I have read all of Chelsea’s books! I absolutely loved her when she had Chelsea Lately. She was loud, over the top, and I couldn’t get enough. Her books were always something else

“I’ll Have What She’s Having” though, it’s different. Yes you will laugh and yes she still has absurd stories, but this book is more about finding her true self and loving herself. I loved reading about the changes she has and is going through. Her revelations and also seeing some revelations of my own (by no means is this a self help book lol) but it kind of was for a minute.

There were some parts that I wanted to skim through but overall loved seeing her growth written out. She’s an interesting woman and always curious to see what she’s up to

Thank you NetGalley and Random House Publishing for the advanced copy to read!

Thanks to NetGalley and Dial Press for my ARC in exchange for my honest review. This book will be published February 25, 2025.

I was expecting a book of comedy skits but this s much more autobiographical. While there are some funny and truly outrageous events, it’s actually more of a self-help book. Chelsea has a strong desire to learn about herself via therapy, meditation and helping others. And doing drugs.

Things I learned about her:
1. She has a mind for business. At age 10, her “lemonade” stand served hard lemonade. She made enough money to upgrade herself to first class while her family flew coach.
2. She does a lot of drugs. LSD seems to be a favorite
3. She has multiple homes, including Whistler and Mallorca
4. She loves to ski
5. She loves dogs
6. She is a firm believer in family and manners and treating people nicely

She is definitely unconventional yet she has a heart of gold. I’m a fan.

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect going into it, but I’m glad I read this book. It’s a memoir w/ entertaining quips & short essays that embody themes of giving, acceptance, & healing.

I didn’t know much about Chelsea prior to reading. After taking it all in, it’s easy to say she is a complex character with many layers. There’s definitely more than what meets the eye.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!

I have read other books by this author and found them funny, if not hilarious. With these expectations, I found this book just okay, which was a bit of a disappointment

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This book was okay it was very unorganized and had no direction. It was trying to hard to be a self help book, it’s not funny, and it felt forced like this was all leftover stories from other books. The time jumps are confusing, no order to this book.

Chelsea Handler’s witty antics have been a road trip staple for me since my early twenties. While this book didn’t quite hit the same mark as some of her earlier works, I suspect it’s because I’ve grown to prefer experiencing her stories through her unmistakable voice in audiobook form.

That said, it’s been exciting to witness her evolution as an author and individual. This book stands out as one of her most introspective yet, showcasing a level of self-reflection that sets it apart from her previous works.

In many ways, it feels like Chelsea’s own take on Aesop’s Fables—packed with humor but deeply rooted in personal growth and hard-earned wisdom. Striking the delicate balance between laugh-out-loud comedy and heartfelt introspection is no easy feat, yet Handler pulls it off with her signature charm.

While I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, I’m eagerly anticipating the audiobook—because hearing her narrate her own journey is always next-level entertaining.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an eARC of this title in exchange for a free and honest review. It’s been an honor and a privilege to read this book!

I adore Chelsea Handler, but I felt this book was a little boring. I felt that there was a lot of small stories put together as the plot, rather than one overarching story. The beginning is just that, but I felt that way throughout the book. Maybe I had too high of expectations, but this one just wasn’t for me.

This wasn’t nearly as raunchy as Chelsea’s past books and as a result I felt like I related to her in ways I have not while reading her other books. It is not as laugh out loud funny as her earlier books but that’s honestly profound because it shows how she’s grown over 20 years.

I have been reading Chelsea’s books for 20 years or so now and this book was the one I related to the most as a fellow child free woman. I really enjoyed her stories about the kids in her life that she has bonded with and how not wanting to be a mother doesn’t mean you hate kids or don’t have that caretaking instinct.

I was so excited to receive the E=ARC for I'll have what she's having. I have read the majority of Chelsea Handlers other books and always have a chuckle! Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I'll Have What She's Having is full of short personal stories of Chelsea. I love how while I always laugh reading them she is able to inject important deeper messages.

Chelsea's writing has:

- a level of depth that is truly profound
- a superior intelligence, the way she speaks and organizes thoughts is highly intelligent
- a high level of self-awareness yet with genuine down-to-earth-ness to be super relatable
- hilarious situations, stories, and thoughts

Reading this made me truly wish I were her friend. She sounds like a fun and very good person, not to mention a FANTASTIC writer.

You know the name. So do I. And I opted for this book anyway, assuming I’d get what I expected.

And, yes, I got some of that. And I also got a surprising number of revelations. Not just about her. But also about me. But why did she require years of therapy to make a breakthrough in understanding who she was and how she got there?

