Considering this preview of The Half King only includes the first 4 chapters, those four chapters include a lot of information. We get an overview of important characters, world building, and the start of the overarching plot. I am very curious to see where things go for Cerise in the full story. There are definitely things that she and the reader do not understand at this point.
Thanks to Entangled and NetGalley for an preview of this book for an honest review.

Absolutely hooked already and had to go immediately place an order to see what happens next! The first edition looks beautiful and I can’t wait to have it on my shelves.

This book gives off YA rather than an Adult book. I do love reading YA now and then but I’m not sure that this book will be for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for providing me with a preview of the book.
What am I supposed to say, I am hooked! Even though I was only able to access the first four chapters, I felt immediately compelled to continue the book, which I will do now, as I have purchased a copy as soon as I finished half of the preview. I hope that the book keeps its pace and that King Kian is everything I expect him to be. This could develop into an enemy-to-lovers dream!

Thank you NetGalley for the teaser. ….I mean preview. This preview has gotten me hooked I will definitely be finishing book as soon as I get the book.

Downloaded the first 4 chapters from NetGalley and I am hooked. This book will be going on my TBR list today.

Oh my goodness. These first four chapters are great! I love a fantasy book with gods and demigods, unclear visions/prophecies, family curses, magical relics, and a fmc who seemingly has no powers. It does feel like there’s some secrets left to unfold within her family. I’m curious about the sister, Father Padron and of course The Half King. I only just met him but what a super fun first impression. I already love him.

I’m definitely intrigued/will be reading the rest once it comes out!! Not gonna lie, though, the king’s name made me cringe a little. The writing is pretty, and, though I have a feeling the FMC is going to be a bit annoying, I can’t wait for the rest—it has the potential to be one of my favorites of the year.

There is no easy way to explain this story.
The first borns of nobles are "cursed" and the second born are thrown into a temple as soon as they are born. The female MC must awaken her powers and use them to defeat the curse on nobles but the king as well.
This was a great book. I was in a reading funk and this book took me right out of it. The special editions that are in stores are gorgeous!
