This book is top tier banter! I love a book that makes you laugh and giggle as you go and this definitely delivers!

Wyatt is decided to be a dad and surrogacy is his only option. His family steps in to help and his 18 year old niece, Everly is managing the interviews so you can imagine the family “help” that he gets.

That and watch the chapter labels they add to the laughs. Everly nails it thought and picks the woman Wyatt cannot say no to. But will a baby be enough to hold them together?

I have mixed feelings about this one. I love the cover and if grumpy mountain men who want a baby are your thing then this is the read for you! The chemistry between MCs Wyatt and Trista was well written, no surprise as this is something that the author does really well. Those scenes in the barn were 🔥🔥!

I thought the experience that Trista had with the fertility clinics as a plus size person was also accurate, at least to my personal experience. I always enjoy seeing a plus FMC but didn’t like that her intrusive, self-deprecating thoughts about her size were most of her inner monologue. Don’t get me wrong, there can be intrusive thoughts at any size but it just seems to be a default for authors when writing a plus MC - it’s okay to make her confident!

There is some third act nonsense that I didn’t find necessary to the story. And I just left thinking that if the MCs just went to therapy this could have been sorted much sooner.

Overall, a decent small town romance read but if you have any triggers around pregnancy, brëëding k!ńk, or negative talk about plus-size bodies this is probably not for you. I’ll probably check out the next one in the series though because I’m interested in Wyatt’s brothers and how things play out for them.

Thank you to NetGalley, Harlequin Trade Publishing and Amy Daws for an early review copy. These are my honest thoughts.

Thank you to HTP and NetGalley for the ARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

Amy, come here real quick. I just wanna talk. Can you tell me where I can get a Wyatt? Look, I’ll take Calder or Luke too. I’m not picky. I love them. I also would lay my life down for Trista. She is an angel. We are not worthy. Honestly.

I struggled with endometriosis and my weight for years. I knew I never wanted kids, but I always ran into the roadblock when trying to donate my eggs with my weight. I relate to Trista, hardcore. I understand how your past can haunt you and make you not want kids. I also understand the desire to help someone else who can’t have them be able too. I think Trista and I would be besties. She’s so strong and such a complex FMC. I loved her.

I loved her relationship with Wyatt. I loved the push and pull and the tension. It was everything to me. Once I started this, I couldn’t put it down. A perfect rom-com!

PS: Thank you for the Twilight reference. LOL

Thank you to NetGalley and Amy Daws for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.

I really did not expect this book to be as emotional as it was. I was imagining that I would be jumping into a typical rom-com, but this was so much more. It dealt with a tough subject, surrogacy, in such a way, that you could really feel for all parties involved. It wasn't just mentioned once or twice, and then wiped from the page. It was really handled in depth throughout, and you got to experience Trista's feelings from before she agreed to be a surrogate for Wyatt, all the way through and past her delivery.

I feel like both Trista and Wyatt showed such growth in this story. Trista worked so hard to overcome her abandonment and neglect issues from her childhood, and Wyatt was recovering from the passing of his father and the incident that almost tore him and his brothers apart. The way they worked on themselves and finally came together really made me quite emotional by the end of the book. (I may have sobbed a bit through the last 12%.)

I honestly loved this book from beginning to end, and cannot wait until book 2 in the series is released later this year.

Don't get me wrong, it hit all of the typical RomCom beats and was enjoyable to read, but it just felt overdone. It follows the formula and that formula works. I was laughing, I kicked my feet, I blushed a few times, but after sitting on it for a few days, I'm left underwhelmed.

This book is hard for me to to review because I am torn about the surrogacy issue. I loved how adamant the Trish was the she didn't want children in the beginning and I didn't really like that she just changed her mind that easily. I guess I assumed going in that her initial reason for being a surrogate was just that she wanted to help someone out.

That aside, I did enjoy Wyatt and Trish's relationship. Though her being so reluctant to accept any help or questions from Wyatt did bug me a little. She was carrying his child so it made sense that he would help out his surrogate and question some of her actions.

