Resisting the Musician follows Lori Hanover, a bridal shoe company owner who is struggling to keep her business afloat. After her sister’s romance with a rock star fiancé creates disastrous PR for the company, Lori’s only hope of saving her business is to convince the public that the romance is real. To make that happen, she turns to Dash Mills, a former rock star turned recluse who’s got the looks of a mythic god, but is hesitant to dive back into the world of fame. Dash agrees to help Lori, but his assistance comes at a price, and he’s not prepared for the complications that arise as he spends more time with Lori. Despite their chemistry, Dash is determined not to return to the rock and roll life.
I found Resisting the Musician to be somewhat disappointing. The first half of the book felt slow, with not much happening and the romantic build-up dragged on longer than necessary. I wasn’t able to connect with Lori as a character—she didn’t resonate with me, and I didn’t feel much chemistry between her and Dash. While the premise had promise, the romance didn’t quite spark for me. That said, there’s potential for fans of slow-burn romance who enjoy tension-filled plots. Overall, it didn’t fully meet my expectations, but others might enjoy the slow-paced development if they’re invested in the characters.
