I was really excited for this one. It had a similar plot to a favorite book of mine. Sadly, it just wasn’t for me. It sounds exciting. A mother on a quest to find out the truth about her son’s death. Neighbors who were best friends for years, families intertwined. Who knows something? The book just fell flat. I didn’t like any of the characters, nothing was very surprising and I found myself skimming pages that seemed repetitive or dull. It wasn’t what I expected.

This book kept me up all night with all its twists and turns! I couldn't believe how hard this book was to put down! Be prepared to read this in one sitting! All I can say is WOW!

I’ve read several books by Sue Watson & she’s definitely a must read author. She writes exciting thrillers filled with twists galore. The was a quick and thrilling read! Not only heartbreaking, it’s also filled with secrets that keep unraveling until the end. If you love a great psychological thriller, read this!

Sue Watson writes engaging, twisty thrillers and this latest book doesn’t disappoint.
Two women, best friends and neighbors, embark on a journey of lost husbands,children and friendship.
What I enjoyed about this book were the alternating chapters, told by each woman. The stories unfold between “ now” and “ then” as well.
The final chapters culminate with reveals and twists.
Excellent book, 5 stars.

Wife, Mother, Liar by Sue Watson was another excellent book especially as I was gripped from start to finish, once I started to read it, it was hard to put it down especially as it was fast paced with lots of great twists and turns and I just wanted to find out what happened next. It was very cleverly put together that will have you guessing till the end! A true head spinner!

I love the way Sue writes, she always brings you into all her books from start to finish.

I highly recommend you read. Another 5 star read and great books to take on holiday.

Lots of drama, twits and turns. No one is completely trustworthy. Some not at all. I liked the alternate points of view and the then and now aspect.

Wife, Mother, Liar had me hooked with its intense twists and emotional layers. From the start, I could feel that something wasn’t adding up between Jill and Wendy, two best friends whose lives have been intertwined for years. When the prom night tragedy strikes and Leo is found dead, I wondered how far Jill would go for the truth.
Reading the alternating perspectives of Jill and Wendy kept me on edge, though I’ll admit it was a bit tricky at first to keep track of who was narrating. But as the story unraveled, it became impossible to put down. The secrets and lies came out cleverly, and every time I thought I had it figured out, another twist hit the page.
The suspense builds slowly, and while the characters aren’t always likable, that’s what makes them feel so real. The messy relationships and complicated emotions pulled me in completely.
It’s not just a thriller; it’s a story about the lengths we’ll go to protect the people we love.
Perfect for domestic drama lovers.

Wow what a ride! As a typical romance reader, this was fun to read. I’ve read a few thrillers and this seems to be the same with the long build up and repetitive feelings. Loved the dual POV. It really started to pick up around 50% then I couldn’t stop reading bc I had to know what was going to happen. I felt for the 2 moms! I’m happy that it didn’t end with a cliff hanger and all my questions were answered. I would recommend!

Wife Mother Liar helped me reclaim my love of the psychological thriller. This book is filled with so many ups, downs, twists and turns one could get vertigo. It had a little of a slow start for me, alternating chapters with each women's voice. One mom was more of a helicopter parent, one more lenient; more understandable as their back stories come to light. BUT, once it took off, I found it hard to put down. I never saw the twists coming, especially the unexpected ending. I can’t wait to see what Ms. Watson has up her sleeve next. I need to delve into her previous books!

Wife, Mother, Liar is the latest thrilling thriller from Sue Watson, the popular UK author.
A complex domestic drama that weaves together melodrama with mystery and danger.
Jill and Wendy are neighbours and have been best friends for decades.
But an unfortunate tragic incident puts them at war.
Their battle is sustained with secrets, lies and deception as it flames the fire.
A weekend away is fraught with surprises until the ultimate climax.
I thought this was a clever read, taking two characters and making them at odds, growing the tension and building the plot on just them and a few minor characters.
Backstabbing, deceit, jealousy, adultery is just the icing on the cake.
It will keep you engaged and hooked til the very end.

My Review:

I despised the characters in this book, they were all selfish, petty, and horrid people, everyone had their own agenda and no one was trustworthy or at all admirable in any way. I grew impatient with them and wondered why they bothered with each other as I would have surely made tracks quickly and left either one of them eating my dust. Yet this crafty author tugged and poked at my curiosity and I found I needed to know what happened that fateful night, as they were all obviously lying like dirty rugs. Multiple twists and unpalatable turns later, I was glad I had hung in there. I had an inkling of some of their many evildoings but certainly didn’t foresee the totality.

If you are looking for a fast paced psychological thriller then Sue Watson’s “Wife, Mother, Liar” is an excellent option. A novel that deals with family, trust, and deception. Well written with well developed characters and narrated at a rapid pace that is guaranteed to keep you reading.

The story centres on a seemingly perfect family, where a devoted wife and mother, steers a life filled with cracks beneath the surface. She has tried everything to maintain a perfect image for her family, choosing to overlook her husband’s suspicious behaviour and her son’s teenage rebellion. However, the façade shatters when a prom night takes a dark turn, and the flashing police lights illuminate a web of lies and hidden truths.
As the story unfolds we learn that everyone in this family has something to hide. The wife’s internal turmoil is obvious as she questions her trust in her husband, her best friend, and even her son. The tension builds as each secret is revealed culminating in an exciting conclusion.
This is a gripping novel that is impossible to put down.

I chose to read this psychological thriller without reading the blurb because Sue Watson has always ticked all the boxes for a brilliant read.

Wife, Mother, Liar is an expertly written gripping read. Told by two women, Jill and Wendy, each in alternating chapters. Neighbours who become friends along with their husbands. Over the years, they become closer than maybe they would prefer, when their children start a romantic relationship. That is until the bond is broken without warning.

This story is so full of tension that ramps up by the page. I couldn't stop attempting to guess. I never got anywhere, though, as the twists and turns never stopped. Each moment I thought something, a different bit of information popped up. Sue Watson is certainly an author to keep an eye on!

The characters are well created. I can't say I took to them all, but I also think they aren't meant to be truly likeable. They are more real, with the flaws that people have. It made for another quality book from Sue Watson. I really do recommend Wife, Mother, Liar for anyone who likes a great psychological thriller.

While I found the premise of this book intriguing. I found the put-together not so great.
I found the first few chapters to be jumbled and confusing to follow.
I pushed through until half way, and decided this book wasn’t for me.
I did not post a negative review anywhere and chose to just list it as a DNF

I am not familiar with Sue Watson but I have a big fan of thrillers, especially those with a Dual Point of view so was looking forward to this novel,

Unfortunately I found the plot to be quite slow and I guessed the twist at the end.

Three stars a reasonable read.

I'm a big Sue Watson fan. I started in on this one a little slow thinking I didn't like it. But oh no, then it went off the rails. The twists and turns were not what I thought. I had decided that I figured it all out- I was wrong. The last 40 percent is a quick read that is a roller coaster! Definitely recommend. Brilliant , brilliant read .

I loved the cover of this book. I did enjoy this book. I got into it straight away. It was slow in places. But I did get into the story. I couldn't put it down as I wanted to know what happened. I didn't see that coming. Double twist. My jaw was on the floor. I really didn't see that coming at all. Very surprised. I would recommend.
