ARC Review:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After sustaining a traumatic brain injury in an automotive accident, Sloan’s life is turned upside down. To the untrained eye she appears healthy and completely healed. Unfortunately, Sloan is left with several long-lasting physical side effects. With a cure for her persistent ailments just out of arms reach, her friend and roommate, Vale, concocts a plan to get the experimental medication she desperately needs. Will the pair follow through with the illegal ruse, or will their conscience and hearts stand in the way?

After reading her latest novel, Perfectly Wedded, I am convinced that Grace Worthington holds the secret to penning the perfect romantic comedy!!! As a loyal fan, I have read seven of the eleven books she has published. Not only have I enjoyed each and every one of them, I have rated ALL of them four stars or higher.

Earlier this year Worthington released The Roommate Remodel. In that book she introduced us to the Carolina Crushers, a semi-professional hockey team. I instantly connected with the side characters, Sloan and Vale, and couldn’t wait for their book to come out.

While Perfectly Wedded picks up where The Roommate Remodel left off, it can be read as a standalone. This is a sweet, closed door, hockey romance. It features popular tropes such as marriage of conscience, forced proximity, and friend-to-more. The best way I can describe it is a mashup of the movies The Proposal and What Happens in Vegas with a pinch of hockey magic.

You don’t want to miss out of this amazing love story! It is available for purchase on Amazon or Grace Worthington’s website.

Special thanks to Netgalley, Poets and Saints Publishing, and Grace Worthington for allowing me to read this book in exchange for my honest thoughts.

I really liked the setup of this story: best friends Sloan & Vale (love the names!) who have been secretly in love with each other for years get married in Las Vegas to get Sloan the health insurance she needs. They decide to keep their ‘fake wedding’ a secret to everyone, to avoid any leaking to the press or otherwise and tipping off the insurance company.
Sloan feels very insecure because of her medical issues, but she also has abandonment issues. So she prefers to run off so to speak in order to avoid getting left behind. This heavily influences her relationships. So although she is secretly in love with Vale, she constantly pushes him away and keeps coming up with reasons to keep him at arms length. And Vale was so careful not to scare her away with his feelings for her… It was so funny to read about them tiptoeing around each other, trying to hide how they felt about each other, all the while having to deal with all these situations that pushed them together!
I have to admit, at some point I felt a bit exasperated with Sloan; felt that she could have shown more faith in her best friend Vale, who has always supported her and had her back. But I guess getting over deep trauma’s takes time. And it did make the story realistic. Vale seems to be the perfect husband; he’s incredibly patient and loyal and kind to her.
At times, I do think that both Sloan and Vale could have taken more control over their lives. Brax and Jaz both practically taking over their diaries; spending your honeymoon with your in-laws; being pressured into a media publicized wedding - I would never agreed to it if I didn’t want to do it. But it makes up for funny scenes in the book.
It was a fun story to read. The characters were genuine, real and I liked the character development. I really liked that it was a clean story and that the focus is on the couple, their emotions and their feelings. Kudos to the writer for that!
Thank you Netgalley and Poets & Saints Publishing for providing an advanced copy of this book. I voluntarily read and reviewed it; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

"Perfectly Wedded" is a best friends-to-lovers, marriage-of-convenience hockey romance. The premise sounded fun, as I'm always on the lookout for more best friends-to-lovers stories, but unfortunately, this one just didn’t click for me.

I struggled to connect with the characters, and I couldn’t feel the angst, longing, or chemistry between the leads that’s usually a hallmark of this trope.

Sloan’s health issues, apart from the memory problems at the beginning and a single blackout, weren’t explored enough to raise the stakes or create emotional impact, which left the story feeling a bit flat.

The plot dragged on longer than necessary, and I think it would have worked better as a shorter book.

Overall, this one just wasn’t for me, unfortunately.

Sloan and Vale are roommates and good friends. When Sloan finds out her new medication isn’t covered by her insurance Vale offers to marry her. Very cute story about a couple coming together and discovering love. Sweet and no spice.

Loved this hockey romcom. It's cute and you can tell the author really gave a lot of time and effort to perfect the details. I was really impressed by the accurate depiction of the hockey player and his characteristics!

I started this right before bed two nights ago and that was a big mistake. I could not put this down. I was immediately hooked by the first chapter.

The tension and longing between Vale and Sloan was perfect. I’m a sucker for a good marriage of convenience and I loved the way these two loved each other even before they admitted it to the other. Vale helps to make Sloan feel seen and important even through all her insecurities.
The strong sense of family throughout this book was a favorite part of mine as well!

This is my first book by Grace and I really enjoyed it. I do wish I would have read the series that comes before this one because I am interested in seeing Brax and Jaz’ original story. The Renovation Romance series is definitely being added to my tbr!

