This book is not light and fluffy, but it is good. What I thought would be a comical situation of a faux relationship quickly became a serious issue of life or death (in a way). It was not for a petty reason that Leah wanted to pretend, but rather a need to protect –both herself and her family. But as usually seen in such scenarios, pretend becomes real though getting to the admission of realness is generally the conclusion rather than leading to further obstacles. It was not sweet or funny, but rather messy like life. So rather than love being able to conquer all, it was the love they had for each other than made the pair want to conquer their obstacles together. It makes you face some harsh truths, the uncertainly of life, but it makes you feel as though you were on the same journey of discovery the characters are. The novel as it left me closer to tears than smiles, but it did change me as every good book should.