A heart-to-heart with Jane Fonda struck a chord with Chelsea, and giving it much thought began a turn-around in her attitude. Known for her open dislike of the male gender and children, it’s amazing she could find so many men with whom to have relationships.

My eyes might have occasionally glazed over when the lectures of what she discovered and how she turned it around went on a rant page after page. Sometimes it felt like the point was not just made but then pounded in with a jackhammer. And all this from a woman readily discussing her drug and alcohol use, sheets of LSD.

I loved her account of the children she’s worked with, the love she has for her nieces and nephews, and her own dogs.

So, yes, I’m torn. An interesting and unexpected book. If you’re a Chelsea fan, then you’ll no doubt love it. My generation, though, might still find some disclosures TMI. 4 stars

I really enjoyed Chelsea Handler's latest memoir. I've read a few of her books and was a big fan of her in the aughts. I even went to see her stand up and got a picture with her after.

What I loved about I'll Have What She's Having is that while it is a collection of stories, they all build on each other and reference each other. It is a cohesive narrative that even comes full circle at the end. I also love seeing Chelsea's growth based on the work she has done on herself. It makes me want to go back and reread those early books to see if I can identify the way she has changed through her writing. Her sense of humor is the same I know and love, and it has always resonated with me.

I especially loved the stories about Oopsie, Whoopsie, and Poopsie and how these girls and Chelsea helped each other to feel more secure, safe, and loved.

While Chelsea comes from a place of immense privilege (she talks a lot about her houses in Mallorca, Whistler, Martha's Vineyard and LA) she also understands this and knows her responsibility to try and use this privilege to improve the world, and to be generous to those in her orbit. I certainly wish I were in her orbit! She has done the hard work of understanding her faults and why she behaves in certain ways and working to improve herself and fix her behaviors.

Reading this made me want to learn even more about Chelsea and listen to more of her speaking and read more of her writing.

Thank you Random House Publishing Group and NetGalley for this copy in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you for this ARC! I used to love Chelsea Handler, read many of her books and watched her show Chelsea Lately. I hadn't been paying attention to her in awhile, so I was excited to see this new book. It was funny, easy to read and reflective. I greatly enjoyed it. I think anyone with difficult relationships with their family and can appreciate a little levity will like it.

So I have been a fan of Chelsea for probably 20 years, I read all of her books, went to see her live and watched her on tv. I am pleased to see her grow and change into a "better" human being, but I do miss the stories and recounts of the way she used to behave. While I can appreciate her growth, this book fell a little flat to me. There were sprinklings of 'LOL' moments but the overall message was very self help and honestly a bit hard to believe as truth.

This book comes out on February 25th, and I highly recommend it! As a big fan of Chelsea Handler, I thoroughly enjoyed this read. I found myself laughing out loud multiple times, while also reflecting on the insightful life lessons she shares. It’s the perfect balance between humorous and heartfelt moments and I absolutely loved this book!

When I think Chelsea Handler I think sex, drugs and a little mayhem. This book does not fit the typical Chelsea mold, yet I felt like it was her most sincere book to date! Having read all of her previous books, I enjoyed this perspective and self reflective Chelsea. I loved all of her interactions with the kids who called her “father” and truly how caring and kind she is to her entire family. Her words of wisdom have stuck with me and I will be taking many of her thoughts and great mottos into the New Year. Thank you netgalley and publisher for the advanced copy. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. Thank you Chelsea for another great book, she truly is one of the greats!

I am a fan of all of Chelsea Handler's books, so I was excited to get an early copy through Netgalley. Her misadventures are absurd and entertaining, and her irresponsibility is part of her charm. This book is what happens when the pretty party girl has her "come to Jesus" moment, or in her case, a good therapist and the time and money to work on herself. Good for her, we should all be the best version of ourselves that we're happy with. Unfortunately, that wasn't the version of events I thought I was signing up for when I metaphorically cracked open this book. I was looking for more Chelsea excess, the vicarious sex, drugs, and martinis that pull me out of my mundane suburban life, not gratitude journals and therapy speak. I won't say it's a bad book. It's just one I didn't enjoy...like when you reach for a glass of orange juice and pick up the milk instead: there's nothing wrong with either one, it just wasn't want you were expecting. If you want a book about personal growth, this one will be particularly gratifying. If you were looking for sex, lies, and mayhem, maybe go back and reread one of her previous works instead.

Thank you #Netgalley for the advanced copy!

Another great Chelsea Handler read! This one captures her most recent life experiences of traveling, kids, and relationships with people and pets. Chelsea unexpectedly became a parent like figure to new children in her life, who call her "father". We watch as Chelsea's parental instincts kick in when she senses these girls need some stability and attention. Was interesting to see how this relationship progressed and how she shifted priorities to be there for them.
