A cute and cozy wrap up to this series. I've loved all of the books in it, but this one ended with happiness and a glimpse toward the future of all of our friends in this series. I'm so glad I got to read it early! Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for the ARC.

4.5

What a wonderful way to end the series. With how the third book ended, I was concerned that maybe this book wasn't completely necessary, but I'm so happy we got it. It answered a lot of questions and solved some mysteries that have been around since book 1. Also, I liked seeing them trying to get back to normal life and the struggle it was for them. Reyna and Kianthe are one of my favorite couples in fiction and since the beginning, I just wanted them to be happy and live their life peace. Very happy with this book.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of the ebook and Libro.fm for a copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

Rebecca Thorne doesn't miss in this series. Like the rest of the series, this is best read while wrapped up in a blanket with a hot beverage because it is COZY! But don't worry, there's plenty of action and suspense to keep you on your toes.

We see many of the events and story lines come to a beautiful and satisfying end. We get more deep into Reyna and Kianthe's relationship and see what it looks like for them in the future along with the community they've built. I also loved that we got to learn more about the magic that is prevalent in this world and their connection to it.

Highly recommend this series! While I am so satisfied with the ending to this story, I truly hope we're not seeing the end of this world and some of these characters in Rebecca Thorne's writing.

I have to say I was happy to get my hands on an ARC of this one after the cliffhanger ending in book 3! (Thanks Netgalley!) In this one Kianthe & Reyna find that their roles as high-profile figures begins to catch up with the little slice of home they've carved out for themselves in Tawney.

From kidnapping, conferring with dragons, and hunting down alchemists, to city planning and tourist crowd control, this book really has a little bit of everything. As these books have gone along, they have gotten decidedly less simple and cozy, but I guess that's true to life. As soon as we find something to settle into, something else comes along to shake us up.

I really enjoy how the found family that began in book 1 has continued to grow in size and strength of bond. As well as the discussions on magic, it's origins, and uses.

The scope of the book has it feeling a little scattered or less focused, as there are multiple pulls on Reyna and Kianthe's attention, and I felt this did take away from a smooth narrative in some areas. The story does come together well in the end, just follows a couple rabbit trails along the way.

This is definitely a book where reading earlier books in the series would be a smart choice. And it does provide a satisfying end to this leg of Reyna & Kianthe's journey.

I love this series so much. Especially this particular book, with the combination of how magic works and a special spotlight on dragons. I feel like I relate to Kianthe more than I have any other book character and I have loved seeing her grow as a character.

Well, this one starts of with a bang! Reyna is kidnapped, embarrassingly, as she she has maintained that she is her own Queens' Guard, but whatever. Her wife will be along shortly, but in the meantime Reyna has charmed her way into the good graces of her kidnappers. When the mage of ages arrives, there's just a little clean up.
One crisis down, and yet so many more. Their sweet little haven, Tawney, is being over run by tourists, plots are underfoot and magic is being attacked... all in a day's work for our favorite couple.

While I don't know if this series can accurately be termed a cozy mystery, there really are some high stakes here, these books make me so happy. Reyna and Kianthe together are wonderful, working both for the betterment of their friends, and country, their friends are a delight and dragons!
Can't wait to see what they get up to next.

I am going to miss this series so much. This is the perfect ending to an incredible series. Cozy, sweet, and charming—come for the puns, stay for the found family.

I don't want this series to be done! I enjoyed this final book that follows our main characters into this next chapter in their life. It was sweet and cozy while finishing up all the storylines that came before it. It is a must read and the author's best work so far!

AHHHHHH! What an ending to a beloved series. But also, not really an ending? I interviewed Rebecca for Tea You At the Altar, and she gave me the inside scoop that there will be another group of books she wants to do to extend the universe, just not exactly following Reyna and Kianthe that time. Anyway. Learning more about how all the magics are interconnected was probably my favorite part, followed by the creative solution of rebuilding Tawney to accommodate the influx of tourists. I'm really glad they didn't end up having to close the New Leaf because that was a devastating plot point. 10/10 love Rebecca Thorne and would read again.

