This wasn't what I expected, and I loved that about it. The pacing, tone and general vibe of this one was so good and I would happily read this author again.

Yes please to all of it! ❤️ Grumpy mountain man & sunshiny surrogate, messed up pasts, heartache, and steamy romance. This one has it all.

Hear me out, the k*nk in this book wasn’t for me, but Amy Daws’ writing is absolutely for me. I found all the farm animal references to be top tier humorous. I am holding out for the niece’s book because she is a firecracker. If you go into this for a silly goofy time with heart you won’t be disappointed.

I loved Wyatt and Trista.
The story was extremely unique and the plot kept me intrigued.
I loved the animals and the relationships between characters

Amy Daw’s first installment of Mountain Men Matchmaker, Nine Month Contract, is a cute romcom. Wyatt is looking for a surrogate and after several failed matches with an agency his niece, Everly, steps in with a spreadsheet and a Craig’s List ad. When her approach is just as bleak as her uncle’s and time is running out from break and her college overseas is quickly approaching she creates a flyer to hang at the surrogacy agency quite literally runs into Trista. After the agency ruled her out because of her weight the two hatch a plan. With rescue animals in tow and a perfect apartment and barn Wyatt and Trista’s close proximity might not just be heating up due to the hormones from her pregnancy. Check this book out if you enjoy:

Nine Month Contract was very cute! The concept was unique, the writing was solid. However, I found the MFC a bit childish, obnoxious, and silly, which made me struggle to fully connect with her. A bit over the top, but an enjoyable read overall.

Wyatt wants to be a father and has had no luck with the agency he hired to fjnd him a surrogate. Trista needs money badly and the agency has turned her away as she doesn’t fit their ideal profile. These two end up meeting and decide to enter into a surrogacy contract. The characters are fun and their banter was entertaining. I found Wyatt’s desire to become a single parent interesting. Wyatt comes from a boisterous family that brings a lot of levity to the book and I liked Trista’s ever growing zoo she tries to get past Wyatt. The romance between Wyatt and Trista was well done. Over all I enjoyed this book.

Very fun and whitty comedy about a man who wants to be a dad and does it a little differently. The chemistry between these two is great. Didn’t love some of the negative self talk and the heavier nature of the subject matter but it was decently handled.

I had to DNF this one. The way the author writes makes the MCs seem younger than they are, which doesnt work here. The FMC was frustrating and holy internalized fatphobia??? Absolutely not. Also - I know others have probably mentioned this but good lord, the whole "soft as a baby's foreskin" thing? And the author's response to the backlash was... unbecoming. Anyways. I won't be requesting any further books from this author.

Nine Month Contract by Amy Daws is a truly epic small mountain town romance where a man who wants to be single dad & his surrogate are unexpectedly brought together by his niece playing matchmaker in this tale of hope, grand families, animals galore & so much more. If you love big, slight overbearing families with the best intentions, funny moments & overflowing hearts, this is the perfect read for you!
This is book #1 in the Mountain Men Matchmaker series, which is a fantastic start to this series

This one had me all up in the feels. It was beautiful, healing, pulled on those heart strings & had me saying “awe” at all the joy. It also made my animal loving heart soar.
I cannot wait to keep reading this series. This was my first from this author, but it will definitely not be my last. Now I need to go buy me a copy because I’m obsessed with the sprayed edges.
Massive thanks to NetGalley & Harlequin Trade Publishing for the gifted copy, which I voluntarily read & reviewed.

Nine Month Contract is the kind of steamy rom-com that hooks you fast. Amy Daws takes the fake relationship trope and gives it a bold twist with a baby contract at the center—and somehow makes it both hilarious and heartwarming.
The chemistry between the leads is off the charts, and their emotional journey caught me off guard in the best way. I expected heat (which it delivers), but the deeper moments gave it balance. The pacing lagged a bit in the middle, but the banter and tension kept things moving.
If you’re into spicy romance with a side of heart, this one’s totally worth the read.