I want to continue with this series because I have been waiting for Caulder and Dakota's book since "The Last of us"

I’m no stranger to the wonderfully hilarious and spicy stories created by Amy Daws, but I will admit at first this book gave me pause. I hadn’t read a surrogate romance before and typically stay away from breeding kinks or pregnancy tropes in general. Since Amy is one of my faves, I gave it a read, and I’m so glad I did!

She crafted an utterly immersive world filled with dynamic characters and so many fun animals! Fletcher Mountain is a fictional place I’d absolutely love to travel to. The Fletcher brothers are rugged, self-sufficient and epically swoon worthy! Their tight-knit bond is enviable, even though it’s been tested in some of the toughest ways.

I loved how Everly Fletcher played such a key role in this book. (Last on the List is the oldest Fletcher brother Max & his daughter Everly’s book) It was fun to experience her as an older, wiser, sassy teenager determined to help her grump of an uncle Wyatt find his happily ever after. Everly’s matchmaking schemes were extremely amusing! The way Amy Daws connected these two series together shows her strength as an author. She’s able to branch off worlds and continue to keep creating unique storylines and unforgettable characters. Whether you’re reading this as a standalone or you're a diehard fan who’s read the Wait with Me series as well, you’ll be able to understand these stories perfectly. Although I will admit it’s much more fun when you have some back story on the Fletcher men. Wyatt's yearning for fatherhood colliding with Trista's desperate need of funds for her animal sanctuary delivers a complex, heartwarming story you can’t help but love.

The witty banter of this rom-com is next level. Couple it with the emotional storyline and you’ve got a recipe for ALL THE FEELS! You’ll laugh, cry and swoon your heart out with this one – while loving every minute of it! Amy Daws is truly a hidden gem author who I am so proud is finally shining in the traditional publishing world. Congrats Amy!!

Amy Daws was on my list of authors I’d like to try, so I was delighted to receive an advanced copy of Nine Month Contract. This is the first novel in the Mountain Men Matchmaker series. Daws delivered a hilarious grumpy sunshine romance and I cannot wait for the next one.

Now in paperback with a sprayed-edge, Nine Month Contract by Amy Daws offered a delightfully sexy, humorous romcom with farm animals, siblings and matchmaking. It’s the first in the Mountain Men Mstchmaker series, with the next book Seven-Year Itch releasing June 2025.

Wyatt is the grumpy mountain man in question. He wants to be a father and is trying to find a surrogate mother. He is using professional services, but with little luck. Everly, his niece, puts an ad on Craigslist with the help of her other uncle, one of Wyatt’s brothers.

Help Wanted: Grumpy mountain man seeks baby momma. Job is an incubator position only. Surrogate must be impervious to grunting as the form of communication and nosy brotherly neighbors. Rustic mountain range housing available upon request.

Wyatt lives in the home he built himself outside of town and his brothers, Luke and Calder, built on his land as well. Wyatt loves his life, his goat and working with his brothers, building sustainable homes. None of them can tell Everly no, so Wyatt agrees to meet prospective baby mama number thirteen.

Enter, Trista, a woman about to be evicted from her apartment with dreams of owning an animal rescue. Because of her own childhood, she has no desire to become a parent, but the pay to carry someone’s child would help seed her dreams. The tale that unfolds kept me up way past my bedtime.

I loved Wyatt & Trista from their hilarious meet cute to how they got pregnant. Their relationship was a nine-month slow-burn and watching the two of them was perfection. I loved the character’s growth, the jealousy and the animals. Trista made this grumpy mountain man coming undone.

Weave in family, schemes, acceptance and backstory that made the characters’ action and reactions feel genuine. If you are looking to escape reality and want a feel good, steamy, laugh out loud romcom, Nine Month Contract is it.

If you’re looking for a steamy grumpy-sunshine, small-town romance, here's one with a twist: a grumpy mountain man planning to become a single dad, a quirky animal-loving loner who becomes his surrogate, and a whole lot of overly-close family chaos.