This is the final book in the tea and tomes series. While I loved them all I honestly think this one was my favorite. It really explored what makes a home. I did know who the villain was going to be fairly early on but that didn't take away from the story for me. I think that cozy fantasy is fast becoming one of my favorite genre.

A sweet and satisfying conclusion to my comfort series! My favorite thing about Tomes & Tea is that it balances the cozy with action, and the stakes kept the story driving enough that you couldn’t help but care about the little magical tea shop & bookstore and the people surrounding it.

Thank you to Rachel at Tor who provided me with an Arc copy through NetGalley.

After having not enjoyed book three all that much, returning to the casual mystery that the first two books had was what had me pick up this book.

The story picks up exactly where book 3 left readers hanging, and proceeds to solve a newish mystery while also tying up many unanswered threads. It’s centered primarily around the Magicary, with magic and alchemy and the history of the two at the forefront with a side plot about the popularity of Tawney. It’s lighthearted but still with enough tension to keep you interested.

I really enjoyed this title, both as a book and an ending to this series. Thorne left several avenues of exploration open for characters and the world in general if they decided to write more in this universe, and I’m still holding out for a Theo/Wylan focused book. Anyone who’s enjoyed this series overall will continue to enjoy this book.

In this last book in the Tomes and Tea cozy fantasy quartet by Rebecca Thorne, our heroines face off against the evil forces of both mass tourism and the patriarchy, as well as enjoy the delights of Take Your Queen To Work Day.

If you think you would enjoy a light and humorous fantasy series with a central sapphic romance, and you’ve not yet even checked out the first book “You Can’t Spell Treason Without Tea”, definitely start there and don’t read this review of the fourth one. What sort of person are you, do you look at the last page in books before you start them to make sure there’s a happy ending? Go away! There is, by the way.

Rogue alchemists have kidnapped Reyna, the Queensguard-turned-Queen, right after her wedding to Kianthe, the most powerful mage in the country. Given that particular set of volatile ingredients, they are certainly going to get a big reaction! Because alchemy. Never mind. Worse than that pun, due to their combined fame across the lands, the town of Tawney is now getting a touch too popular as a tourist destination, which is causing problems for everyone around them. There’s one obvious solution, and that’s closing their beloved tea shop for good and moving away.

Reyna doesn’t stay kidnapped for very long of course, and as part of the investigation into who exactly was behind it, our pair end up spending a lot of time at the Magicary, home of the Stone of Seeing. With all the focus on the Queendom last time, it’s fun to see Reyna on Kianthe’s home turf here. The tensions between the Mages and the Alchemists are well done too.

I am on record as enjoying all the previous books in this series, so when Rebecca Thorne said this was the best one yet, it is fair to say that my expectations were suitably raised. I’m glad to say that it delivers on both a fun new adventure, as well as a satisfying end to the series. It wraps up a wide number of things, including the fate of the last missing dragon egg from book one. There is one unanswered question by the end, concerning the whereabouts of a particular person, so I am not entirely convinced this is the last we will ever see of Tawney and these wonderful characters. At least, I hope not.

It’s always a good feeling when you can recommend a whole completed series, and I can now do so without reservation!

This is a perfect ending to this cozy, magical series. Thorne really nails the cozy, heartwarming feel of a small-town fantasy with just the right amount of light-hearted adventure. It’s a beautiful, funny, and thought-provoking conclusion that leaves you with a satisfied smile. The bond between Reyna and Kianthe is pure magic, this is the kind of book you’ll want to revisit whenever you need a dose of warmth and joy.

Sad to leave the tomes & tea world.

Thankful for the person on Rebecca Thornes team who keeps sending me these ARCs!

This final book in the series follows all our favorite characters as they deal with the crushing reality of their fame and its impacts on their town, as well as a mystery of alchemy circles that seem to be targeting the dragons.

The usual humor and puns that I adore so much were perfect. And I just love how it feels like enough action, without really going past cozy. My biggest complaint was I had a hard time really sticking with it and I think maybe it was pacing? But I might just not have been in a cozy mood some of the times.