So one minute you’re with your friend at a high stakes Vegas event ,the next you got married and wake up in his bed. He’s only the hottest hockey player that exists…on the planet that is! No big deal? Right? Well hockey players apparently have great medical insurances and so do their spouses. So now the lies? Solid as houses… if that house is made of ice ? Then otherwise, stand clear …oh dear. Everyone does buy their story and it’s only until she gets better right? Media storm be damned. She’s on demand and so is her sister, because she too has a man like she , cos his brother is her mister. …what her friend doesn’t get is she’s always swooned on him, even though her chances were none to slim in nabbing him. To wake up in his bed, her idea of heaven. When he pulls her in with a grin and calls her his wife? Oh my life she’s undone. I would be with this one hon ,you’re not on your own. Lucky girl heading to the end zone. It’s a marriage of inconvenience because she has gone and fallen and there’s no getting up, no going back . She’s about to have a panic attack.perfectly wedded ,would be bliss ,if only she could pin him down for a kiss. Vale emits a groan from,Sloan and it’s the bestest feeling she’s ever known. You see though Sloan , no need to lose sleep because he feels the same so you get him to keep! Woohoo ,if only he can pull up the nerve to tell you. Argh these two ! Overthinking while sinking ,deeper in love. It’s the thing that dreams are made of. Awesome writing Grace Worthington , my happy place. It’s hockey , it’s romance and a dalliance with your favourite trope. I love your writing because I’m no dope. They’re always filled with romance and hope. This was oh so swoon a perfectly sublime fake honeymoon.!PERFECTLY WEDDED BLISS,AND FOR WANT OF A KISS FROM HER VERY BEST FRIEND who knew her ex could make things happen and she’d be grateful to boot. BECAUSE THIS HAS BEEN A HOOT TO READ . A PLEASURABLE READ INDEED . THANKS FOR YOUR AWESOME STORY GRACE I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS SMILE ON MY FACE . Bravo for good writing , immersive, a little inviting and a lot fun. You really gave me the feels with this one. Bravo ! Just wanted you to know

3.75⭐️ im a simple girl. if a book has a man holding a hockey stick on the cover, i will read it.

this book was the perfect short and sweet palate cleanser after the darker romance and fantasy i have read recently. it was super fasted paced and their story was so so wholesome and sweet. although this is the first book that i have read in this universe, i loved the found family of the team and their spouses and im excited for the next couples!!

the only thing about this book that bumped it from a 4 to a 3 is that vale and sloan were a little too insta-lovey for me. usually in a marriage of convenience, the couple is against each other at first and you see the development within the relationship throughout the book. since both the characters were best friends and had known feelings for each other already at the start, the development was missing for me but i still loved seeing them grow with each other.

After renting a room in his brother and sister-in-law's home, Vale never expected to become close to her sister Sloane. She's slowly recovering from an accident with brain trauma and he's there for her, unlike her ex was. He's determined to just be her friend after she turned him down once, but when she confides that she can't afford a new trial drug that could change her life, he proposes a deal. Marry him for the insurance, fake it for the time rewrites for the needs to work, and then quietly divorce. She reluctantly agrees, not knowing the firestorm their marriage will create for her family and his hockey team. How much is he willing to risk for the best friend that he's grown to love?
This was a clean friends to lovers romance with sweet realistic characters. Definitely a slow burn, but the vacation vibes and secret feelings on both sides kept the story moving.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

“Life has taught me that love doesn’t protect you from hard things. It doesn’t shelter you form the storm. Instead, the torrents will come, pummeling you in a thousands small ways, and it’s love that buoys you, keeps you from going under, give you reason to hold on ». Vale and Sloan’s journey from best friends to a marriage for convenience and finally love forever is full of emotions, obstacles but it’s worth it all.

When I picked up Perfectly Wedded, I was drawn in by the premise of a marriage of convenience mixed with a friends-to-lovers story. The synopsis promised humor, romance, and hockey - a combination I was excited to dive into. While this book delivered a sweet and simple romance, it fell short in a few areas for me.

Let’s start with the positives: I enjoyed the humor and banter woven into this story. There were moments that made me smile, and I appreciated the lighthearted tone throughout. The HEA was satisfying, and I was rooting for Sloan and Vale to make it work, even if their journey was a bit bumpy.

However, there were several aspects that pulled me out of the story. Despite being marketed as a standalone, it felt like I was missing significant backstory. Certain dynamics and details weren’t fully explained, which left me feeling disconnected from the characters. The pacing also felt off - Sloan and Vale’s relationship lacked the depth and chemistry I hoped for, making the romance feel flat at times. Going back in time I would choose to read the other books in the interconnected standalone series so that I could better understand these characters.

