies is an intense, fast-paced thriller that will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. The story masterfully weaves together a web of intrigue, betrayal, and hidden truths, with each chapter revealing just enough to keep you questioning what’s real. The characters are complex and unpredictable, and the plot takes unexpected turns that will leave you stunned. A must-read for anyone who loves a good mystery!

The Family lies was a quick and twisty psychological thriller. I enjoyed the premise of Sabrina accepting a job as a live-in librarian at the massive Dorsey family estate where she discovers something feels off with the family. The beginning started off really strong and I was sucked into Sabrina pulling at threads attempting to unravel the truth of the Dorsey family history. I think the plot was maybe a little too layered and there was almost too much happening. The ending was a complete surprise. Overall I enjoyed the writing and will definitely pick up more Angela Henry. Thank you Storm Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC!

Down on her luck Sabrina Adams is recently fired from the local library in the small town where she grew up. Working part time at a little indie bookstore, she meets tall, dark and oh-so-handsome Theo Dorsey. THE Theo Dorsey. Of Dorsey snacks. The main employer for the area, and wealthier than wealthy. He offers her the chance to restore his deceased mother's private library, and she feels like she hit the lottery - especially when room and board are included with her generous salary.
But as soon as she arrives, things seem odd. Mrs. Manning, the long-time housekeeper, provides her a list of rules that seem stranger and stranger - including not leaving her room after midnight. Along with all the rules, there are rooms that are locked and an entire floor that's off limits to her. As time goes on, things just don't make sense.
When a local woman is missing, and the police arrive at the estate with questions, Sabrina is really concerned. It seems Theo was the last person to see the missing woman. AND it seems he had connections to a young woman's death years ago. And with everyone seemingly hiding something, she's just not sure who can be trusted.
A far-fetched, but entertaining story. I did enjoy it, but the dialog and writing were simplistic and there were phrases that seemed repetitive.
Thanks to NetGalley, Storm publishing and Angela Henry for the eARC.

In "The Family Lies," the narrative primarily unfolds through the lens of Sabrina Adams, a young librarian tasked with the restoration of the library belonging to the affluent and enigmatic Dorsey family. Upon her arrival at their lavish estate, Sabrina is immediately enveloped by an unsettling ambiance, characterized by an extensive array of peculiar regulations enforced by the housekeeper, Mrs. Manning, and the omnipresence of surveillance cameras throughout the residence. As she begins to acclimate to her professional duties, unsettling rumors surrounding the family’s sinister past surface, particularly concerning the enigmatic disappearance of a local woman and the disquieting revelation that Theo Dorsey, her charismatic employer, was the last individual to see her alive.
As Sabrina immerses herself further into her responsibilities, her discomfort intensifies. She unearths that the family conceals more than just their library; bizarre incidents and concealed chambers within the estate amplify her sense of trepidation. The dynamics of the family appear increasingly dysfunctional, particularly with a teenager named Luca residing in the household and his mother notably absent.
This story is told through multiple perspectives, which enriches the storyline and adds depth to the characters and character development. I found myself continuing to read with anticipation, as I awaited the next twist in the plot. It was a quick paced novel, with great storytelling and suspense. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The conclusion was shocking and astonishing. If you are a fan of psychological thrillers, add this one to your bookshelf.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance review copy in exchange for my review.

I'm afraid I did not think too much of this book. It was certainly drawn out, a story of a librarian finding a job that she has been trained for, but the family in question has some dark secrets, and as it's a live-in position, it comes with rules. Soon, things started to go amiss, a Jared Green trying to get her on his side, with some story of murder and trying to warn Sabrina off. Then she started having nightmares are they really happening or a figment of her imagination? A lot going on, and it seemed to fall flat in the last chapter, which was very odd.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Storm Publishing for an ARC copy to read.

eARC Review: The Family Lies by Angela Henry
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I enjoyed the dynamics in this book between Mrs. Manning, Luca, Theo & Sabrina. Theo & Sabrina seemed to easily like each other from the start & began to develop a trusting relationship with each other. Although, Sabrina’s own investigating throughout the book did lead Theo to question her during her stay, at his house to work on restoring his family’s library. Overall, I really enjoyed reading all that led up to the very surprising plot twist at the end & I would definitely recommend this book for fans of thrillers!

Full of lies and deception, The Family Lies was one twist after another! Just when I think I have it figured out, another wrench is thrown in the story. A first read for me from Angela Henry but definitely will not be the last!

Sabrina is hired by a handsome wealthy man Theo to work in his family’s library. It is the answer to all her financial and living problems until she realizes that the Dorsey family has many secrets and people around them keep disappearing. Will Sabrina be the next missing person?
This book was kind of slow at the beginning but it picked up in the middle. The ending was crazy and threw a lot of things at you. I kind of felt like the author wanted more of a shock value at the end and some of the twists thrown in felt forced. Overall an okay read for me.
I appreciate the ARC

"The Family Lies" is a gripping psychological thriller that had me hooked from the first page. Angela Henry masterfully weaves a complex web of family secrets, going beyond typical domestic thriller tropes. The story delves into themes of trauma, manipulation, and the lengths people will go to protect their secrets, delivering twist after shocking twist. Just when I thought I had the mystery figured out, Henry pulled the rug out from under me. The final twists were absolutely jaw-dropping, leaving me reeling. I was constantly questioning every character, thanks to Henry's skillful layering of deception and misdirection. If you love thrillers that mess with your head and keep you guessing until the very end, "The Family Lies" is a must-read. Be prepared – you'll be emotionally wrecked (in the best possible way).

So many twists and turns in this book that I didnt want to put it down until I knew how it was going to end. First book I have read by this author but I will be looking out for more.