Overall my heart is in Tawney and I want a dragon.

*Thank you to Tor, Macmillan Audio, and NetGalley for an ARC/ALC in exchange for my honest review*

The fact that this series is coming to a close? I'm not over it. But seeing Reyna as queen, the baby dragons gamboling about, and Tawney finally calm and serene again? That softened the blow a bit. We also finally get to delve more into alchemy, which was really exciting for me! Jessica Threet slayed the audio, Kianthe puns and all. The way that she's able to distinguish between all of the characters with just slight tonal shifts is astounding. I'm so happy that Reyna and Kianthe get their happily ever after and a cozy tea house to boot.

But is it truly over?? The ending?? WHAT??

Thank you to NetGalley, Bramble, Tor Publishing Group. and Macmillan Audio for this advanced copy! You can pick up Alchemy and a Cup of Tea on August 12, 2025.

I just love this series so, so much. Rebecca Thorne has perfected the balance of cozy, sweet, magical, action-packed, romantic books, and this (in my opinion) is her best to date. It felt like we returned to the roots of the original Can't Spell Treason Without Tea but with higher stakes and a deeper emotional connection between Kianthe and Reyna.

I loved seeing into Kianthe's past at the magicary, and how excited (yet nervous) she was to show Reyna around. The tourist problem in Tawney actually had me sweating?? Because I'd have no idea how to solve it and would also resort to closing up my shop, but the way the townsfolk rallied around Kianthe and Reyna reminded me why I fall in love with this charming small town too.

The dragon and alchemy storyline had me HOOKED. I was genuinely concerned for Blue Spruce, and I loved the mystery aspect of who the rogue alchemist was. It felt like we expanded the world and magic system without leaving Tawney behind.

The ending had me in literal tears, and I just love the idea of Kianthe and Reyna continuing to go on adventures for the rest of their lives before returning home to New Leaf.

This series needs to be on everyone's cozy fantasy list rn!! Don't wait to pick it up, especially now that it will be completed!

Rebecca Thorne concludes Kianthe and Reyna's story with this cozy book. I have loved following the mage and queensguard turned queen grow over these four books. This was a fast paced story where we learned more of the lore of this world. I also appreciated some outstanding items from previous books come to a close here, as well as more time with the other supporting characters. Highly recommend this conclusion to the series and looking forward to seeing what Rebecca Thorne publishes next whether that is in the Realm or not.

This is a super cute ending to the Tea quartet. I loved getting a view into our characters after their "happily ever after" and seeing how they struggle with their destiny and how to deal with some of the ideas they worked on in the previous books. Once again, this is a perfect cozy read, with just enough stakes to keep it interesting but the great characters, humor, and romance to keep it cozy!

Reyna and Kianthe have no trouble ruling the Queendom, battling evil alchemists, and rescuing adorable baby dragons, but can they save their town from the influx of.... tourists?!?
On the night of her kidnapping, all Reyna wanted was a relaxing cup of tea. She didn’t expect to be dropped in a hidden cell, but what the hells. She’s flexible. When Kianthe “rescues” her wife, she expects they’ll be back at New Leaf having tea by noon. But there’s a problem: an alchemy circle marred Reyna’s cell. What does a radical group of alchemists want with the Queendom’s newest sovereign and why did they think they could get away with this?
To make matters worse, Kianthe and Reyna’s hometown is having its own problems. Word of New Leaf Tomes and Tea―and its celebrity owners―has finally spread, and tourists are flooding into Tawney. As their friends struggle with the sudden influx, Kianthe and Reyna have to face a bigger conundrum than rogue alchemists: the fact that closing their bookshop might be the only way to save their town.
Things can’t just be simple, can they?

I think I've found a new author. Thorne keeps the story flowing and found an interesting way to tie things up at the end. This has just the right amount of peril. The epilogue hints that there could be more coming, especially with a side character missing, so is this really the end? Maybe for a while, but we will see.
Recommended.