Some plot points didn’t quite make sense either. For example, why were they living with four other people after getting married, especially when money wasn’t an issue? And the multiple Kevin Costner references? That was an odd choice, considering the characters are in their early twenties.

Overall, Perfectly Wedded is an easy, sweet read perfect for fans of closed-door romcoms. If you’re looking for a light book with some fun tropes like marriage of convenience and friends-to-lovers, this might be a good fit for you - just be prepared for a few plot holes and a slower pace.

Thank you to NetGalley and Poets & Saints Publishing for an arc of this book in exchange for my honest feedback!

2.5 rounded up to 3

Vale and Sloan get married so she can benefit from his insurance. But what happens when it stops just being about convenience and starts feeling real?

Read if you like:
-Marriage of Convenience
-"My Wife"
-Vegas Weddings

This was such a cute concept, but the pacing was off. Perhaps if I had read the related book first, it might have been a better experience. It felt like Vale and Sloan fell in love off the page. What should have been slow burn friends to lovers instead read like instalove. Also, the opening moved so fast and then slowed down. I would have loved more of them in Vegas before the wedding.

While this book is said to be a standalone, and I read it as such, I’m here to say it missing so much backstory.
I’m positive it would be better if it was just listed as apart of a series.
I liked both of the leads but Vale needs to be a big boy and use his words, and Sloan acts like her having adhd is an excuse for everything. Honestly, that whole thing doesn’t even make sense, whenever it’s mentioned it seems like a last minute add on to check a box because it just doesn’t fit.
“I have adhd, so I leave relationships before they leave me?”
That’s not how that works 😂

No spice, and maybe that’s why the romance just felt flat to me, there was very little longing touches, very little kisses, it was too much friend zone, no passion. I needed a Darcy hand flex or something

Perfectly Wedded is a cute read that shows two friends truly falling in love. Vale and Sloane both grow as characters through out the book, however some of their relationship does feel rushed. Some of their relationship barriers seem like they would and could be avoided if they were truly close friends. I really liked Vale as an MMC, he genuinely cared for Sloane and looked for ways to break her out of her comfort zone while also providing for her. I do think that while the author stated you could read this as a stand alone, you probably need to read books before this to fully understand all the characters.

I loved this marriage of convenience story! I think it was even more special because it was a friends to more story, as well. There was this excellent back and forth balance of both characters actually wanting more, but being afraid to tell the other, while also being married to each other. So, they danced around those feelings a bit, but I loved how completely Vale was devoted to Sloan. It was clear that he was a true friend to her, but once they married…whew! He began to do his best to show Sloan how important she was to him and that he didn’t want an end date to their marriage.

Sloan was so skittish! Vale really had such patience for her. It showed how much he understood his friend, the woman he loved, and how he wanted to be there for her. The author did a great job of creating believable tension between these two and moving them from friends to more as the story progressed.

You can jump into this first book in the Perfect Crush Hockey Romance series or you could go back and read The Roommate Remodel if you want to see Sloan and Vale as the side characters to their siblings in that book, which introduces the hockey team that both brothers play for.

I loved this story and am looking forward to more in the series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Perfectly Wedded is the first book in this series but we've met the mcs before. This can absolutely be read without reading the previous books but I would definitely recommend reading The Roommate Remodel as Brax and Jaz make consistent appearances in this book.

Best friends, roommates, and a marriage of convenience, what's not to love about Vale and Sloan.

Everything about Vale screams green flag and it's beyond refreshing to read about a man who will do anything for his best friend/wife. Sloan's character growth is beautiful to watch develop. And their chemistry is so cute.

If you want a sweet, clean book to enjoy in a quick read this is definitely for you (honestly any Grace Worthington book will hit the spot)

I Loved This read! Sloan marries her best friend (and brother in law!) for his insurance to get her much needed medication after her accident. The two quickly fall in love and I absolutely adored watching their relationship grow as they attempted to keep their secret under wraps. Vale will and does give up anything necessary to be with Sloan and watching her understand that and begin to feel safe with him is just the sweetest progression. I love the dynamic with all the hockey players, and their siblings. This was such a cute read and I would absolutely recommend it.
Thank you to NetGalley, Poets and Saints Publishing and Grace Worthington for the chance to read this in exchange for my honest review!

Best friends Sloan and Vale are in Vegas when they realise that the best way to ensure Sloan is able to access health insurance is to get married. Of course, then they have to keep the reason for their marriage a secret from their friends and family - which isn't so easy when they start to develop very real feelings for each other.

As a fan of Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy's hockey romance, it was great to get to meet Vale and his team, the Carolina Crushers. I'm also a sucker for the accidental marriage in Vegas trope, so this is a fun light read that I would recommend to anyone enjoying the hockey romance trend!
