I absolutely love this series so I was excited to read this book, the third so far, based around Detective Erica Sands and her team.

Erica is in the unfortunate position of having a serial killer as a father and he delights in taunting her. When she receives news of his death, Erica instantly knows something is amiss and refuses to believe he is dead.

In Paris, a top journalist for Le Monde newspaper is investigating a huge financial fraud, which will expose a notorious Italian crime family.

The twist that brings these two investigations together, in a remote French village, is wag too convenient to be believable but the dramatic ending makes up for that with a huge cliffhanger which is going to keep me chomping at the bit for book 4!

I enjoyed this well-crafted book until the end. I enjoyed the characters even though some were over the top – it's fiction afterall. I liked the author's easy style. However, it didn't end. Some reviews have referred to it ending with a cliffhanger. I expect a book to end so, instead of 3 or 4 stars, it gets 2.

Erica Sands is an English detective and the daughter of an infamous serial killer. After he escapes from prison, Erica is obsessed with hunting him down. When she receives word that he has died in Vietnam, she is certain it’s a trick. The hunt leads her to France where there is a possible tie-in to her father.
The mystery is interesting and Erica is unlikable, but the cliffhanger ending was something I totally disliked. I want the story to have an ending, even if it is part of a series.

I was really grateful to the publishers for offering me the advanced copy of this book to me. The description (and the many 5 star reviews) ticked all my boxes. It took me a while to get in to it because I had not realised it was the third in a continuous series (must be my fault). However, once everything clicked I was hooked. The writing was excellent, it was thrilling, and I read it non-stop because I couldn’t wait to find out what happened at the end. Unfortunately, I didn’t, and that’s why I can only give it 2.5 stars. If you have read the previous two books and are happy to wait for the fourth (or fifth, or sixth?) then I can highly recommend this. If not, I’d give it a miss.

This was such a good book. I loved the story and the writing so much. The characters were great and the story flowed smoothly. Will definitely read more books by this author in the future.

The third installment of the excellent DCI Erica Sands series finds her totally immersed in the hunt for her serial killer father. The chase takes her across the world, finally ending in Europe. The characterisation is believable, although the plotting left me wondering if I was watching a film, rather than reading a book! It's fast paced, filled with suspense and a rollercoaster of a ride until the dramatic, unexpected ending. I was completely hooked and would recommend the read to thriller lovers. I enjoyed this. It’s a nice little detective novel. I did become attached to the fmc Det. Sands. She’s in pursuit of an escaped serial killer that also happens to be her father, who may or may not be dead. By the end, we are left hanging and waiting on the next installment in this series.

DCI Erica Sands is a detective on a mission. How did her father serial killer Charles Sterling escape prison and where is he? With the help of Jonathan Briggs from Interpol they are off to find the prison guard who helped in his escape. Off to Brazil they go but they hit a few roadblocks along the way. More people get involved in this story that connect with Charles Sterling.
I will say there is a lot going on in this book. I didn’t read the other two in the series. It probably would have been better for me to have read them. It was a very interesting book with a main character who was on a mission to get to the truth.
There was a cliffhanger so I am thinking there will be a book four. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a mystery with some intrigue, I would suggest that you read the other two books so it would be a little bit easier to follow the characters and how they are associated with each other.

Intriguing If A Touch Meandering. Will Be Divisive. I believe this is my first ever review with an asterisk on the rating as far as I'm concerned - because for the first time ever I may well come back and reduce it by a star, depending on how the next book plays out. My reasons here can't be explained without delving into spoiler territory, but I've written about my thoughts on what happens here in other contexts in other places, so they are at least quantities that can be known - and which should be at least partially obvious to those who have read the book.

For what it is though, this book itself is truly a fun and intriguing look at a Sherlock-variant "super detective" who finds herself placed in a situation she refuses to believe is actually true. The story then meanders quite a bit before the big reveal, which then explains the meandering before leading into the final sequences here.

Even in the meandering, the plot is well paced with a lot going on in different areas around the globe, making this easily the most expansive book in the series to date. The characters all play their roles superbly, and the result is a book that reads at least as good as some of the movies that are of its ultimate form. But again, because of the nature of this book, there is really only so much that can be said without revealing spoilers of some form or another.

Very much recommended.

They established a friendship with a strange American man in the town they thought might lead them to Sterling’s hiding place, but soon Erica began to get weird vibes from the man.
Time was running out, and they had to find Sterling and stop him before he started a new wave of killings, and even she could become a victim.

The third in the series if Erica Sands story. It starts off still on the hunt for Erica's father, she does not appear to be coping too well however she is determind to find out the truth when it appears her father has passed away. This is where the story switches to a french journalist where it gets a little confusing.
An enjoyable read and will look forward to next thank you for advanced copy.

"The Hunt" is an engaging read that kept me glued to the pages. Although it's the third book in the series, I found it easy to enjoy as a standalone, but I will definitely be going back to read the first two.
Erica Hunt is not only a detective but also the daughter of a serial killer who has escaped from prison. While his lawyer claims he’s dead and she stands to inherit his estate, Erica remains skeptical.
With the police convinced of his death, it falls to Erica to investigate, putting her in a race against time. A parallel storyline adds intrigue, featuring a journalist delving into a major financial fraud that Erica believes is connected to her father.
The plot is filled with unexpected twists and an ending I never saw coming, leaving me eager for more. I can't wait for Book 4!

I really like these Erica sands novels and this one didn't disappoint me. If you've not read the others it does work as a stand alone, you should go and read the others though!!

The third part in Erica Sands story, and there are still plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing. It's a bit hard going at times and the ending, well I won't give you any spoilers, but it definitely keeps you on the edge of your seat.

I received an ARC of The Hunt and instantly dove into the first 2 books. Detective Erica Sands is instantly a character who grabs your attention and won't let it go. A brilliant detective with a stubborn streak who is on the hunt for a notorious serial killer who has escaped prison. The catch? He's her father and everyone else believes he's dead. The Hunt shifts POV a few times in the story and with each one, I found myself growing more and more anxious attempting to put together the pieces of a puzzle and devouring the pages to see how it all came together. A daughter hunting her father, a huge financial fraud case being investigated by a French journalist, and a sleepy coastal village with a mysterious American diplomat, it all comes together while you hold your breath until the last page leaves you shocked. Gregg Dunnett develops incredible characters and keeps a pace that is absolutely addictive.

Pretty good entry in the Erica Sands series about the continued hunt for Erica's serial killer dad, Charles Sterling, who escaped from prison in the last one and may or not have died from cancer. Erica, of course, refuses to believe he's dead and sets off on her own investigation. A bit meandering at times, no real surprises and Erica is back to being really abrasive and unpleasant as she was in the first one. Still, it's well-written and keeps you engaged throughout. Not as good as The Trap but better than The Cove. 3.5 stars. Thanks to Netgalley for the free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really think I am reading a different book to the other reviewers, it starts off fine all about Erica and her serial killer dad. Then we switch to a French journalist waffling on about writing this big story. Its boring, men fishing going to the pub. Dull. Not a wiff of Erica for a good 30% of the book. I am now half way through not sure I want to finish.
I am a fan of Greg Dunnett and have read all of his books and really enjoyed them but this one is just Dull