Nine Month Contract...wasn't for me. I almost DNF'ed at fifty percent, but Teddy Hamilton's narration allowed me to at least finish the book so I could give an honest review. I almost wish I hadn't.
Wyatt, as a grumpy mountain man, wanting to be a dad? Ok, fine. He sounds gruff but swoony. Trista...oof. I don't want to pile on other women, even fictional ones, but yeah. She's supposed to be strong and independent and curvy and beautiful--but she constantly refers to herself as a cow (something like 70 times in the book?), and her sense of humor and mine just didn't jive. There was some humor in the book that gave me the ick, and the whole at-home insemination thing I've discovered isn't something I enjoy reading about. I liked his family and all the animals they kept accumulating, but it wasn't enough to overcome the breeding kink ick and the insemination ick and the awkward humor ick and all the rest of the ick.
I'm glad they fell in love and got to be a family, but it wasn't worth it, IMHO.

I normally really enjoy books from this author, but this one was not it. The dialogue felt very juvenile and the amount of slang was excessive in my opinion.

While Nine Month Contract had a fun premise and several tropes I usually enjoy—grumpy/sunshine, age gap, and small-town charm—the story fell a bit flat for me. The pacing felt uneven, with a slow start that made it hard to stay engaged. I didn’t really feel invested until more than halfway through, and by then, the emotional moments came a bit too late to fully land.
That said, the ending did carry warmth and heart, and readers who enjoy a slow build and unconventional setups might find this more to their taste. It just didn’t quite click for me.

Absolutely loved this book! It was such a fun romcom!
When Wyatt's meddling brothers post a HELP WANTED ad for him, he is mortified. A single guy, living on a mountain near his brothers, Wyatt has wanted to be a dad forever. The problem is, after a terrible breakup and having his trust destroyed, he has no interest in a relationship. After applying at fertility clinics for a surrogate, he keeps coming up empty. Enter Trista, a curvy, wildly vivacious vet tech with aspirations of opening her own wildlife sanctuary for the odd, misfit animals no one wants. Trista needs money to open her sanctuary, and Wyatt needs a baby mama. When these two are matched up by Wyatt's niece, of all people, they make an arrangement for Trista to be the surrogate for Wyatt's baby. It works out perfectly since Trista has no desire to actually become a mother. She can carry and birth the baby, collect her money and leave.
Trista moves up onto the mountain into an apartment above the barn, which works out perfectly for her since she has a pet potbelly pig. But as Wyatt and Trista get to know each other more, and work together as Trista carries Wyatt's baby, the boundaries are blurred and feelings grow. Can Wyatt get past his past hurt and mistrust and can Trista wrap her head around not just birthing a baby, but actually being a mom?
This book was hilarious! The characters were perfection, the animals were a riot, and I loved every second of reading this book!

3.5 stars
This was a fun book to read. Seeing how Trista finally accept things and seeing Wyatt care for her was so sweet.
There were moments in the book that felt repetitive at times. So that’s why I am not giving it a full 4 starts. But it was still a very enjoyable book. I’m considering reading the next brothers book soon.
There is talk of fat phobia and negative self speak in this books, so if that’s triggering for you maybe skip this book. There were also mentions of neglect.

3.5 stars.
Wyatt is looking to become a single father, but hasn’t found the right surrogate. Trista needs money to fulfill her dream of an all-inclusive animal rescue. Enter Everly, Wyatt’s niece, to help push these two together. Rom-com situations ensue.
Overall, the premise of this book has be very skeptical starting this book. Then the way the characters went about the insemination pushed me further away from it. If you can get past the obvious ick of some of the lines and the basic situation, it’s tolerable.
Did I finish it? Yes. Did I end up liking it? Not really. Not one to talk bad about someone’s likes, but the dialogue and situations were not for me. I knew how the story would end (happy and in love, duh) so that was good. But otherwise, nah.

I usually love Amy Daws, but this is a miss for me. The writing is so simple, and the story is...just kind of weird. I also didn't feel the need for the nieces perspective.

I thought I was going to love this one. I love a small town romance, grumpy sunshine, and (unlike a lot of people) well done pregnancy trope.
Unfortunately some of the language (fmc calling herself a cow and some odd analogy using baby anatomy) and the mmc being way too overprotective (huge turn off for me) really made this hard to stomach.
I did appreciate the plus size representation and that the fmc had some quirks to her that made her a lot different from the cookie cutter fmcs we usually see. Sometimes it didn’t make her personality a bit unbearable though.

I thought this was very good and I will have to add this to the shop shelves. Thank you for the chance for us to review.