The story follows said mountain man Wyatt and Trista, a free-spirited vet tech who’s just trying to make ends meet. When Wyatt’s meddling niece orchestrates their meeting, the two strike up a surrogacy agreement that’s supposed to be strictly business. But as they spend more time together—navigating home insemination kits, nosy family members, and a menagerie of rescue animals—things quickly spiral into something much more complicated. And the author ... ahem... does not skimp on steamy scenes.

The book isn’t without its flaws. Wyatt’s possessiveness is pretty over-the-top, and Trista’s self-deprecating humor about her body can feel repetitive. Her family trauma isn't really dealt with, and the pregnancy happens so quickly and easily that it might be a bummer for anyone who's struggled to conceive.

But overall, this is a fun, fast-paced read that’s perfect for fans of Tessa Bailey.

Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for the opportunity to review a temporary digital ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.

This book was a wild romp in the hay (no... literally)
- super grumpy/sunshine
- small town (mountain) vibes
- found family
- spice/smut

This was a quick read (which is always a plus with a very lengthy TBR pile) - we meet this grumpy mountain man who just wants to be a dad so he's searching for a surrogate. Enter, Trista, a girl whose never really had a family so she puts all her energy into caring for rescue animals/wildlife. Trista agrees to be a surrogate and live on the mountain for 9 months while pregnant.

I will say this was mildly entertaining - I especially enjoyed her sneaking animals onto the property/farm. There's a bunch of family dynamics that were interesting... (and clearly paved the way for more books). At times, Wyatt (MMC) was just a bit TOO possessive and grumpy.

Mild spoiler: I didn't love the "I'm a cow" lines. I get that she's a surrogate and a curvy one at that but I wasn't a fan of that dialogue. I didn't enjoy how the curvy representation was done. I get it was an attempt at body positivity but it just felt off.

3.25/5

Many thanks to Harlequin Trade Publishing & NetGalley for the ARC!

I was so pleasantly surprised by how much I loved this book. Dual POVs, emphasis on a strong family unit, protective and grumpy MMC, and an independent FMC all led to an incredible story that I couldn’t put down. It was emotional, sweet, spicy, and so funny. I was about 5% in when I was genuinely wishing for it to be a series. Can’t wait to read more!

“But lucky number thirteen in my arms? In her bed? It feels like redemption.”

The banter between the two characters was good and they are both great and funny characters but I found it hard to get through the book. It was recommended to me by a friend. However the terminology that Trista in particular uses is so hard to get behind. It made me feel uncomfortable and was hard to look past.

“𝐼’𝓂 𝒾𝓃 𝓁𝑜𝓋𝑒 𝓌𝒾𝓉𝒽 𝓎𝑜𝓊, 𝓁𝓊𝒸𝓀𝓎 𝓃𝓊𝓂𝒷𝑒𝓇 𝓉𝒽𝒾𝓇𝓉𝑒𝑒𝓃.“

Wyatt and his brothers had me laughing from the beginning. He’s a grumpy guy looking to become a father. I really enjoyed his character. I thought that it was great that he wanted to become a father and his reasons for wanting to doing it alone are understandable. He is very possessive, while also being very caring, but only with Trista.

In the beginning, I really liked Trista. She was funny and sweet. I loved how she spoke positively about her body and size. However, as we move through the book she starts to call herself fat and a cow. This and the fact that she didn’t want to accept any help from Wyatt were a bit frustrating. She is very hesitant to be involved with certain aspects of her pregnancy due to her own past with her family. Her ways of getting Wyatt to let her have animals in the barn had me giggling.

Wyatt and Trista together were really funny and they had some great banter. I really loved how Wyatt’s family accepted her without hesitation and stuck up for her. Everly, Wyatt’s niece, was the absolute best! She was funny, caring, considerate, in the end, she was my favorite.

Overall, this was a cute romcom and I would recommend it.

I fell in love with this couple and family! I am a sucker for loving family dynamics in books. This was beautifully written and the story described relationship authentically with all the complexities of love and loss in both romantic relationships and families. I absolutely loved how hope, resiliency, growth, healing, and found family was done. The writing was so engaging and described the vulnerability of falling in love in a genuine and heartwarming way. I am a huge fan of authors who have the ability to write feelings and emotions in a realistic and authentic way. Yet, this was hilarious and witty! In addition. the story was so sexy and swoon worthy. The MCs were both incredibly lovable and the chemistry between them was explosive! I enjoyed this story so much. I laughed, cried, and swooned! I cannot wait to read more about this family and the rest of the brothers. Thank you NetGalley for the eARC.

The 9 month contract by Amy Daws is a delightful romantic comedy that masterfully blends humor with heartfelt moments. The story follows two main characters who enter into an unconventional agreement that leads to unexpected consequences. Daws has a knack for creating relatable characters with genuine chemistry. As with many of the romance books I found myself quickly rooting for them, we always wants an HEA.
The book tackles themes of love, commitment, and self-discovery, all while keeping it in a lighthearted tone. With the blend of comedy and deeper emotional insights, i feel it was very easy to relate to the characters, which is what I look for when reading.
Overall this book is a must read for fans of contemporary romance.

Thank you Amy Daws, Canary Street Press and Netgalley, for providing me with this ARC.. It was provided to me through Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.

This is an adorable story of unconditional love and family. Full of banter, pining and moments that just warm your heart. This book had me crying, laughing and saying awe. Trista is so feisty, strong and kind, who loves nothing more than animals and having as many as she can rescue. Wyatt is a brooding flannel wearing mountain man, with a mushy heart of gold under a gruff and grumpy exterior. He is looking to build a family to shower with love. The side characters were amazing, Wyatt’s brothers, sister-in-law, mom, niece and nephew were just as thought out as the main characters. You get 3 POVs in this book, Wyatt, Trista and Everly’s (Wyatt’s niece). Because of a hard and traumatizing childhood Trista grows up quickly, not knowing what love actually looks or feels like. Enter the mastermind Everly who meets Trista while trying to help her uncle find a surrogate. He wants to be a father and struggles with trust and opening up to the idea of finding love. Everly decides to take it into her hands to find him both. When she stumbles upon Trista, she knew that Trista was the one for him. The ending had me laughing and crying tears of relief and joy.

Omg I loooooooved this book! This story has the perfect amount of wittiness, spice, & healing. Absolute chefs kiss!

9 Month contract follows 2 broken souls: Trista & Wyatt, who unfortunately have had the displeasure of dealing with traumatic life-instances that have shaped them into the lonely-heartbroken individuals they are. Trista was “raised” by an abusive family that didn’t care for her or her sister, eventually leaving her to fend for herself. Struggling with the idea of being cared for and loved, she directs her attentions to animals— the things she can count on that won’t ever leave her or break her heart. Her goal is to one day own her own rescue so that she can help all the animals she can. But with what money? Being a vet tech won’t pay for a rescue so she begins her research on “how to make fast money” and thus finds that surrogacy is her answer. On the other hand Wyatt has always wished for silence. But even in the silence one very important thing always stirs, his need to be a father. After countless failed interviews (12) with a surrogacy group, Wyatt gives up and allows his niece to find him a surrogate. Lo and behold, his niece comes through with who else but Trista! Upon meeting Trista, Wyatt knows that she’s the one he wants to carry his baby and so a deal is struck with lucky number 13. On their journey to pregnancy Wyatt & Trista become friends and eventually friends with benefits, only to find that there’s more to their friendship than they want to admit. Trista doesn’t want a family or a baby (or so she thinks) and Wyatt doesn’t want to deal with another woman that could potentially break his heart… but when feelings get involved and they both crave each other could they put their fears aside to come together and become a family? 👀 you’ll have to find out for yourself.

Guys when I say I’m so obsessed with the Fletcher’s, Trista and all her animals, I mean I am OBSESSED! I’ve already started telling my friends to add 9 Month Contract to their TBR’s and I’m so excited for them to experience this wonderfully funny story! I’m so eager to continue this series and can’t wait to see what’s in store for the other Fletcher Boys.

A huge thank you to Amy Daws, Netgalley, and the team at Canary Street Press & Harlequin Trade Publishing for allowing me to read 9 Month Contract before its pub day!
